At this moment, Chu Feng and Dan Dan’s gazes were both fixed inside the treasure chest, utterly captivated by the items within.
Inside the chest, there were three items in total. Each one could be considered a priceless treasure, any single one capable of sparking a bloody war if brought into the world.
The first was a fruit roughly the size of a walnut. It was pale blue, and its surface was covered with a layer of something resembling scales. Between these scales were faint patterns that shimmered with a soft light.
Beyond the light, a subtle fragrance emanated from these patterns. It wasn’t overwhelming, yet it was intoxicating, impossible to resist.
Most importantly, Chu Feng could feel an incredibly powerful surge of Heaven and Earth energy within this scaly fruit. The energy was far stronger than any of the celestial anomalies he had cultivated before.
Yet this fruit clearly wasn’t a celestial anomaly; it seemed more like an ordinary cultivation herb, a common cultivation resource. But the Heaven and Earth energy it contained was anything but ordinary.
It had to be said, this first item already made Chu Feng’s heart race. It wasn’t that he was easily impressed, but the energy contained within this fruit was simply too terrifying. It wouldn’t even be impossible for it to help him break through an entire level of cultivation.
“Dan Dan, do you know what this is?” Chu Feng asked.
“No idea. But I know it’s a good thing that will definitely help improve your cultivation.”
“Besides, looking at its form, it’s more like a fruit. Its formation is relatively complex, but nothing like the complexity of a celestial anomaly. If I’m not mistaken, there should be many more fruits like this. It looks like it grows on a tree.” Dan Dan blinked his large eyes as he spoke.
“Many more?” Hearing this, even Chu Feng couldn’t help but swallow hard. What did Chu Feng need most to improve his cultivation? Cultivation resources, of course.
Now, the appearance of just this single strange fruit had him this excited. If there really were many more like it, what would that mean for him?
“If I’m not mistaken, this fruit isn’t fully mature yet. It’s essentially still a nascent form. If it were half-ripe or fully ripe, the energy contained within would absolutely surpass your imagination.” Dan Dan added with a grin.
“Gulp.” Hearing this, Chu Feng swallowed again, his desire completely ignited by Dan Dan. The desire to find more of these fruits.
“Perhaps that map records the location where these strange fruits can be found,” Dan Dan said, pointing to the second item in the chest.
Indeed, the first item in the chest was this fruit containing immense Heaven and Earth energy. The second item was a map, or at least, it looked very much like one.
It was an ancient-looking map, seemingly inscribed on parchment, currently folded in the center of the chest.
As for the last item, it was a small dagger of a dark golden color throughout. No, to be precise, it wasn’t a dagger. It was more like a staff, yet it wasn’t exactly a staff either.
In any case, the object was beautiful. It circulated with a faint glow. Anyone with a glance could determine it was a treasure of extraordinary origin, yet it wasn’t a weapon. No one knew its purpose; it was a mystery.
Chu Feng unfolded the parchment and found that it truly was a map. Moreover, the map was complex, depicting two versions. One version was visible to everyone.
This version showed a place called Greenwood Mountain, with a great tree depicted upon it. The tree was laden with resplendent fruits, and upon closer inspection, these fruits were identical to the first item in the treasure chest.
Beneath this great tree, a weapon was planted, along with a massive treasure chest. This was practically hinting that at Greenwood Mountain, there was treasure—abundant cultivation resources, a mysterious chest, and a weapon of immense power.
“It’s Greenwood Mountain. I never would have imagined that the treasures recorded in a chest I found elsewhere would be so close to my homeland.”
At this moment, Grandpa Luo had already leaned in. When Chu Feng unfolded the map, he too observed it carefully. However, upon discovering that the treasure was buried somewhere within Greenwood Mountain, he became exceptionally excited.
“Senior Luo, could this Greenwood Mountain be the one you spoke of—one of the Nine Powers, the strongest force ruling this land?” Chu Feng asked.
Because the map depicted Greenwood Mountain as having an enormous area, indicating a vast mountain range. How vast? Probably more vast than anything Chu Feng had ever seen.
Furthermore, Greenwood Mountain’s location was excellent. Such a place couldn’t possibly be unclaimed. So Chu Feng largely assumed this Greenwood Mountain was indeed one of the Nine Powers.
“That’s right. In the Land of Martial Ancestors, there is only one Greenwood Mountain, and it is one of the Nine Powers.” Grandpa Luo nodded.
Hearing Grandpa Luo’s words, Chu Feng’s brows furrowed slightly. He examined the map again, using his Heavenly Eyes to observe the other part—the part Grandpa Luo couldn’t see, because it was the hidden version.
If the public version told the world that the treasure was buried in Greenwood Mountain, then the hidden version revealed to Chu Feng the exact location of that treasure.
Chu Feng could see from the hidden map that the treasure was concealed within a vast world. Within that world were countless mechanisms, many things beyond Chu Feng’s imagination, and some of them were hidden.
In other words, while the hidden map revealed some information to Chu Feng, it still concealed other matters. Even if he could pinpoint the treasure’s exact location, entering it would be fraught with peril.
Chu Feng used his Heavenly Eyes to scrutinize the map thoroughly many times over. Only when he was certain he hadn’t overlooked anything did he subtly move his palm. A layer of flame surged from his hand, reducing the map to ashes.
“Young friend Chu Feng, have you memorized all the content on this map?” The elder wasn’t overly surprised by Chu Feng’s action, because in his place, he would have done the same.
Among the three items in the chest, if one had to say which was most coveted, it was absolutely the map. Because anyone could see it was a treasure map, and carrying such a map was unsafe. It was far better to commit its contents to memory.
“I’ve memorized it all. It’s just that this treasure isn’t as simple as it seems.” As he spoke, Chu Feng put away the object that was both like a staff and a dagger. He couldn’t determine its purpose, but he knew it must be related to the treasure. Keeping it would surely prove useful.
