Thunderclouds blotted out the sky, moving at tremendous speed as they rapidly caught up.
Rumble—
Moments later, countless bolts of lightning crashed down from every direction, forming walls of thunder that trapped Chu Feng and Old Cat right in the middle.
If they had still clung to any hope that this was merely a coincidence — that the storm wasn't genuinely pursuing them —
That hope was now all but gone. The thunderclouds were undoubtedly targeting the two of them.
"That person's strength exceeds mine, but not by much."
"Brother Chu Feng, it looks like it's going to be up to you."
Old Cat said to Chu Feng through a secret voice transmission.
Because the power of that lightning was that of a fifth-grade Half-God.
Crackle—
Suddenly, another bolt of lightning crashed down, landing not far in front of Chu Feng and Old Cat.
From within that bolt of lightning, a figure emerged.
It was an elderly man with pitch-black skin, short in stature, and extremely frail—so thin he resembled a skeleton, truly skin and bones.
And he was so dark, as though his entire body had been dipped in ink; one could hardly imagine a darker person.
He wore a set of black cloth robes, and with the storm clouds blanketing the sky overhead, had his eyes not been open, one might not have even noticed he was a person at all.
"Both of you, this old man's name is Tao Wu."
"I mean no harm. I saw that the two of you were heading toward the entrance of that demon coffin, and so I wished to travel with you."
The small, dark-skinned old man spoke directly to Chu Feng and the other after descending.
It could be almost certain that this old man was fully capable of seeing Chu Feng, even though the strength he had displayed was that of a fifth-grade Half-God.
But he was able to see through Chu Feng's concealment.
Since he had seen through them, Chu Feng stopped hiding and simply revealed himself along with the old cat.
"Senior, why do you wish to travel with us?"
"And how exactly did you see through our concealment technique?"
Chu Feng voiced the questions that had been on his mind.
"Actually, I couldn't see the two of you before."
"It was only after you revealed yourselves that I was able to spot you."
The old man who called himself Tao Wu explained.
"You couldn't see us?"
Chu Feng did not believe it.
This old man's gaze had been locked onto Chu Feng the entire time — how could he possibly not see him?
"Young brother, this old man's body is somewhat special. It comes with a prophetic art, and my intuition is very accurate."
"Just now, my body gave me guidance. It told me that on this journey I would encounter a noble person, and that noble person would help me achieve great success. And that noble person is you, young brother." The old man who called himself Tao Wu said.
"Why does that sound so familiar?"
The old cat scratched its ear as it spoke.
"It really is familiar."
Chu Feng laughed too — the old cat had clearly said something like this before.
"So you found me based on your intuition?"
Chu Feng asked.
"Exactly."
Tao Wu said.
"Hey, you must think we're idiots or something?"
"If you said you had a treasure on you that could track us, even I would've believed that. But you expect us to believe you found us through pure intuition, and with such precision? Who'd buy that?"
"If you want to cooperate, at least show some sincerity, would you?"
The old cat said impatiently.
Although the other party's demonstrated strength was above his own, he was not afraid — because he knew that Chu Feng's Shura King could hold its own against a fifth-grade half-god.
What he was relying on right now was Chu Feng.
But what the old cat didn't know was that, forget the Shura King — right now Chu Feng couldn't even release a single Shura realm spirit, meaning the two of them were absolutely no match for this dark-skinned old man.
"Little cat, don't misunderstand. The one I actually want to cooperate with is this young brother here. If you think I lack sincerity, you're free to leave."
Tao Wu waved his hand dismissively, paying the old cat no mind whatsoever.
"You!!!"
The old cat was so furious its mouth was agape.
"Senior, I won't hide it from you. We are indeed heading in the direction of that aura to see what's going on."
"If you'd like to accompany us, that's certainly possible. But we're complete strangers to each other. If you want to travel with us, you really ought to show some sincerity — don't you think?"
Chu Feng said.
"Chu Feng, why bother talking to someone like this? He's obviously up to no good. Just take him out so we can get back on the road."
The old cat transmitted via secret voice.
"Don't be hasty. This man has only revealed the strength of a fifth-grade Half God. Who knows what his true cultivation level actually is?"
"If he turns out to be more than just a fifth-grade Half God and we strike first, wouldn't that be courting death?"
Chu Feng responded to the old cat through secret voice transmission.
And the old cat fell silent.
"Young brother, I understand your meaning now."
"I am genuinely willing to cooperate. Since that is the case, I shall show a bit of sincerity."
"I come from the Pilgrimage Heavenly River, without sect or faction, traveling alone."
As Tao Wu was introducing himself, the old cat couldn't hold back and spoke up again.
"Alright, alright, alright, what nonsense are you spouting? There is no Pilgrimage Heavenly River in the current martial cultivation world."
"Can't you make up something more believable? You even changed the name of the Heavenly River?"
The old cat looked at Tao Wu impatiently.
