Chapter 2488. Between Two Years (3)

"Chu Feng, I can't believe that Chu Xuanlang actually agreed to your conditions."

"Still, your situation isn't looking great either. Now that the Kong Heavenly Clan knows you're alive, they definitely won't let you go."

"If you don't use the Evil God Sword, with your current strength alone, there's no way you can truly go up against the Kong Heavenly Clan."

"Besides, don't forget — you still have a hidden enemy, the Soul Infant Sect. That's an opponent you'll have to deal with no matter what."

"Instead of having Chu Xuanlang protect Sunset Cloud Valley and Three Star Hall, why not just have him protect you directly?" the Queen asked.

"My Queen, we still don't know what position this Chu Xuanlang holds within the Chu Heavenly Clan."

"But he's clearly well aware of everything we've done in this Hundred Refinements Ordinary Realm."

"Asking him to protect a force like Sunset Cloud Valley and Three Star Hall is nothing to him — a small favor. But asking him to protect me? That carries a completely different meaning. He might not agree."

"On top of that, if I asked him to protect me, how do you think my father would feel?"

"Haven't the Chu Heavenly Clan already given us father and son enough humiliation?"

"That's exactly why I swore I would never use the Chu Heavenly Clan's name as a shield."

"Which naturally means I also won't ask anyone from the Chu Heavenly Clan to protect me," Chu Feng said.

"Mm. You won't let them protect you, but you can use them to protect your friends. You really handled that beautifully."

"You're getting cleverer by the day, kid. It's been worth investing in you," the Queen said with a grin. As she spoke, a look of smug pride appeared on that stunningly beautiful little face, as though all of this were her accomplishment.

"My Queen, so how about giving me a little reward?" Chu Feng said with a grin.

"What kind of reward do you want?" the Queen asked with an air of innocent naïveté.

"Like a kiss from you, or letting me kiss you — something along those lines?" Chu Feng let out a shameless laugh.

"How boring. How about I chop you once instead? Or maybe twice — what do you think?" The corners of the Queen's lips curled upward in a mischievous arc.

"Ahem… just kidding, don't take it seriously. I can't keep chatting with you — I still need to figure out what Chu Xuanlang is really about. I want to know why he invited me." Chu Feng quickly seized the excuse to extricate himself and turned to speak to Chu Xuanlang.

"Don't ask anything. Once we arrive, you'll understand naturally," Chu Xuanlang said with a faint smile.

Chu Feng was quite surprised. This Chu Xuanlang's powers of perception were truly remarkable — he had been looking straight ahead the entire time, yet he had sensed that Chu Feng was about to speak and even knew what he wanted to ask.

Under the circumstances, Chu Feng simply smiled faintly and refrained from questioning him further.

For the rest of the journey, the two exchanged not a single word.

But Chu Feng could feel that Chu Xuanlang's strength was extraordinary. Even if he was a True Immortal, he was nothing like the True Immortals of the Hundred Refinements Ordinary Realm.

In fact, it was entirely possible that he wasn't merely a True Immortal.

Throughout the journey, everything around Chu Feng had been nothing but a blur. He couldn't make out a single thing clearly.

That told him everything he needed to know about how powerful this man was — otherwise, such speed would be impossible.

Most importantly, even while traveling at this pace, Chu Feng couldn't sense a trace of the man's aura.

And Chu Feng was, after all, a Snake Mark level Spirit World Master with an Immortal Robe. For even him to be unable to see through the other party's cultivation…

That left only two possibilities. Either the other party possessed a supreme treasure that concealed his cultivation.

Or the other party had already reached a level so far beyond that Chu Feng simply had no way of perceiving it.

Given the current situation, the latter seemed far more likely.

Finally, the man came to a stop, and Chu Feng was at last able to see the scenery around him clearly.
