Holding the document signed by Dunn, Klein arrived at the basement and turned into the armory.
“Dunn is right. It’s time you learned about different Beyonders and various secret organizations.” Old Neil, wearing a classic black robe, read the note without surprise. Instead, he nodded in agreement.
He then added with a smile, “After all, you’re going with me to the underground market tomorrow night.”
“Tomorrow night?” Klein didn’t hide his surprise and asked to confirm.
Old Neil nodded and sighed:
“I’m the kind of person who can’t sleep peacefully with a debt. I always hope to pay it off as soon as possible.”
“Why weren’t you like this before? You always waited until the last moment to resolve things with ritual magic… So I’m not the only one with a procrastination problem… Wait, was it necessary to be so euphemistic about ‘being afraid you’ll spend the money meant to repay the debt’?” Klein didn’t expose Old Neil and instead urged him on:
“Mr. Neil, please go through the Chanis Gate and get the corresponding information for me.”
The armory mostly held archaeological materials and historical documents. There were some related to Beyonders and secret organizations, but not many, and they were all basic common knowledge.
Old Neil slowly took a sip of his hand-brewed coffee, smacked his lips, and only then did he pick up the signed and stamped document and leave the armory. Klein took his place, guarding the place.
After about ten minutes, Old Neil in his classic black robe returned with a large stack of materials.
“You can only read it here. You cannot take it out,” he instructed as he placed the materials on the table.
“Okay.” Klein nodded heavily and stretched out his hands, quickly flipping through the papers to get an overall look first.
Very detailed… As expected of the internal Nighthawks materials… As expected of the Church with three to four thousand years, or even longer, of history… Klein’s eyes swept across the page, and he exclaimed inwardly.
The materials not only included introductions to various secret organizations, but also listed many Sequence pathways. Some were very complete, some only had the names of the potions for the corresponding Sequences, some only described the Beyonder performance of that Sequence, and some were completely missing, replaced by blank spaces.
Suppressing his excitement, Klein searched for the Sequence pathway represented by the “Seer”.
Amidst the rustling of paper, he quickly saw a familiar word.
However, his joyful expression quickly froze on his face, because Sequence 8 and Sequence 7 after the “Seer” did not have the names of the corresponding potions!
At least there are the Beyonder performances for these two Sequences… Klein silently exhaled, eased his mood, and seriously read those descriptions:
“Sequence 8: Potion name unknown. Corresponding Beyonders are skilled in technical combat, and are very cunning.”
Skilled in technical combat? This is the advancement of a “Seer”? It feels weird… I’m not a Hunter… Could it be that I’m going to become a mage who fights hand-to-hand? What does ‘cunning’ mean? Increased intelligence, good at deceiving people? Klein was stunned as he read, even suspecting that the Nighthawks’ materials were wrong.
Behind it were corresponding case studies. He read them several times repeatedly, but in the end, still couldn’t find a reasonable explanation.
Moving his gaze down, the description of Sequence 7 entered his pupils:
“Potion name unknown. Corresponding Beyonders have mastered many quickly cast spells, combining their skills and supernatural powers.”
This is right! This is what an advancement of the “Seer” should look like! Klein breathed a sigh of relief and silently exclaimed.
After reading the cases for Sequence 7, he moved his gaze to the summary description of this pathway:
“This Sequence pathway was first formed by the Zaratul family of the Solomon Empire. During the conflicts of the Fourth Epoch, this family was not completely destroyed, and in the history of the Fifth Epoch their names can still occasionally be heard… It is suspected to have a certain connection with the ancient organization, the ‘Mystery Prying Society’.”
Zaratul? Seeing this name, Klein’s pupils suddenly contracted.
This name had appeared in the remnants of Emperor Roselle’s diary he obtained yesterday afternoon!
Roselle’s “Acting Method” originated from the reminder of a mysterious figure named Zaratul!
“Because of that mysterious Zaratul, Emperor Roselle regretted not choosing the ‘Seer’? So, indirectly affecting me, making me a ‘Seer’, letting the ‘Acting Method’ return to the embrace of the ‘Seer’… It really has a bit of a fateful feeling…” Klein frowned, feeling as if things had taken on a somewhat different quality.
