A wave of despair washed over the entire Wolong Martial Sect.
Many people had gone limp as deflated balloons, lacking even the strength to stand as they crumpled to the ground.
Driving the Wolong
Before, when they believed the great tribulation had been resolved, their spirits had been high enough to keep them going.
But now, upon discovering that the tribulation had not actually been broken, their morale plummeted — and with it, their endurance. Many could no longer even muster the strength to stand.
"
"Today, the Sect Master mobilized the entire sect's power to activate the Wolong Heavenly God Formation to aid you, yet you… still could not break this tribulation."
"Tell me, how do you intend to bear responsibility for this?"
The Vice Sect Master pointed at Chu Feng and lashed out in fury.
The elders and disciples were all momentarily stunned by the sight of the Vice Sect Master like this.
Though the Vice Sect Master held a high and powerful position, he had always been kind and approachable in his dealings with others. He handled matters fairly and impartially, rarely making things difficult for disciples or elders.
This was the first time anyone had seen the Vice Sect Master treat someone with such severity.
Still, most felt it was understandable.
The tribulation had indeed arisen because of Chu Feng — that was an indisputable fact.
Whether intentional or not, Chu Feng was the root cause.
"Now is not the time for this."
But at that moment, the very Sect Master who had been warning Chu Feng all along did not direct her anger toward him.
Instead, after glancing at the sky-obscuring tribulation, she turned her gaze to
"Zi Ling, help your master up."
At the Sect Master's words, Zi Ling hurried to comply.
Once the Sect Master was on her feet, she took the scroll.
She tore away the restriction talisman paper directly, then unfurled the scroll.
Hummmm—
A beam of light shot into the sky.
Seeing this, the elders and disciples all rushed to their knees. Not only did they gaze up at the sky in a posture of kneeling reverence, but their eyes were also filled with awe.
That… was the treasure left behind by the founding ancestor — something that could only be opened when the Wolong Martial Sect faced mortal peril.
The light soared upward and quickly coalesced into several lines of large characters that hung suspended in the sky.
But once the disciples clearly read those words, they exchanged bewildered glances, their faces masks of disbelief.
Even the Sect Master's eyes were tinged with despair.
…………
I established the Wolong Martial Sect for the purpose of cultivating supreme powerhouses capable of saving the Martial cultivation world from its suffering.
However, I was never fortunate enough to find such a person.
In my disappointment, I had considered disbanding the sect. But seeing how dearly the disciples cherished it, I could not bring myself to do so.
And so I set the great tribulation as a test.
The tribulation's difficulty is very low. Under normal circumstances, it should be broken with ease.
But if there comes a day when even such a trivial tribulation cannot be overcome, it will mean the Wolong Martial Sect no longer has reason to exist.
Since this scroll has been opened, I believe… that such a moment has arrived.
All disciples of this sect, hear my command: the Wolong Martial Sect is hereby dissolved. Scatter in all directions and do not linger, for this tribulation is no empty threat. When it descends, you too will vanish without a trace.
…………
That was the content of the scroll.
No one had ever imagined that at this critical juncture — the moment between life and death — the scroll they believed would be their salvation would contain something like this.
Yet these words also laid bare the founding ancestor's disappointment.
Could their generation truly be this weak — unable to fend off a tribulation that even the founding ancestor considered trivial?
If a sect that had endured for tens of thousands of years was dissolved because of them, would they not be the criminals who destroyed the Wolong Martial Sect?
But if one were to name criminals, then Chu Feng… was clearly the chief among them.
Reading the words suspended in the sky, the weight on Chu Feng's shoulders only grew heavier.
Swhoosh—
Suddenly, Chu Feng felt his body moving rapidly through the air.
Zi Ling was with him.
It was
"Brother Duan, what are you doing?" Chu Feng asked.
"What am I doing?"
"Didn't you read what was on the scroll?"
"The Wolong Martial Sect is about to be dissolved because of you."
"Do you think the Sect Master will let you off?"
"Take Zi Ling and leave — now. Get as far away from the
Duan Liufeng said.
"Brother Duan, this all started because of me. I can't just run away."
"Let me go back. I want to try one more time."
Chu Feng said.
"Try? Try with what?"
"Just now, with the power of the Wolong Heavenly God Formation bolstering you, you still couldn't break the tribulation. How are you going to break it now?"
Duan Liufeng asked.
"There may be another way. Since this tribulation arose because of me, there must be a method to break it."
Chu Feng said.
"Is there really a method?"
Even Duan Liufeng hesitated.
After all, this concerned the very survival of the Wolong Martial Sect. If there truly was still a chance, he did not want to see the sect dissolve either.
"Go — quickly."
But suddenly, Duan Liufeng seemed to sense something. His expression changed drastically. With a sweep of his sleeve, he hurled Chu Feng and Zi Ling away.
The two of them shot off like arrows loosed from a bow, flying toward the distant horizon.
By the time their bodies were finally free of his force, they found themselves incredibly far from Duan Liufeng.
He had flung them an enormous distance with raw physical strength.
