Chapter 826: Appointment

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 970 words

Upon hearing Mr. Hanged Man's question, "The Sun" Derrick replied somewhat shamefacedly:

"No. I've been constantly assigned to patrol duties lately, I haven't had a chance to investigate."

Alger wasn't surprised by this, he was just puzzled by another matter:

"Why don't you ask a friend you're on good terms with for help?

"You can avoid telling them the real goal. Break the whole thing down into very small, inconspicuous tasks, and let them gather intelligence on different aspects. That way, you won't expose anything, nor will you drag them into danger."

"The Sun" Derrick was silent for a few seconds before saying:

"I have no friends."

Before his parents' death, he actually had a fair number of friends in general education classes and in the combat training ground. After all, the population of the City of Silver wasn't that large, and people of similar age frequently crossed paths and even became teammates. However, after *that incident*, Derrick was severely withdrawn for a long time, and then he shouldered the secret of the Tarot Club. Unconsciously, his friends drifted away from him, becoming distant and estranged, and they no longer interacted. The last time someone came to visit him was Dak Riggins, who had been corrupted by the True Creator.

"The Hanged Man" Alger choked on "The Sun's" reply. He took a moment to catch his breath before reorganizing his words:

"This isn't good.

"You can't save the City of Silver by yourself. You must unite a group of people, have friends who can aid you in critical moments."

"But... this would make them fall under suspicion..." "The Sun" said hesitantly.

Alger immediately replied seriously:

"Suspicion is better than being killed.

"The City of Silver is at a dangerous crossroads. You must think carefully about what needs to be done.

"Sacrifices are inevitable in such matters, and there could even be massive sacrifices. Do you want their sacrifices to be pointless, or meaningful?"

He didn't try to persuade him further, leaving "The Sun" Derrick to painfully struggle with the words he had just heard.

"Mr. Hanged Man always finds such convincing arguments..." Klein sighed, making 'The World', Gehrman Sparrow, turn his head to look at 'Justice' Audrey:

"Can you currently treat severe mental illnesses?"

His understanding of the "psychiatrist" abilities was limited to "Madness" and "Dragon's Wrath." He wasn't clear on other aspects, only occasionally hearing Miss Justice mention "Soothing" and "Psychological Suggestion." Thus, he couldn't determine how strong her ability to treat mental illness was.

"Justice" Audrey's spirits lifted, and she replied eagerly:

"Yes, no problem.

"Mr. World, do you have a friend who needs treatment?"

*I'm lacking cases!* she thought with slight excitement.

At this moment, "The Moon" Emlyn raised his right hand and covered his mouth and nose, as if he already knew the answer.

Klein sighed silently, having "The World" laugh hoarsely:

"No, *I* am the one who needs treatment."

The entire majestic palace suddenly became extremely silent.

"The Hanged Man" Alger, "The Hermit" Cattleya, and "The Magician" Fors all knew that Mr. World was a crazy adventurer, but they never imagined he had already developed a serious mental illness and was about to go completely mad!

Is this the price of power? Fors shivered, becoming even more frightened of Gehrman Sparrow.

You can still communicate with a crazy adventurer, you can reason with him. But there's no reasoning with a madman!

Had the "Heart Spirit Candle" not completely cured his mental illness? Had it gotten this bad? "The Moon" Emlyn, who had expected something like this, felt that "The World" could go mad at any moment.

"The Sun" Derrick didn't think too much about it, he just genuinely worried about Mr. World. He was about to say that the City of Silver had "Psychiatrists" who could provide treatment, but quickly realized that this would expose too many problems, so he forcibly closed his mouth and turned his hopeful gaze to Miss Justice.

"Justice" Audrey was simultaneously surprised, puzzled, and confused. Choosing her words carefully, she said:

"Mr. World, based on my observations, you should not be suffering from a serious mental illness.

"If you're just a bit anxious and under a lot of stress, at the current stage, you can recover through self-regulation and proper relaxation. Direct treatment isn't necessary."

"The World" Gehrman Sparrow gave another low chuckle:

"You didn't notice because the previous mental illness has already been cured.

"I'm just making an appointment for now. If similar symptoms appear in the future, I hope to receive timely treatment."

"I see..." "Justice" Audrey nodded in understanding.

She suddenly felt a bit sorry for Mr. World. She felt that, on the surface, he was a cold reaper who could kill several Sequence 5 Beyonders in a week, a Blessed of the profound and sinister Mr. Fool, a Beyonder so powerful as to inspire fear. Yet, his heart was closer to that of an ordinary person, bearing an immense amount of pressure, eroded by various negative emotions, walking step by step towards a painful abyss.

After thinking for a few seconds, Audrey said sincerely:

"If it's within the range where I can move freely, then there's no problem."

After her coming-of-age ceremony, she had gained a certain degree of autonomy. She could let her parents go on holiday to the family castle while she stayed in Stoen, the capital of East Chester County. However, this freedom was still restricted. She couldn't just go anywhere she pleased. Even in Stoen, there were many areas she couldn't enter, unless she joined some charitable organization under the Church of the Goddess of the Night in the future.

"Alright." Klein, who was herding the "Traveler", breathed a sigh of relief and had "The World" give the answer. "You decide the location then, and prepare a way to conceal your identity."
