As a vampire who preferred staying home, Emlyn could count the number of battles he'd participated in over the years on one hand, and he had never fought against multiple opponents.
Whether it was dealing with that follower of the "Primordial Moon" last time or facing off against Bishop
Remembering how his family of three couldn't even defeat that half-giant bishop, Emlyn's face gradually turned green, as if he were reliving the torment he had suffered at the Harvest Church.
With many tenants coming and going, and the artificial vampire
What to do next... Leaning back against the clutter that blocked the crimson moonlight, Emlyn's thoughts raced as he tried to find a solution from his meager experience.
Gradually, some words that "The Hanged Man" had taught "The Sun" surfaced in his mind:
"Patience is an important prerequisite for dealing with many situations..."
"Only by restraining your impulses and impatience can you minimize risk..."
"Sometimes, endurance is important..."
Endurance... Emlyn nodded almost imperceptibly, understanding what he needed to do.
He planned to conceal himself here and wait for
This wasn't the artificial vampire's residence; he would inevitably leave. Then Emlyn could once again settle things one-on-one.
Patience, endurance, waiting... Emlyn repeated similar words in his mind, using them to counteract the harm the surrounding environment was inflicting on him.
The air on the first floor of the apartment was filled with the stench of urine, the smell of damp rot, the odor of unflushed feces, the pungent smell of burning low-quality coal, the sour stench of sweat that hadn't been washed away for days, the strong smells of some tenants, and various sour, unpleasant, and disgusting odors. They mixed together like poison, eroding Emlyn's senses.
For the first time in his life, Emlyn wanted to cut off his nose. He felt as if he were being tortured in an abyss, a hell.
Patience... endurance... waiting... He mechanically repeated the "rules," feeling each second stretch endlessly long.
Finally, he saw the door to Galis Kevin's room open. A dark-skinned, thin figure stepped out. His profile showed prominent cheekbones, a high nose bridge, and a slightly hooked tip. It was Argos, the follower of the "Primordial Moon."
At that moment, several spots on his face were swollen and festering, looking rather disgusting.
Sure enough, just as that little "old man" Ian had said, this guy's clothes were complete and clean, nothing like the residents of the East Borough... Emlyn's spirits lifted. Muttering to himself, he watched Argos leave the building.
After patiently waiting for nearly five minutes, he stood up and decided to act.
Because his target, Galis Kevin, was an artificial vampire, Emlyn knew quite well what he was good at and what his characteristics were, so he could prepare accordingly.
Galis Kevin's sense of smell is probably not much worse than mine when I just came of age. Ha, actually I'm not so sure about that—how can he live in this environment? Maybe he's already lost his nose and his mind... Besides, his spirituality isn't weak; he has an instinctive sense of danger... His sight and hearing are still decent... While Emlyn was despising him, he consumed a potion and sprayed a liquid, covering his body's scent again, deeply covering it.
Then, just like last time, through the potion taken internally and externally, he made his body and coat disappear, vanishing from the spot as if erased by a rubber.
In a dark corner with no one around, a copper-green notebook the size of a palm suddenly emerged from the void, as if it had just passed through some invisible barrier.
It flipped through its pages almost soundlessly, eventually stopping on a page covered in many astrological symbols.
The symbols then disappeared, and the surroundings became slightly brighter.
This was the interference ability of an "Astrologer"!
Then, the copper-green "Lehman's Travel Notes" retracted, disappearing inch by inch, concealed again by the invisible barrier.
Having prepared himself, Emlyn reconsidered his action plan. He lightened his steps and silently arrived outside Galis Kevin's room, but didn't approach the front door.
That copper-green notebook materialized again out of thin air and flipped to the "Open Door" page.
An illusory sound echoed in Emlyn's mind, "pushing" him to stretch out a hand and press it against the wall.
At the same time, Emlyn cautiously put "Lehman's Travel Notes" back inside his clothes, hiding it under his invisible coat.
When Emlyn's palm finally pressed against the wall, a blurry, dark-blue door without substance suddenly appeared before him. It was set into the wall yet revealed traces of brickwork beneath.
Listening for sounds from inside the room and sniffing the air, Emlyn stepped forward and passed through that dark-blue door as if through a water curtain.
Before his eyes, the scene instantly changed. There were walls covered in stains, a wooden bed placed along three sides, an old cabinet, and various clutter.
This was the inside of Galis Kevin's room!
And the dark-blue door behind Emlyn had already disappeared, as if it had never existed.
Warily looking around, Emlyn caught sight of his target, Galis Kevin.
This follower of the "Primordial Moon" was a good-looking mixed-blood. His hair was a bit long, falling to his shoulders, and his eyes were brown with a hint of crimson, as if he hadn't fully attained the eye color of the vampire clan.
