Chapter 379: The Performance Begins

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 980 words

Klein, wearing a jet-black crown and covered in a suit of dense armor, stood at the doorway. After adjusting for a few seconds, he stepped forward.

His almost substantial body silently passed through the gate and entered Kapin's villa.

The first thing before him was a spacious hall with many chairs and coat racks, and beyond it was a magnificent golden-themed hall.

There was no ceiling; he could directly see the dome three stories high, from which a huge crystal chandelier hung. On each "petal" stood a white candle.

To the left of the hall, through a heavy door, was an elegant dining room. The aroma of roasted meat was strongest there, overpowering the smells of alcohol and other dishes.

Klein did not rush to sneak into the dining room. First, he circled around outside, occasionally tugging at the gray-white gas pipes, as if testing how much power his spirit body had with the "Black Emperor" card and how much it could interfere with physical reality.

—During the "Fortune Teller" and "Joker" periods, Klein's spirit body only had two spell-like abilities besides divination and intuition: direct soul attack and causing a freeze effect upon touch. After advancing to "Magician", he could use several supernatural abilities independent of his physical body in spirit form, such as Paper Figure Substitute and Air Bullet.

In addition, he could now possess others and perform preliminary manipulation.

With the boost from the "Black Emperor" card, the strength of his spirit body increased, it could carry more matter, and the direct soul attack ability evolved into "Wraith's Scream", damaging the souls (spirit bodies) of all living things within range with sound waves inaudible to humans. Similarly, the freeze effect from touch was significantly enhanced.

After confirming this, he found a corner wall, passed through it, and entered the dining room.

Then he suppressed all thoughts, letting his gaze sweep over the long table without any emotion.

He saw Herras in a white wig, Katie in a thin blouse, with an aged face drinking red wine, and the slightly plump Kapin cutting a piece of steak.

His eyes touched and retracted; Klein did not dare to look long, afraid of being discovered by the supernatural beings through intuition.

Using the spiritual radiance (aura color) of the attending maids and butlers as cover, he carefully drifted around the dining room, ascertaining the exact layout: it was as large as his living room, dining room, and study combined; there was a fireplace burning charcoal, which spread warmth through the room via pipes; there were sixteen elegant gas lamps whose light interwove to create a sense of daylight; on the wall beside the fireplace hung paintings—sketches and oils—all by masters.

"That bearded Bellis must be guarding the entrance to the underground area. If a supernatural being is willing to do such a menial job, Kapin's operation is definitely not just simple human trafficking..." Klein thought for a few seconds, then leaned against the wall beside a sunset oil painting, reached into his body, and unscrewed the cap of a brown semi-transparent bottle.

This was the "Biological Toxin Bottle"!

The reason he paid attention to timing and chose dinner time was precisely because now the main characters were most concentrated and orderly, which was most conducive to the use of the "Biological Toxin Bottle"!

And the closed doors and windows in early winter would make the toxin work faster and more effectively!

Moreover, before coming, Klein had not used the "Biological Toxin Bottle" to make a preventive antidote and take it. He was now in spirit form and not afraid of biological toxins!

Using his own spiritual body's inclusion and concealment, he stood there quietly, patiently admiring the elegant wall lamps connected to the gray-white gas pipes, while the colorless and odorless toxin spread rapidly outward.

......

Herras in a white wig cut a piece of fried dragonfish with the central bone intact, dipped it in black pepper sauce, and put it in his mouth.

After chewing and swallowing, he took a glass of pale golden champagne with pearl-like bubbles and took a sip, in a good mood.

His appetite was weak, his concentration scattered.

Katie did not let the servant cut the roast chicken; she bowed her head and, with the precision of dissection, quickly divided the food into many pieces of roughly the same size.

Parker, while tasting red wine, ate braised lamb, occasionally exchanging a few words with Kapin at the head of the table, thus being the most dutiful guest.

Dinner proceeded methodically. Kapin put the last piece of beef steak into his mouth.

He smiled at the three supernatural beings:

"Mr. Herras, Ms. Katie, Mr. Parker, tonight's dessert comes from the head chef of La Borie restaurant. There are three kinds: fruit caramel pudding, cream shortbread, and carrot cake."

The usually cold Herras nodded slightly:

"Our country loves desserts so much."

Just as he finished his comment, he saw Kapin raise his hand to scratch his cheek, then scratch again.

"It's a little itchy," Kapin apologized with a smile.

The words had barely fallen when he couldn't help but scratch again, leaving obvious blood marks that the scratches quickly swelled, the skin became semi-transparent, and a pale yellow liquid could be faintly seen beneath.

"It really is itchy," Kapin smiled again.

He scratched the same spot once more, this time too hard; the semi-transparent skin split, and foul-smelling pus spurted out.

Herras's eyes narrowed, he abruptly stood up, and warily examined the surroundings.

"Hahaha."

"Haha, hahaha."

At that moment, he heard exaggerated laughter and his body tensed instantly.

He saw a male and a female servant clutching their stomachs, laughing loudly, laughing until they bent over, laughed until tears came, laughed until the room fell silent.

As if by chain reaction, the other servants either fainted or vomited continuously, spewing yellow-green liquid, unable to stop.
