Inside the small theater of the Rhys
As a Seer, Klein didn't have trouble recalling familiar things. He adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose, leaned back slightly, and murmured a few words almost inaudibly.
Then, pretending to rest, he closed his eyes for over ten seconds, but in reality, he used meditation to quickly fall asleep and obtain a dream hint.
The dream showed a dim room with a single candle flickering on the coffee table, casting a yellow glow. Those seated around wore black hooded robes and iron masks that only covered the upper half of their faces.
Deliberately rubbing his brow, Klein opened his eyes and continued watching the animal training act.
He had already deciphered the revelation and understood the source of the familiarity: the scene in the dream was the Beyonder gathering convened by Mr. "Eye of Wisdom".
Among them was an Apothecary who also had a chubby face and liked to use sarcasm to remind people. He was a kind-hearted person but always gave the feeling of wanting to be punched.
Could it be that Apothecary? Not really, when did he learn to tame animals? According to the Nighthawks' internal records, the Apothecary's Spirit Vision, unlike the Seer pathway, can't differentiate the colors of emotions in detail. However, they have expertise in aura colors... Klein's thoughts drifted slowly without affecting his appreciation of the performance on stage.
In his Spirit Vision, the emotional colors of the black bear, tiger, and curly-haired baboon were indeed unstable, and with enough stimulation, they could burst out at any moment. This indirectly confirmed that the chubby man who had spoken earlier wasn't just causing trouble; he seemed to be able to read the thoughts of those three animals and understand their impulses.
With his warning, although the tamer became more angry and his face darkened, he still instinctively softened his movements and became more careful, allowing the performance to end smoothly.
After that, there was a simple but comedic play, and when it ended, a magician came on stage.
The magician wore a tailcoat, a matching bow tie, and a tall top hat. As soon as he appeared, he performed a fire-spitting trick, and the audience cheered and applauded.
A very simple trick... Klein, whose eyesight was already sharp and who had watched many magic instructional shows, could see the key at a glance.
Next, the magician performed classic acts like escaping a locked box, producing doves from his hat, pulling out flowers, and card tricks. Klein thought he could easily see through every move, but he was surprised to find that at times he couldn't figure it out at all because his attention was drawn elsewhere, and he missed key details.
He has no extraordinary ability, yet his technique still eludes my eyes... The key is controlling attention... The second rule of magic: fully divert the target's attention to achieve the desired effect? Klein made a guess in his mind, uncertain if it was correct.
This required feedback through "acting".
At that moment, the magician's performance ended, and the audience generously gave warm applause and cheers, reaching the peak of the afternoon atmosphere.
"Heh, the third rule of magic: the performance needs the audience's applause?" Klein whispered to himself, half teasingly and half speculating.
A little past three in the afternoon, he tugged at the collar of his black double-breasted long formal coat, stood up, and left the small theater. He did not attempt to contact the chubby man who might be the Apothecary, only quietly memorized his face—rashly "making acquaintance" might provoke an overreaction.
Taking a horse-drawn trolley bus, Klein returned to Minsk Street.
The bus was double-decked, with some passengers on each level. As usual, Klein chose a window seat on the lower level.
The bus moved in fits and starts. Suddenly, while half-closing his eyes and recalling the earlier inspirations, he felt a palpitation and became alert and rational, as if someone had forcibly invaded his dream or directly communed with him.
At that moment, he clearly knew that he was no longer in the real world!
With his wealth of experience, he pretended nothing was wrong and looked around. He saw the gentleman in tailcoat and top hat on the left still reading a newspaper, a woman in a light blue dress with two children was wearily scolding a naughty kid, and next to her, someone was eating bread and drinking tea… Everything seemed unchanged.
But in Klein's quietly activated Spirit Vision, none of these passengers emitted corresponding aura colors or emotional colors!
They had no Ether Body!
They were talking, eating bread, reading newspapers, but without any trace of life!
Was this an illusory illusion, or had they suddenly died and were only moving by inertia? Klein tried to calm himself and looked out the window. The carriages and pedestrians on the street came and went, still an afternoon scene.
But they also had no aura colors… As the bus moved slowly forward, Klein became increasingly solemn, not understanding what was happening.
He looked down at himself and saw a distinct spiritual radiance, completely different from everyone around him.
At that moment, he suddenly heard a roar that didn't sound human!
