Rumble—
After Chu Feng entered the Dark Gate, he was swept into a massive black vortex.
The vortex was enormous, stretching from the heavens down to the earth. When Chu Feng fell into it, it was like an ant tossed into the ocean — no matter how powerful he might be, he could only drift with the current.
Within the vortex, not only did hurricanes rage, but bolts of lightning crashed in wave after wave.
The serpents of lightning were a thousand meters thick and tens of thousands of meters long, roaring like colossal dragons as they tore through the void, seemingly capable of splitting heaven and earth apart.
And these lightning serpents numbered in the thousands upon thousands, stampeding and shrieking as they surged through the darkness.
Even Chu Feng, standing in the midst of this, felt fear creep into his heart and an unease he could not shake.
But Chu Feng had dared to enter this place, which meant he had long steeled himself — not only for danger, but quite possibly for death.
In truth, however, Chu Feng did not truly believe his death was certain. Had he been convinced he would die, he might never have stepped through in the first place.
The reason Chu Feng had entered without the slightest hesitation was not solely because he wanted to rescue the members of the Chu Heavenly Clan and his friends.
Standing before the Dark Gate, Chu Feng had felt a sensation — a calling, as though some power were beckoning to him.
Chu Feng could not be sure what it was, but he could sense that it bore no ill will.
That was why he had believed the choice — where either he or everyone else could survive — was likely another trial. And so he chose to step inside.
Now, although dangers lurked on every side, at the very least Chu Feng was still alive.
The hurricane before him was terrifying, but it also seemed like a passage leading somewhere — which only further confirmed his earlier suspicion.
And so, the panic that had gripped his heart gradually began to settle.
Crack—!
Boom—!
But suddenly, a searing bolt of white light closed in — it was lightning.
The bolt struck Chu Feng directly.
Everything happened too fast. Before Chu Feng could even register the pain in his body, he lost consciousness.
…
When Chu Feng came to, he had assumed that opening his eyes again would mean he had arrived in hell.
He couldn't be blamed for that assumption — that lightning had been far too powerful. In the instant it struck, he had genuinely believed he was finished.
Yet when Chu Feng opened his eyes, he discovered that he should not have died.
Because the sight before him looked nothing like hell. If anything, it resembled a celestial realm far more closely.
Chu Feng was lying on a patch of emerald-green grass. Floating peaks surrounded him, and waterfalls cascaded through the air.
Even the sky overhead was a striking shade of blue.
"You're awake?"
Suddenly, a finger poked him in the cheek.
