At that moment, the first thought that came to Klein's mind was: “Zaratul really has an ulterior motive!” Then he felt very fortunate that he had obtained the correct “open door” symbol from the Antigonus family notebook beforehand, so he had confidence and wasn’t panicked.

Zaratul sent the quill and ink bottle back into history, raised his head, glanced at “Gehrman Sparrow” and the “Witch of Despair” Pannatia, and said with a sigh: “All the conditions are ready. You can go open the ‘Escape Door’.”

Saying this, his gaze fixed on “Gehrman Sparrow’s” face, and he chuckled: “Don’t forget to take my urn of ashes.”

As soon as he finished speaking, his entire body suddenly split into countless tiny specks of light, spreading outwards and merging into the void, as if he had long since decayed and turned to ash. And where he sat, a tin-white urn was left, its surface covered with simple patterns, nothing special.

Klein made “Gehrman Sparrow” step forward, bend down, and pick up the tin urn. It felt heavy, not like a fake. Using the hand holding the parchment, he opened the lid and saw that inside it was filled with gray-white dust and particles, without any glimmer.

Was it really just ordinary ashes? Who cremated Zaratul? Did he cremate himself? After “Gehrman Sparrow” closed the lid, he casually took a lump of flesh from his pocket with the hand holding the parchment, stuffed it into his mouth, and swallowed it.

The “Witch of Despair” Pannatia noticed his action, squinted her eyes, and glanced over, as if asking “What do you think you’re doing?”

Klein quickly shoved the flesh into the marionette’s mouth and deliberately cleared his throat: “A little nervous. I wonder if this ‘open door’ symbol will work.”

Pannatia confirmed that he was eating ordinary fish meat, albeit disgusting to look at, but in her half-crazed state she had no patience to distinguish further, so she looked away and, gazing at the urn of ashes, laughed before speaking: “If it doesn’t work, we can share it. I’ll use one spoonful a day, it will last a long time.”

This witch’s mental state is really not normal… Klein sighed inwardly and walked past the “Eraser Angel” statue suspected to be the “Mother of the Sky”, to the wall behind it.

Then, he turned and pointed at the recess, saying to the “Witch of Despair” Pannatia: “Insert that obsidian slab into it.”

Pannatia replied with a bright smile but cold eyes: “First show me that ‘open door’ symbol.”

There’s no need to be so wary of me. If I really wanted to harm you, I would abandon the marionette right now, and you wouldn’t have time to escape this church—you’d definitely get hung up. Then I could slowly walk in, pick up the obsidian slab, and “open the door” and leave… But the symbol given by Zaratul really might be problematic, so I need someone to share the risk… With that thought, Klein made “Gehrman Sparrow” raise his hand, patted his stomach, and opened his mouth.

A vague mass of flesh quickly surged out, piling forward endlessly, transforming into the beautiful, woman-like Mr. A.

Seeing this, “Gehrman Sparrow” shook out the parchment and unfolded it. The special symbol, together with the potion formula for “Faceless”, appeared before the eyes of the “Witch of Despair” Pannatia and Mr. A.

Pannatia’s eyes shifted slightly, and then she suddenly smiled charmingly: “You open the door, you go first.”

She was sure that “Gehrman Sparrow” was still helping her control the “spirit threads”, so she had plenty of time to wait.

As she spoke, she threw him the ugly wooden doll stained with blood and tangled with hair.

She’s also afraid of accidents… Klein thought as he made “Gehrman Sparrow” catch the doll, while watching the “Witch of Despair” step forward and insert the obsidian slab into the recess.

They fit perfectly, without any extra space. The wall quickly emitted light and gradually became transparent, revealing the stone slabs outside, the walls with holes, and the clouds floating in the air.

As the “Witch of Despair” Pannatia stepped aside, “Gehrman Sparrow” transferred the doll, parchment, and urn of ashes to his left hand, extended his right hand, pressed his fingers together like a pen, and began to draw on the transparent wall a vertical eye composed of many secret symbols.

During this process, Klein hesitated, unsure whether to draw Zaratul’s symbol or the Antigonus family’s. Although he had just thought that Zaratul had ulterior motives, when he calmed down, he felt that to think so would be to underestimate this great figure. If Zaratul simply wanted to harm him and everyone else here, he wouldn’t have mentioned opening the door; he could have just waited patiently and achieved his goal.

Moreover, since Klein’s aura of the Gray Fog was completely blocked in this Fog Town, he really couldn’t think of a reason Zaratul would be targeting him.
