While Chu Feng was leading the spirit army to rescue everyone, a tremendous change was also taking place within the Demon Spirit Clan.
At that moment, every member of the Demon Spirit Clan had gathered before the stone statue they had worshipped for tens of thousands of years.
They stared at the statue, their gazes complex.
Because the pendant on the statue's chest was rather peculiar.
Inside it was a special object, and that object had now completely filled the pendant.
And at this moment, the pendant was radiating brilliant light — its glow so dazzling it was as though a second sun had descended.
The members of the Demon Spirit Clan had never known what the pendant truly represented, only that it must carry extraordinary significance.
Now that the pendant was full and had stirred up such a commotion, it most likely meant something momentous was about to happen.
Crack—
Crack—
Suddenly, cracks began to appear on the stone statue.
"Clan Master, what—what do we do?"
Seeing this, the Demon Spirit Clan members panicked, all turning their gazes toward the Clan Master.
And the Clan Master did not dare delay either. She rushed forward, attempting to halt the statue's crumbling.
Boom—
However, before the Clan Master could even get close to the statue, a powerful force erupted from within it, sending her hurtling away.
The Clan Master shot into the crowd of Demon Spirit Clan members like an arrow, sending bodies tumbling everywhere she went.
When she finally came to a stop, those she had plowed through were dead on the spot, and the Clan Master herself had every bone in her body shattered, gravely wounded.
"Clan Master!!!"
The Demon Spirit Clan members rushed forward to treat her injuries, but upon examining the wound, they broke into tears of distress.
The Clan Master's injuries were so severe that her life was likely beyond saving.
"That... that is?"
But just then, someone staring at the statue let out a cry of shock, their jaw dropping.
When the others looked, they were equally terrified.
The statue had completely shattered, and in its place stood a figure.
He was a middle-aged man of ordinary appearance and unusual attire.
Yet despite looking so unremarkable, he was identical to the statue in every way.
The only difference was...
He was no longer a stone statue, but a living, breathing person.
Seeing this sight before them, the Demon Spirit Clan members realized what had happened. One by one, they were struck dumb with shock, so stunned they could not even speak.
The man stretched his bones and joints, then reached out and took the pendant from his chest.
Looking at the pendant's current state, a faint smile rose at the corner of his lips.
"So it really was that brat?"
"All these years of waiting were not in vain after all."
The man spoke, and though he appeared middle-aged, his voice was remarkably ancient — the kind of voice that only the most elderly of old men would possess.
"My Lord, is... is that you?"
"Could it be that you... you never died?"
A weak voice came from the Demon Spirit Clan Clan Master.
In truth, she could not be certain, but judging by the situation before her, she could think of no other explanation than that their lord from tens of thousands of years ago had been resurrected.
"I have never died. I have always been here," the man said.
"My Lord, if you never died, then why did you not speak for all these years? Was it that statue that restrained you?" the Clan Master asked with concern.
"What absurdity. That poison of yours — the Demon Spirit Clan's — did you truly think it had the power to restrain me? That statue was something I transformed into myself," the man said.
"My Lord, then why... why did you—?"
The Clan Master and every member of the Demon Spirit Clan were deeply puzzled.
"There is still time, so I will let you understand clearly before you go."
The man first glanced up at the sky beyond, then sat cross-legged and turned to face the gathered Demon Spirit Clan members.
"Back then, I came here on the guidance of a great expert."
"That expert told me to come to this place and find your Demon Spirit Clan, saying that here I would wait for a junior — a junior who could help me perfect my divine technique."
"Everything I did back then was in accordance with that expert's instructions, including forging the puppet army for your clan."
"That expert even foresaw two possible outcomes."
"The first was that your Demon Spirit Clan would be grateful for my help and treat me with warm hospitality. If that were the case, I could have waited even sooner for the person who would help me perfect my divine technique, and your Demon Spirit Clan would have reached an unprecedented level of prosperity because of my arrival."
"Unfortunately, your Demon Spirit Clan clearly lacked such insight — and therefore lacked such destiny."
At this point, the man let out a mocking smile.
Hearing this, the Demon Spirit Clan members, rather than protesting, looked upon themselves with expressions of shame.
They all knew what had happened back then. It had indeed been their clan's fault.
