"It's not impossible, but there's no point in speculating now. Why not wait until your strength is sufficient, then return here and venture deeper? That way, you'll have your answer," the Queen said.
"That makes sense — I was thinking the same thing, actually. Eggie, what is it with us always thinking the same way? Could this be what they call a meeting of minds?"
"Hmph, you haven't even reached half my brilliance and wit. Who's having a meeting of minds with you?" Eggie pouted her little mouth and rolled her beautiful eyes, shooting him a look of disdain.
"Heh heh." Chu Feng chuckled foolishly again. Every time he managed to get even the slightest edge over the Queen, he was delighted about it.
"Oh right, Eggie — there's one more thing." Suddenly, Chu Feng seemed to have remembered something important.
"What now?" the Queen asked.
"When I broke through to the Dragon Veined Immortal-level Spirit World Master, I sensed a calling from a Spirit World being," Chu Feng said.
"What? A calling from a Spirit World being? You mean a spirit from the Asura World wants to follow you?" the Queen asked, clearly surprised.
It was typically the Spirit World Master who summoned spirits. It was exceedingly rare to hear of a spirit calling out to a Spirit World Master instead.
After all, if a Spirit World Master did not perform the summoning, the spirit would have no way of knowing the master even existed.
"It seems like, maybe, possibly, it wants to follow me — otherwise, why would it call out to me?" Chu Feng said.
"Did you sense its strength? If it's powerful, why didn't you just summon it over right then?" the Queen asked.
"I didn't have time to sense much before the calling faded. But honestly, regardless of its strength, I'm not interested. I think having just you, my Queen, is more than enough," Chu Feng said.
"Oh, stop flattering yourself. If it could actually help you, I wouldn't mind at all if you summoned other spirits."
"That said, I think you really ought to try summoning other spirits now, Chu Feng. You should know that spirits from our
"If you could summon one with a cultivation above your own, wouldn't that become a tremendous aid on your path of martial cultivation?"
"And even if it grows too slowly in the future, you can always summon another one. That's what every Spirit World Master does," the Queen said.
"But..." Chu Feng still hesitated.
His very first spirit had been the Queen. Without her help all this way, forget reaching where he was today — he probably would have died long ago.
His Spirit World space had grown considerably larger as his Spirit World techniques had strengthened over time.
Now, it could easily hold not just a handful of spirits, but tens of thousands without issue.
However, to Chu Feng, his Spirit World space was, above all else, the Queen's home.
He didn't want other spirits sharing that space with her.
He was also well aware of what the Queen had brought up.
Spirits chose their Spirit World Masters based on the master's ability, deciding whether or not to follow them.
It was true that spirits could grow stronger by refining the origin energy of martial cultivators.
But a cultivator couldn't spend every day slaughtering others just to strengthen a spirit — besides, the origin energy of the weak was so meager it hardly helped a spirit at all.
This led to a common situation: even if the spirit originally summoned was tremendously powerful — potentially even stronger than the Spirit World Master themselves — if the master grew too quickly, as Chu Feng was apt to do, the spirit would eventually be surpassed.
Once that happened, the spirit became essentially useless, and the master would no longer want to waste time and energy on it.
Under these circumstances, the Spirit World Master would dissolve the contract and cast the weakened spirit back into the Spirit World, then summon a stronger one in its place.
It was a cruel practice, but it was something the vast majority of Spirit World Masters engaged in.
After all, for most of them, spirits were merely a tool of their Spirit World arts.
But Chu Feng was different. He treated spirits as friends, and so he could not bring himself to abandon them — nor did he want to summon a spirit simply to exploit its strength for his own advancement on the martial path.
"Chu Feng, I'm serious. Your Spirit World techniques are formidable, and your talent is even greater. I believe that with your talent, you could summon a spirit even more powerful than yourself."
"You shouldn't waste this talent — after all, it was inherited from your mother."
"All this time, you've been growing by relying on the talent passed down by your father."
"But I think it's time you used the talent inherited from your mother to protect yourself."
"Besides, you are a Spirit World Master. All this time, you've never once taken the initiative to summon a single spirit. Don't you want to know what it feels like — to summon a Spirit World being, to communicate with a life from another world?" the Queen urged him earnestly.
Anything that was good for Chu Feng, she supported unconditionally — even encouraged.
