"You know those two people they mentioned?" Nangong Baihe was quite sharp and quickly grasped what Chu Feng was implying.
Chu Feng smiled faintly without answering, but that smile alone was enough to give Nangong Baihe her answer.
"Then they really do deserve to die." Nangong Baihe smiled as well. She understood that if Chu Feng couldn't let something go, it meant those two people the Guang brothers had mentioned must hold some weight for him.
"Oh, right — there's something I wanted to ask you. I hope you don't mind telling me," Chu Feng said suddenly.
"Go ahead and ask. As long as it's something I can share, I'll tell you," Nangong Baihe replied.
"What kind of person is Senior Nangong Longjian?" Chu Feng asked.
Nangong Longjian — Chu Feng had never met the man. The only reason he knew of him was through Bai Ruochen. According to what he'd learned, Bai Ruochen's father was Nangong Longjian, but Bai Ruochen and her mother remained an enigma. Now that he'd finally encountered someone from the Nangong family, Chu Feng wanted to know what sort of person Nangong Longjian truly was.
"You mean Lord Longjian? To be honest, I don't know him very well. I've never met him in my life — I've only heard about his many exploits."
"Lord Longjian is incredibly powerful. Though I've never seen it with my own eyes, he is widely recognized as the strongest among the Nangong Imperial Family's living powerhouses. I doubt even our Clan Leader could match him," Nangong Baihe said.
"That's right, that's right! Lord Longjian is my idol!" The mention of Nangong Longjian brought a look of excitement to Nangong Moli's face.
"Senior Nangong Longjian is really that strong?" Chu Feng had heard rumors of Nangong Longjian's might, but he hadn't expected Nangong Baihe to say he was even more powerful than the Nangong Imperial Family's Clan Leader.
After all, the Clan Leader of the Nangong Imperial Family was a figure who surpassed the presidents of the Nine Powers — not just in strength, but in status as well. His supremacy was acknowledged throughout the Martial Sacred Land.
"He really is that powerful. Senior Longjian once conquered an Imperial Weapon — a true Imperial Weapon, not some half-finished replica or imitation. It was an Imperial Weapon of unmatched, overwhelming might," Nangong Baihe said with a serious expression.
"An Imperial Weapon?" The mention of an Imperial Weapon reminded Chu Feng of the ruins left behind by Qing Xuantian on the Nine Provinces Continent. There, too, had been an Imperial Weapon. Chu Feng had seen it with his own eyes and knew just how terrifying such a thing could be.
And if Nangong Longjian was able to conquer something that terrifying, then yes — he truly must be formidable.
"Does Senior Nangong Longjian have any children?" Chu Feng asked again.
Bai Ruochen was Nangong Longjian's daughter, yet she didn't go by the name Nangong Ruochen — she had taken her mother's surname instead. Chu Feng knew there had to be a story behind that, and he wanted to learn more.
"Children? Of course not. Lord Longjian is wholly devoted to martial cultivation. He roams the most dangerous places throughout the Martial Sacred Land, using peril to break through and pursue ever higher realms of martial arts."
"He's never even taken a wife — how could he have children?" Nangong Baihe denied it outright. Then she pursed her lips, narrowed her eyes, and a mischievous grin spread across her face as she asked, "Hey, hey, hey — you're not harboring some little scheme, are you? If Lord Longjian had a daughter, you'd try to go after her?"
"Just curious," Chu Feng replied with a calm smile. But inwardly, he was now almost certain — Bai Ruochen's connection to Nangong Longjian was indeed no simple matter. Still, Chu Feng firmly believed that Bai Ruochen was Nangong Longjian's daughter. He just didn't know why the world had never been told.
Whether it was because the truth wasn't accepted or deliberately concealed, even Bai Ruochen herself might not have known. Only her mother and Nangong Longjian held the answer.
"Someone's coming." Suddenly, Chu Feng turned his gaze toward the outside of the hall. Within this island's space, there were no obstructions — his sensing ability could cover nearly the entire island. So the moment anyone appeared, he detected it immediately.
