Above the endless grayish-white fog, inside the magnificent palace.
Leonard Mitchell's figure had just appeared beside the bronze long table when he subconsciously stood up to bow to Mr. Fool.
But as his eyes swept over, he found that seat empty, no one sitting.
Mr. Fool isn't here usually? Leonard thought, and cast his gaze to the far end of the mottled long table.
"The World" sat there silently, blurry as if merged with the gray fog.
"...It's just the two of us, no need to deliberately use Gehrman Sparrow's image," Leonard said casually to "The World" while sitting back down.
After discovering Mr. Fool wasn't there, he immediately became very relaxed, no longer as restrained as during the last Tarot Club meeting, almost propping his legs on the table.
"Habit," Klein briefly replied.
Leonard nodded thoughtfully:
"I've heard that Gehrman Sparrow's image at sea is cold, restrained, refined, and polite. Your current behavior matches that description, but Klein, you weren't like this before. You must remember that you are only acting; don't let the identity of Gehrman Sparrow influence you."
Hey, I pulled you up here to talk about Amon, not to chat! Are you so unconcerned about your old grandfather's matters? Klein indeed habitually used the image of "The World" in such scenes, but after Leonard said that, he felt embarrassed to change back, so he gave an "mm" and said:
"Is 'just acting' something Pallez Zoroaster taught you?"
"Yes," Leonard answered frankly.
This old grandfather seems pretty good, telling such critical and important knowledge to Leonard... Compared to Him, that previous rat demigod was really malicious, teaching almost no common sense to Hael. Even if he did teach something, it was distorted. Hah, even a wild Beyonder at the demigod level can't know nothing. Even the half-mad sea snake Kavitua knew how to respond to rituals, how to demand sacrifices, and even bestow some divine spells... Klein initially built an image of Pallez Zoroaster in his mind.
However, he didn't make a judgment based on this; after all, even fishing requires some bait, and one single thing can't prove too much.
Seeing Klein silent, Leonard ended the small talk and got down to business:
"Where did you find new traces of that 'blasphemer' Amon?"
Klein got to the point:
"I was tracking a demigod of the 'Marauder' pathway who was nearly losing control, and ended up encountering Amon on the outskirts of Backlund. I had to rely on Mr. Fool's power to escape directly."
His first stage goal was to lure the enemy out of the Elk Manor, to prevent the incomplete mythical creature form displayed before death from affecting ordinary people. The result was not bad; using himself as bait, he achieved the goal. However, that volley of air cannons didn't finish the battle, allowing the 'Marauder' pathway demigod to escape to the shrubbery forest and parasitize a large tree.
