Lord of the Mysteries · Chapter 515

The Matter Concluded?

After Klein retrieved his hat, the extraordinary properties of Bishop Miller had completely condensed. It was only the size of a thumb, pale blue and translucent, but occasionally greenish traces would whip through it as dark, almost black "tides" surged inside.

Opening the revolver's cylinder, Klein flicked it with force, and the empty casings—some golden, some silvery white, some brass—fell to the ground with a crisp clatter.

Then, unhurriedly, he took out a speedloader he had prepared beforehand and loaded more extraordinary bullets into the gun.

After all this, he put away the revolver, bent down to pick up Miller's extraordinary characteristic, and nonchalantly stuffed it into his pocket.

Taking a few steps to the side, Klein retrieved his walking stick. As he turned around and walked toward Creweiss and the others, he casually pulled out a paper man and flicked his wrist like cracking a whip.

Slap!

The paper man quickly ignited, flew out of his hand, fluttered into the air, and fell as specks of red, extinguishing into ash.

"Cool..." Danton forgot the pain from his fall and stared unblinkingly. "Uncle Sparrow is like setting off fireworks..." Donna nodded in agreement with her brother's words.

After using the "Paper Man Substitute Method" to interfere with the scene's information and residual traces, Klein looked in the direction they were returning from and said calmly and succinctly:

"Leave this place."

Having said that, he directly turned around and began walking at a steady pace, receiving the "Sun Brooch" from Ireland and the Azik Copper Whistle from Danitz.

Urdi and the others didn't waste words or cry out in pain. They followed quietly like quails.

In the battle just now, they had fully witnessed the peculiar nature of Beyonders. Danitz's flame ability especially stood out—it was the most noticeable and left a deep impression on them, making them truly understand that these matters were not something ordinary humans could involve themselves in. The only thing they could do was follow arrangements and strive to keep up.

Only thus could they ensure their survival!

Compared to Danitz's side, Klein's battle with Bishop Miller had been focused on nearly invisible wind blades and the truly invisible spiritual domain. Aside from the holy light that seemed to descend from a deity and Miller's terrifying appearance after losing control, the whole process was unremarkable and calm, not causing the onlookers too much shock.

Passing by that area, Creweiss, Cecil, and the others suddenly paused in their steps, because they saw that the ground was covered with cut marks, densely packed everywhere.

This... They immediately understood one thing: that the battle between Germain Sparrow and the fallen bishop was far more thrilling and dangerous than the other side's performance by unknown multiples.

Fear and a sense of safety surged at the same time, and they all quickened their pace.

Twenty or thirty seconds later, Klein stopped on the street outside the telegraph office and said expressionlessly to Captain Ireland:

"Going to send a telegram?"

After saying that, he couldn't help reminding:

"Don't force your way in."

"Okay." On this eerie night, Ireland was equally cautious.

He quickened his steps, reached the main door of the telegraph office, and knocked three times.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Amid the somewhat muffled echoes, someone inside asked:

"Who is it?"

Klein, already vigilant, frowned abruptly, because the speaker was a man!

Ireland was also a bit surprised:

"I want to send a telegram. Who are you? I remember the previous attendant was a lady."

The man inside replied calmly:

"I am Paver Cot, Melanie's colleague. She is right next to me. She is fine."

As soon as Paver Cot finished speaking, the previous female voice immediately continued:

"Yes, I'm fine. You don't need to worry anymore. Paver Cot is back."

Friend, isn't your custom not to respond if the door isn't opened? How did Paver Cot get in? Klein suppressed his urge to question.

Ireland stepped back, cleared his throat:

"I want to send a telegram to the Storm Church headquarters."

"I'm sorry, we can't open the door." Paver Cot responded without any emotional fluctuation.

Ireland also sensed the eeriness and didn't dare insist. He proactively offered an alternative:

"Can you send it for me and then push the draft through the door crack? The content is: 'Bansy Port anomaly, Bishop Miller and Priest Jess died. Signed, Ireland.'"

"Okay." Melanie's voice faded, apparently returning to the telegraph machine.

After waiting for a while, the sound of clicking came from inside, and before long, a telegram draft was pushed out from under the door.

Ireland bent down to pick it up, suppressing the urge to peek through the gap.

He glanced at the telegram draft and suddenly his nose twitched; he smelled a faint bloody scent on the paper!

He quickly turned his head to look at Germain Sparrow, using his eyes to indicate that there was a problem inside the telegraph office.

However, what met him was a deep, restrained, and unruffled gaze, along with a calm, indifferent remark:

"Back to ship."

With that, Klein directly turned around and walked toward the end of the street, his figure gradually merging into the thin fog.

Danitz, carrying the broken horse lantern, immediately followed without hesitation. Donna and the others likewise.

Ireland pondered for two seconds, then held the telegram draft and caught up with the group.

No more sounds came from the telegraph office, abnormally quiet.

........

Perhaps because the fallen Bishop Miller had been eliminated, on the way back, Klein and the others no longer encountered the headless men in black cloaks. The mold-covered heads only appeared twice and were easily dealt with.

After walking for an unknown time, they finally saw the dock and the "White Agate" with candlelight shining through its portholes.

This allowed Urdi and the others to regain their strength. They switched from fast walking to a jog and ran all the way to the lowered gangplank.
