Aside from those who had ascended into the second and third worlds, everyone who remained in the first world seemed to have reached a tacit understanding. They first sat in orderly rows, cultivating and absorbing the chess power between heaven and earth.
After a period of absorption, they almost simultaneously rose to their feet.
Standing there now, they looked like warriors primed for battle — each one brimming with spirit and radiating a fierce aura.
But there was one exception: Chu Feng.
Compared to the others who were ready for battle, Chu Feng remained seated on the ground with his eyes closed, resting.
"Chu Feng, isn't it about time?"
"If we wait any longer, the other side will have already claimed all eight sacred grounds," someone said to Chu Feng.
"Forget it. He just got here. He probably hasn't even figured out how to absorb the chess power yet."
"Then what do we do? Are we just going to let him waste a spot for nothing?"
"Whatever. It's not like we're short one person."
"Sigh, fine. What can you do? He's the son of Chu Xuanyuan, and even Miss Xianyun has to give him face."
The crowd murmured among themselves. Though their voices were low, they were filled with discontent toward Chu Feng.
"Look! Those guys from the Allheaven Starfield have already taken the sacred grounds."
Suddenly, someone pointed toward the distant mountain range and shouted.
Looking closely, they could indeed see that the juniors from the Allheaven Starfield had already appeared around the eight sacred grounds on the mountain peaks.
However, they hadn't immediately claimed those grounds. Instead, they turned their gazes toward Chu Feng's side.
Some even made waving motions, beckoning the juniors from the Ancestral Martial Starfield to hurry over.
"They haven't even moved — this is nothing but provocation. We have to teach them a proper lesson."
A man from the Ancestral Martial Dragon City said irritably.
It wasn't just him. Many of the juniors present were extremely displeased.
"Don't be hasty."
Just then, a man from the Demon Beast Holy City suddenly spoke up.
And when he spoke, the restless crowd — who had been on the verge of rushing up the mountain to fight the Allheaven Starfield juniors head-on — calmed down.
That was because the man from the Demon Beast Holy City held a flag in his hand. Possessing that flag proved he was no ordinary person — at the very least, he held a position of authority within this chess formation.
He was a Flag Commander.
Within the chess formation, each side had one Commander, three Flag Commanders, and nine Division Commanders.
Their role was to command the crowd and deploy formations.
Xianyun was the Commander. She would issue orders to the three Flag Commanders, who in turn could issue orders to the Division Commanders.
They could use their flags to relay battlefield information to one another. Although they couldn't achieve voice transmission, it was more than sufficient for deploying formations.
Most importantly, if the Commander was powerful enough, she could use her flags to channel her own chess power and provide assistance to the Flag Commanders.
Thus, the Commander, Flag Commanders, and Division Commanders all played vitally important roles within this Ancient Warriors Chess.
"Charge!"
Suddenly, the Flag Commander let out a loud shout, then shot into the air. The others followed close behind, charging toward the mountain range.
"Hey, what's going on over there? Why is there still one person sleeping?"
A loud voice rang out from the mountain range — someone from the Allheaven Starfield.
The person they were referring to was none other than Chu Feng, who was still absorbed in absorbing chess power.
"Hmph. Even with one fewer person, we'll still win," said the Flag Commander from the Demon Beast Holy City.
"Oh my. Sixty people in this world — planning to gang up on us?"
"It's not about ganging up. It's just that the Ancestral Martial Starfield has so many incompetent fighters who couldn't make it into the second world that they're all stuck here in the first. They have no choice, really."
"Hahaha…"
Mocking and sarcastic voices continuously rose from among the Allheaven Starfield juniors.
Their taunts weren't entirely unfounded. In this first world, counting Chu Feng, a total of sixty people had remained.
On the Allheaven Starfield's side, there were only forty-three.
