The Shura Ghost Tower had a history of over ten thousand years. Legend had it that a tremendous treasure lay hidden within, but to this day, no one had ever seen what that treasure looked like.
However, setting the treasure aside, for Spirit World Masters, the Shura Ghost Tower was absolutely a priceless treasure. The spiritual pressure contained within could enhance one's Mental Power.
Back when the Spirit World Guild had been established here, their goal had been to claim the Shura Ghost Tower as their own. As such, the tower could be considered the Spirit World Guild's most important asset.
Even now, during the ongoing war, the Spirit World Guild had still dispatched numerous powerhouses to guard this place. However, when Chu Feng arrived and requested entry, the guardians did not refuse him.
After all, they already knew that Chu Feng had saved the Spirit World Guild's outstanding young generation. To them, Chu Feng was now a great benefactor of the Guild — how could they possibly refuse such a modest request from their benefactor?
And so, Chu Feng and Zi Ling entered the Shura Ghost Tower together. With Zi Ling's talent, reaching the legendary sixth floor was naturally no difficulty — in fact, it was extremely easy.
However, when Chu Feng opened the entrance to the seventh floor, Zi Ling encountered an invisible barrier. No matter what she tried, she could not set foot beyond it. And this was a barrier that Chu Feng himself could not sense.
"Chu Feng, this invisible barrier on the seventh floor is very powerful. Unless you have a special method to break through, I won't be able to enter. Go on ahead yourself, but please be very careful."
Zi Ling stood on the sixth floor, watching Chu Feng on the seventh, smiling sweetly. But in her beautiful eyes, a trace of worry surfaced.
She had long heard Chu Feng mention that a demon beast was imprisoned here. This beast was incredibly powerful — a century ago, it had effortlessly defeated two geniuses, Jie Shi and Gu Tianchen. It was very likely a purple-robed Spirit World Master, and after a hundred years, it would surely have grown even stronger.
Then there was the matter of the mysterious demon beast that had told Chu Feng to go to Myriad Demon Mountain to enhance his Mental Power — but in reality, the mountain was guarded by five Demon Kings and filled with countless traps, nearly costing Chu Feng his life. All of this made Zi Ling feel that the demon beast imprisoned here was not entirely trustworthy.
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing." Chu Feng gave a faint smile and turned to walk toward the place where the demon beast was imprisoned.
As for that mysterious demon beast, Chu Feng naturally didn't trust it either. The reason he had come here once more to rescue it, without hesitation, was because he now had a thorough plan in place.
Passing through the corridor forged from powerful barriers, Chu Feng finally reached the end. Here stood a barrier cage, and inside was a demon beast with sharp fangs, blood-red eyes, and a pair of pointed ears.
The beast looked rather frail, and it didn't emit any particularly powerful aura, giving an impression of extreme weakness. But Chu Feng knew that this creature was a very dangerous existence — and it was the very being he had come to save.
"Haha, kid! You finally came looking for this great lord!"
"Haha, impressive! Just two years, and you've actually become a blue-robed Spirit World Master!"
"How did you get close to that Shura Ghost Axe? Are my five little apprentices doing well? Are all the little guys at Myriad Demon Mountain okay?" This demon beast was, as always, lively and animated. Upon seeing Chu Feng, it was overjoyed, firing off question after question.
"My becoming a blue-robed Spirit World Master does have something to do with you, but ultimately, I did it on my own."
"Back then, you told me that following the map you gave would lead me to a tool to enhance my Mental Power. But you never mentioned that Myriad Demon Mountain was such a dangerous place! Do you have any idea how close I came to being killed because of your half-truths?" Chu Feng's expression was cold, his face full of anger as he demanded answers.
"Hehe, but you're alive and well, aren't you? If I'd told you everything, it wouldn't have been fun. This way is much more interesting — at least it proves that this great lord didn't pick the wrong person."
"Quick, come here! This great lord will teach you how to set up a barrier array. As long as we coordinate from the inside and outside, in ten days I'll be able to leave this place." The demon beast grinned broadly, showing no trace of guilt whatsoever — it even seemed to think it had done everything right.
"You want me to help you get out? Fine. But right now, I can't trust you at all. So if you want me to rescue you from here, you'll have to do as I say." Chu Feng spoke firmly.
"Oh? Kid, you want this great lord to follow your orders? Hehe, sure! As long as I can get out of here, anything goes. Tell me — what do I need to do?" The demon beast didn't refuse at all. Instead, it asked with a cheerful grin, as though it truly didn't care about anything other than its freedom.
"Hum." Chu Feng didn't answer. Instead, he overlapped his hands, focused his will, and a barrier gate materialized before him. From within that gate, Dan Dan stepped out.
"Is that — a Spirit World Spirit from the Shura Spirit Realm!" Upon seeing Dan Dan, the demon beast's pupils contracted, a look of shock crossing its face. Then it exclaimed, "Wow, kid, you're really something! You actually managed to form a contract with a Spirit World Spirit from the Shura Spirit Realm! No wonder you were able to enter here so easily. Impressive, truly impressive!"
"Hey, little beast, you want to get out of here, right? If you want out, then do as this Queen commands — set up a teleportation array for me." As she spoke, Dan Dan lightly tapped her finger, and layers of ethereal energy emerged, sketching out the configuration of a teleportation array in the air before her.
Meanwhile, Chu Feng had already begun setting up the array.
"Hehe, you're a clever little girl to be able to command such an impressive teleportation array. With coordination from both sides, this array could indeed bypass the barrier that confines me and transport certain objects."
"However, the objects that can be transported are too small. You could send me some food from outside — that'd work. But teleporting this great lord out? Almost impossible." The demon beast didn't follow Dan Dan's instructions to set up the array. Instead, it smiled dismissively.
"Who said we were going to use this array to teleport you out? I'm going to teleport something in and have you eat it."
Dan Dan smiled sweetly, and a small, round, black object appeared in her hand. The object was no larger than a fingernail, but it emanated layers of dark energy. Looking more closely, that round object was actually a tiny black skull.
"You little girl are really something, trying to make this great lord swallow such a poisonous thing." The demon beast frowned slightly, but a nonchalant smile still hung on its face.
"Relax, this won't kill you. It will only bind your thoughts. If you harbor any ill intent toward Chu Feng, it will torment you. But if you have no evil intentions toward him, it won't affect you in the slightest," Dan Dan explained.
"Hehe, little girl, kid — you two don't trust me. I get it. And I can understand why you'd want me to take something like this."
"But what about me? Why should I trust you? You say this isn't poison, but what if it is? Besides, why would I willingly eat something like this? What if it's some kind of thought-suppressing substance, and you use it to control me, forcing me to do things I don't want to do?" The demon beast said with a pout.
"You have no choice. Either you set up the teleportation array right now, transport this inside, and swallow it — or we'll leave immediately, and you can wait here in the Shura Ghost Tower until you die of old age." As Dan Dan spoke, she turned and began to walk away. Chu Feng also stopped setting up the array and turned to leave.
"Hey, wait! Fine, this great lord admits defeat. I'll eat it, okay?" But just then, from behind Chu Feng and Dan Dan, came the demon beast's voice of concession.
Chu Feng turned around, and his expression shifted slightly — for he saw that a teleportation array had already materialized before the demon beast. It was precisely the array Dan Dan had asked it to construct.
This array was extremely difficult to set up — that was why it had taken Chu Feng so long and he still hadn't finished. Yet this very demon beast had completed it in an instant.
