Turning toward the voice, they saw the space at the entrance of the great hall tremble slightly.
Soon, two crimson figures materialized.
One was tall, the other short.
Despite their different builds, they wore identical attire.
Crimson wide-brimmed hats, crimson robes — a uniform wash of red with no other adornment, vivid as though soaked in blood.
The sight wasn't terrifying, exactly, but it carried an oppressive weight.
The brimmed hats were laced with barrier formations that, though they did not fully conceal the wearers, blurred their features beyond recognition.
At the same time, their cultivation could not be sensed at all.
Still, it was obvious — the ones who had severed the Lord of the Dark Night's arms had to be these two.
And the moment Chu Feng laid eyes on them, his heart jolted.
He had heard the Saint Light Whitebrow speak of these red-robed figures before.
They were a mysterious group that made a habit of slaying ancient creatures. Their strength was unfathomably deep, yet they moved like phantoms — no one knew where they came from. Even more enigmatic than the Prison Sect, they had been nothing more than rumors until now.
He never expected to encounter them here, of all places.
"So it was you who broke into my territory?" The Lord of the Dark Night fixed his gaze on the two red-robed figures. "I had it wrong."
"The great Lord of the Dark Night can't even tell who trespassed on his own domain?" The taller figure spoke in a young man's voice. "It seems these long ages have not only ravaged your cultivation — they've rotted your wits as well."
"I don't believe we've ever met," the Lord of the Dark Night said, his tone measured. "That means we have no quarrel. You came for the treasure, didn't you? Take this as compensation for your trouble — no need to have come all this way for nothing."
As he spoke, his severed hand reformed. He drove it straight through his own chest, and when he withdrew it, a palm-sized square box rested in his palm.
With a flick of his arm, the box sailed toward the two red-robed figures.
The younger one caught it and opened it at once.
Hummmm—
The instant the lid parted, brilliant light flooded outward, and a torrent of powerful aura erupted from within.
Chu Feng's eyes narrowed.
The box was small, yet it functioned much like a Universe Bag — the space inside was enormous.
He could sense that it held a treasure trove of rare materials, every single piece extraordinarily precious.
Setting everything else aside, the dozen or so weapons alone each radiated an aura that far surpassed that of Exalted-grade armaments.
They had to be weapons that transcended the Exalted tier entirely.
This was the first time Chu Feng had ever felt the presence of such blades, and the thrill of it stirred something deep within him.
After all, he was a martial cultivator, now within striking distance of the Half-God realm. Weapons of this caliber were naturally something he yearned for.
He also understood just how rare such pieces were.
Yet even among those weapons, something inside the box radiated an aura far more formidable — something he couldn't immediately identify. Whatever it was, it had to be something truly extraordinary.
Chu Feng hadn't expected the Dark Night Divine River to actually yield a treasure hoard, let alone one that far exceeded his expectations.
A pity that these treasures clearly had nothing to do with him.
Still, compared to Chu Feng's inner turmoil, the young red-robed figure seemed entirely unmoved. He glanced inside once, snapped the box shut, and casually stuffed it into his own Universe Bag.
"We'll take these, but that's not what we came for." The young red-robed figure looked up at the Lord of the Dark Night.
"Then what is your purpose?" The Lord of the Dark Night's brow furrowed, and a flicker of unease crossed his eyes.
It was the first time Chu Feng had ever seen such an expression on the Lord of the Dark Night's face.
He was afraid.
Clearly, he too had realized that these two red-robed figures were nothing like Chu Feng and the others — they would not be easy to deal with at all.
