Chapter 522: The Creator of Natural Disasters

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 701 words

At this very moment, tens of thousands of members of the Jiang Dynasty all looked up, their gazes fixed upon the scene unfolding in the sky.

Every single one of them was dumbfounded, jaws agape, their faces displaying every shade of shock imaginable.

Chu Feng knew this terrifying man? What exactly was the relationship between them? Judging by the man's expression, he seemed to be terrified of Chu Feng. Was the man completely insane, or was there some hidden truth behind all of this?

The crowd buzzed with speculation, but no matter how they guessed, they couldn't determine the true nature of the two's relationship. All they could do was keep watching the pair in the sky, hoping the answer they sought would reveal itself there.

"Spare me! I know I was wrong! I shouldn't have trespassed into your territory! I shouldn't have disturbed your peace!"

"Please, give me one chance! I beg you, just let me live! I'll do whatever you want, I promise!"

The terrifying middle-aged man was half-kneeling in midair, kowtowing repeatedly and begging Chu Feng for mercy. Every now and then he would steal a glance at Chu Feng, and each time he did, his expression grew even more terrified, his body trembling uncontrollably.

Seeing this, Chu Feng was deeply alarmed. He wasn't a fool. Connecting what Chu Yuan had once told him about this man with the man's current behavior, Chu Feng had already deduced a thing or two.

This man was probably not from his family. He must have done something wrong, offended someone.

That person had the power to kill this man, the presence to make him cower in fear. But that person hadn't killed him. Instead, he had given him a chance to live—a chance tied to a mission: to protect Chu Feng.

As for who that person was, Chu Feng already had a pretty good idea. If his guess was correct, then that person could only be his father.

After all, the mere sight of Chu Feng's face was enough to make this man tremble with fear. That meant he wasn't afraid of Chu Feng himself, but of someone who looked like Chu Feng. And the only person who could resemble Chu Feng so closely was his biological father.

But right now, Chu Feng didn't have time to dwell on all of this. What he wanted most was to seize upon this terrifying man's weakness—he had to bring the man under his control.

"Do you remember? I once gave you a mission," Chu Feng suddenly spoke up.

"A mission?" The man was momentarily stunned, then quickly nodded. "Yes, you told me to protect a child."

"What was that child's name?" Chu Feng pressed.

"What was his name? His name was... was..." The man's eyes darted around nervously, his composure crumbling. But after a moment, his face finally cleared, shifting from panic to a flicker of joy. "Chu Feng! You said this child must be called Chu Feng—he couldn't have any other name!"

"And did you protect this child all along?" Chu Feng continued.

"I... I..." Hearing this question, the man completely panicked. The flicker of joy vanished from his face, replaced by absolute terror. He hurriedly kowtowed again, begging, "Mercy! Please have mercy!"

"Hmph! The mission my father gave you, and you dare shirk your duty like this? Aren't you afraid that his wrath will annihilate you?!" Chu Feng barked coldly, his voice ringing with authority, as though the terrifying man before him really was his servant.

"Your father? You... who are you?" At these words, the fear on the man's face eased slightly, but his gaze as he looked at Chu Feng remained full of awe and dread.

"I am Chu Feng—the one you were supposed to protect."

"But you've been far too negligent! Not only did you fail to keep your promise and stay by my side, you even helped my enemies turn against me?!" Chu Feng thundered.

"Enemies? Where?! I'll kill them! Kill them!!!"

At the word "enemy," twin flames ignited in the middle-aged man's eyes. The murderous aura that had vanished moments before surged back—but this time, it was clearly not aimed at Chu Feng or his allies.
