"Bzzzzzzz..."
Several streaks of dark light pierced through the air, clustering together like a swarm of ghostly green meteors. They soared at tremendous speed while emitting eerie cries.
It turned out they weren't fireflies at all, but a horde of dark green monsters that resembled enormous mosquitoes. Each one was roughly the size of a person, with a pair of wings that allowed them to fly freely. Their eyes glowed an ominous red, and their entire bodies radiated a sinister green light — a truly terrifying sight.
Every single one of these creatures possessed strength at least comparable to a Yuan Martial realm expert. With tens of thousands of them gathered together, the pressure they exuded was absolutely horrifying — like an army of tens of thousands of Yuan Martial realm warriors bearing down on Chu Feng.
"Run! Now!" Egg cried out, immediately channeling her power into Chu Feng once more to boost his cultivation.
Chu Feng didn't dare hesitate for even a moment. He circulated the Yuan Force within his body and unleashed the Void Flight Technique, fleeing at maximum speed.
"Bzzz—"
But just then, an dazzling radiance bloomed beneath Chu Feng's feet. The Demon-Subduing Inscription carved into the cave walls suddenly erupted with red light, its glow flooding the entire underground cavern.
"Pffft, pffft, pffft..."
Simultaneously, the dark green entities surged into the red-lit domain — and the instant they crossed the boundary, they detonated one after another, not even leaving behind a shred of residue. They were utterly annihilated.
"That Demon-Subduing Inscription is incredible!" Chu Feng was shaken. If not for that inscription blocking the way, he probably wouldn't have been able to escape at all.
"Don't stop — keep running!" Egg screamed just as Chu Feng had paused to take in the spectacle.
"Rumble rumble rumble!" It was only then that Chu Feng noticed with horror that the lake had erupted into monstrous waves. Towering crests of water, several zhang high, surged toward him like savage beasts.
Worse still, within those azure-blue waves, two beams of dark green light shot outward — a pair of eyes. They were enormous, impossibly so, beyond any description.
A single glance made Chu Feng's entire body shudder violently. An indescribable terror welled up from the depths of his heart — no oppressive aura, no deliberate intimidation, yet those eyes alone were enough to make one's blood run cold.
He didn't need to think twice. He already knew what it was — most likely the evil spirit Egg had warned him about. And what terrified Chu Feng was the realization that if a mere pair of eyes was this overwhelming, how colossal must its true form be?!
Sensing the danger, Chu Feng began fleeing for his life. But even though the Void Flight Technique was astonishingly fast, it still couldn't outrun the surging tidal wave.
The colossal wave rumbled as it crashed into the Demon-Subduing Inscription's red domain. Perhaps the sheer force of the water was too great — its speed seemed entirely disproportionate to its massive size, hurtling toward Chu Feng with unrelenting fury.
"What's going on — is the inscription broken?" The fact that the Demon-Subduing Inscription couldn't stop the wave made Chu Feng's heart pound with fear. If that evil spirit caught up to him, death was a certainty.
"That's just a wave, not the evil spirit itself. How could the inscription block water?" Egg explained. "Don't worry — the evil spirit won't dare approach the Demon-Subduing Inscription. As long as you don't get swept into the lake by the wave, you'll be fine."
And at that very moment, the towering wave was already upon him. A massive wall of water came crashing down directly toward Chu Feng.
