"That's a dark passage guaranteed to lead to death! Chu Feng jumped in of his own accord — isn't he just throwing his life away?"
Many people were shocked by Chu Feng's actions, especially those who didn't know him well but had still wagered Immortal Martial Stones on him.
They had been hoping that Chu Feng's heaven-defying strength would let him claim first place in this Ancestral Martial Ten Stars selection, letting them rake in a fortune.
Well, that was all for nothing now. Every single one of those Immortal Martial Stones had gone down the drain.
As for Chu Feng, he hadn't really thought it through. In that instant, he had simply made the decision on instinct.
After all, Wu Ma Shengjie had fallen into that guaranteed-death dark passage because she was trying to save him. How could Chu Feng just stand by and do nothing?
The moment Chu Feng dove in, he found Wu Ma Shengjie right away.
She was sitting near the entrance, but her body was already ravaged — lightning had torn through her flesh, and hurricane winds had gnawed at her bones. Her injuries were far from minor.
Wu Ma Shengjie was in the process of healing herself.
Upon seeing this, Chu Feng stepped forward without a second word and began treating her wounds.
"Chu Feng? How did you get in here?"
Wu Ma Shengjie was visibly startled when she saw him.
"Don't talk."
Chu Feng simply said those three words, then continued treating her injuries.
Although Wu Ma Shengjie's wounds were considerable, Chu Feng had arrived in time to help, and the injuries were primarily paralyzing in nature rather than lethal. Within moments, her condition had improved significantly.
What remained would require Wu Ma Shengjie to continue recovery on her own over time.
"Why did you follow me in? Do you not value your life?" Wu Ma Shengjie glared at him, quite upset.
"Then why did you block that attack for me? Do you not value your life?" Chu Feng shot back.
"I wasn't trying to save you. I was going to push you out of the way and dodge at the same time — I just underestimated that thing's speed and got hit. It was an accident, not some deliberate rescue." Wu Ma Shengjie huffed.
"Well, you still saved me," Chu Feng said.
"We're at least friends. Would you have me just watch you die?"
"Anyway, why were you so fixated on this death passage before? That Linghu Tiemian sneaked over and you didn't even notice," Wu Ma Shengjie added.
"Fine, fine, I was wrong, okay? We're already in here, so let's figure out how to get out," Chu Feng said.
"Looks like we'll have to see what this so-called guaranteed-death dark passage is all about," Wu Ma Shengjie said.
She said this because both she and Chu Feng could see it plainly — the way they had come in was gone. Behind them stood a wall, and it was far too solid to break through.
They had no choice now but to press forward.
"Come on. If it's fortune, it won't be disaster; if it's disaster, there's no dodging it," Chu Feng said with a faint smile. Then he launched himself forward into the unknown path ahead.
"That guy — does he not have a heart?" Wu Ma Shengjie sighed in exasperation.
This place was a verified guaranteed-death dark passage. Anyone else who fell in here would have been scared witless, probably bawling their eyes out.
But Chu Feng? Not only was there no trace of fear on his face, he was actually smiling — as if, to him, this wasn't a death trap at all, but rather some sort of exciting adventure.
"Sigh… No wonder they say people without a care in the world live happier lives. Seems like it's really true."
