"Damn it, how is this thing so powerful?"
At that moment, Chu Feng's heart sank. Though he had been mentally prepared, he hadn't expected that a single random evil spirit would be so difficult to deal with.
After all, he was now a Saint-cloak Spirit World Master, possessing combat power on par with a first-tier Revered.
"It seems I can only risk everything."
"Egg Egg, I hope you won't blame me."
Chu Feng opened one palm. A torrent of barrier power continued to pour from his body, converging into barrier formations to fend off the evil spirit's assault, while his other hand reached into his Universe Bag.
Faced with this situation, Chu Feng had no choice but to turn to the Evil God Sword for help.
Although he had no idea whether the Evil God Sword's power could stand up to an evil spirit of this caliber.
When he had used the Evil God Sword in the past, it had displayed power that was virtually unmatched — but back then, the opponents Chu Feng had faced were still weak.
Now, things were entirely different. As Chu Feng's own strength had grown, so too had the power of his adversaries, by an immeasurable degree.
What kind of power the Evil God Sword truly held, Chu Feng couldn't say for certain. All he knew was that the Evil God Sword was bizarre and dangerous, and should not be touched lightly.
But at this point, he had been backed into a corner. He could only draw the Evil God Sword and give it a try.
"This guy?"
But just then, Chu Feng's expression suddenly shifted. He sensed that the Qilin Egg inside his Universe Bag was actually responding.
It was a restless, eager feeling — though he couldn't be sure, Chu Feng sensed that the Qilin Egg seemed to rather like the evil spirit before him.
Whoosh—
Suddenly, the Qilin Egg within Chu Feng's Universe Bag erupted with an enormous suction force once more.
The suction swept outward, instantly engulfing that massive evil spirit claw.
Aaaargh—
A scream echoed from deep within the passage. The claw began to tremble violently, trying to retract itself.
But it was too late. It was far too late.
Chu Feng watched with his own eyes as the enormous claw warped before him, quickly becoming unrecognizable before transforming into a massive stream of gas that followed the suction into his Universe Bag.
More precisely, it flowed into the Qilin Egg within his Universe Bag.
"What just happened? How did that claw suddenly dissolve?" Wu Ma Shengjie stared in shock at the place where the claw had vanished, the unease in her eyes growing rather than fading — because everything about this was far too bizarre.
Seeing Wu Ma Shengjie like this, Chu Feng was equally surprised. "Girl, you didn't sense that?"
"Was that you? Did you destroy that claw?" Wu Ma Shengjie looked at Chu Feng with utter disbelief.
"No, it wasn't me." Chu Feng shook his head.
At this point, he was certain that the suction force emanating from the Qilin Egg was something only he could perceive. No one else could sense it at all — otherwise, Wu Ma Shengjie wouldn't be acting like this.
"However, it seems we now have a treasure for dealing with these evil spirits," Chu Feng said.
"What treasure?" Wu Ma Shengjie asked.
"There's no need to hide it from you." As he spoke, Chu Feng produced the Qilin Egg.
He then told Wu Ma Shengjie about how the Qilin Egg had refined that evil spirit.
Chu Feng was willing to share this with Wu Ma Shengjie because he trusted her — after all, she had fallen into this place specifically to save him.
"You're sure? You're sure this so-called Qilin Egg refined that evil spirit?" Wu Ma Shengjie regarded his words with more doubt than belief. It wasn't that she didn't trust Chu Feng — it was just that no matter how she looked at it, this egg hardly resembled a Qilin Egg.
"Actually, I can't be sure of the extent of what this egg can do either. So, wait here for me while I go test the waters."
After saying this, Chu Feng launched himself forward, plunging deeper into the passage.
He intended to venture in alone and have Wu Ma Shengjie wait behind. Only if things turned out to be truly safe would he call for her.
But almost the moment Chu Feng moved, Wu Ma Shengjie followed right after him.
"It seems there's no point in saying anything," Chu Feng realized. Wu Ma Shengjie wasn't going to stay behind — even knowing the danger, she intended to investigate alongside him.
"If you already know there's no point, then don't bother — just get me out of here," Wu Ma Shengjie said.
"I'll do my best." Chu Feng smiled faintly, then increased his speed descending into the depths.
Grooowl—
Soon, another evil spirit lunged at them.
It resembled a snake, yet was not a snake. Its cavernous maw gaped wide open, and though they couldn't tell how long its body was, that gaping maw alone was hundreds of meters across. Each single tooth was a hundred meters long, and that monstrous mouth was packed with them — hundreds upon hundreds, by rough estimate.
Such a terrifying maw was not only repulsive but absolutely horrifying, especially when paired with its blood-curdling shriek. Even Wu Ma Shengjie's face went pale with fear.
Aaaargh—
But as the evil spirit closed in, it suddenly began to warp, quickly transforming into a massive stream of gas that swept past Wu Ma Shengjie and Chu Feng. And in moments… that gas, too, had dissipated.
