But who could have expected that upon seeing Chu Feng's face, the grey-haired elder's expression would change dramatically? An indescribable joy surged across his features. His gaze was like that of a destitute man who had just stumbled upon an unimaginable treasure — the sight was nothing short of extraordinary.
Overcome with excitement, he seemed to lose all composure. He chased after Chu Feng while shouting: "Young friend Chu Feng, please don't go! Everything before must have been a misunderstanding. Our Southern Greenwood Forest will give you a proper explanation!"
"Don't go, young friend, please don't go!~~~~~~~~~" Seeing that Chu Feng showed no sign of stopping — and that his speed was only increasing — the grey-haired elder grew ever more frantic. He no longer knew what to do. His tone shifted from the earlier threat into a desperate plea.
"Hahaha, this old man is too funny! He's trying to keep you here with such a laughably poor tactic — does he think you're an idiot?" The elder's sudden change of heart sent Eggy into fits of laughter. She found his methods far too childish.
"Who knows what's going on with this elder. Something feels off — especially that look he got when he saw my face. He seemed genuinely shaken. Could it be that he actually knows me?"
But unlike Eggy, Chu Feng sank into deep thought. He felt that something about the grey-haired elder had shifted considerably after seeing his face. Right now, it wasn't that the elder was afraid he would escape — it was that he was afraid Chu Feng would leave. This didn't feel like a scheme anymore. It felt like a sincere attempt to keep him there.
