The roars grew closer and closer. From the distant night sky, Chu Feng could see swarms of what looked like fireflies hurtling toward him from every direction.
But they were no fireflies — they were pairs of enormous eyes, and only because of the sheer distance did they resemble flickering lights.
Judging by the size of those eyes, Chu Feng could deduce that these creatures had to be enormous. The shortest among them couldn't possibly be less than ten thousand meters tall.
As the monsters charged toward him, Chu Feng activated his Heavenly Eye.
Under its power, the creatures were revealed in full detail.
They were humanoid in shape, nearly identical in appearance, each standing at least ten thousand meters tall.
Yet they had no hair, no noses, and no ears. Aside from those massive eyes that radiated an eerie glow, all they possessed was a gaping maw.
The creatures' entire bodies were pitch-black — even their mouths and fangs were the same dark hue. So even when they opened their jaws and let out a roar, unless one looked very carefully, one might not even notice their mouths were open at all.
Only their pair of eyes stood out, emanating a ghostly white light that drew the gaze.
And there were countless such monsters, surging toward Chu Feng's position like a tide from every direction.
Their movements might have appeared sluggish, but in truth, their speed was staggering.
In the blink of time, the massive horde of creatures had closed to within a hundred thousand meters of Chu Feng.
And a hundred thousand meters was precisely the range of that formation's attacks!
"Here comes the show."

The moment Chu Feng's words left his mouth, the outermost formation blazed with extraordinary brilliance.
It began releasing bolts of white flame that coalesced into arrows in midair, raining outward in a relentless volley.
The arrows were devastatingly powerful — each one was ten meters long and half a foot wide, yet when they pierced through the monsters, they carved out wounds dozens of meters in diameter upon their bodies.
And those arrows flew like rain.
The creatures had nowhere to dodge. In the span of a single blink, the ones nearest to Chu Feng were obliterated into fragments.
"These monsters are nothing special," Chu Feng said.
"Don't underestimate them. They act as one. The more force they absorb, the more it awakens their true power."
However, unlike Chu Feng, the little girl wore a look of deep gravity, refusing to let her guard down in the slightest.
This made Chu Feng realize that the creatures' abilities were far from exhausted — though he didn't fully grasp what the little girl meant.
It wasn't until the next scene unfolded that understanding hit him like a bolt of lightning.

The monsters in the front shrieked miserably, dropping one after another, yet the roars from the creatures further back only grew more ear-piercing.
They began to open their massive jaws, and had Chu Feng not witnessed it himself, he never would have believed those monsters could open their mouths so impossibly wide.
Wide enough to swallow an adjacent creature of equal size in a single gulp.
That was right — the monsters were devouring their own kind.
Some of the attempts at devouring failed. Not only did those creatures explode on the spot, but the blast also destroyed nearby companions.
Those that succeeded, however, saw their pitch-black mouths turn blood red. Their black fangs became crimson, and their eyes shifted to a deep scarlet as well.
Their appearance grew far more savage.
Moreover, these evolved creatures didn't just gain a noticeable boost in speed.
The critical change was that their skin had become incredibly tough.
Against such monsters, the arrows' damage diminished dramatically.
The arrows could still pierce through their bodies, but the wounds were clean punctures — they no longer left gaping, devastating gashes.
What was truly terrifying was that the evolved creatures began devouring each other once more, and their bodies underwent yet another visible transformation.
Red scales began to spread across their pitch-black bodies, and their sharp nails transformed into blood-colored blades.
