Chapter 324: The Activating Incantation

November 21, 2018 · 5 min read · 925 words

From the outside, the bookmark didn't have anything particularly special about it. Roselle's portrait was everywhere in the commemorative exhibition, and his image as an Emperor who was still in a middle-aged state was the same.

Klein flipped it over and examined it several times, finding a small pierced mark, confirming it was the bookmark Miss Justice had verified.

He attempted to extend his spirituality, slowly pouring it inward. The result was just like an ordinary object—the spirituality only flowed over it, not penetrating it, nor causing any strange change.

That's right, Roselle's idea was to find a 'person with fate', he wouldn't specifically limit it to Beyonders... Klein thought for a moment, then switched to Fey and spoke in a low voice: "Pirate King!"

The bookmark still didn't react.

He tried again in Ancient Fey, Intis, Loen, but still only got the same result.

As for mystical field languages like , Elf, and Dragon, they were too specific in their target. Klein could only try without much hope.

Unsurprisingly, he failed.

Then, Klein switched back to Fey and translated: "one piece!"

The bookmark lay quietly in his palm, showing no sign of abnormality.

Klein followed the previous procedure and tried again in a different language, only to encounter repeated failures.

"It seems my initial guess was wrong. The young Roselle would use the Pirate King joke, but the older him might not. People always grow old and change." Klein reflected on his mistake, tapping the edge of the mottled long table, trying to deduce the activation method from the information revealed in the diary.

After a while, he manifested paper and a pen, organized his thoughts, and wrote them down to avoid confusion and contradiction: "In this matter, Roselle was both madly desperate and clearly exhibited a twisted sense of humor. The description 'obtained by a person with fate' that doesn't conform to the current language habits of the world is proof of that."

"Therefore, it's certain that he truly wanted some people to discover the special nature of the '' by chance."

"If that's the case, the method of opening shouldn't be too hard to imagine. It should have a possibility of appearing in daily life."

"What Roselle needed was an accidental coincidence. For example, when holding a worthless bookmark and casually reading a specific word, then, congratulations, you got an adventure! Hm, this very much fits that twisted sense of humor."

"According to this logic, different 'Blasphemy Cards' should have different opening incantations. Using a single word to activate all 'Blasphemy Cards' is clearly not Roselle's style."

"What is the opening incantation for this card? Hmm, first of all, we can rule out the common ones that are said all the time."

"Also, when creating the 'Blasphemy Cards', Roselle's state was desperate, crazy, unwilling, nostalgic, struggling, and angry. I can try to put myself in this state of mind, pretend I am Roselle at that time, and imagine what opening method he would set up."

Klein stopped his fountain pen, acting as Roselle, trying to find inspiration.

He first tried some words of cursing and hope in various languages and Ancient Fey, shamefully failing.

Then, he pondered what a powerful person on the verge of a desperate situation would be most unwilling and nostalgic about: "His wife Matilda? Such a promiscuous guy probably doesn't have that deep a feeling for his first wife."

"His children? His eldest daughter Bernadette, eldest son Charles, second son Bonova..."

"According to the diary, what he found most difficult to let go of should be his daughter, Bernadette, who might become a big shot in the mystical world."

Klein paused, took a breath, and prepared to make a new attempt.

"Bernadette." He recited in Intis.

The bookmark had no reaction.

Klein then switched to Loen, Highland, and Fey, but still couldn't get the desired result.

He sighed and, with a low voice, produced the corresponding Ancient Fey syllable: "Bernadette."

The name echoed over the empty and silent gray fog without any special characteristics. Klein was about to look for new inspiration when he suddenly felt the bookmark in his hand become heavy!

It then formed an invisible vortex, frantically absorbing Klein's mental energy.

For an ordinary person, this was a very heavy burden, but for a Sequence 7 'Magician', it was hardly a serious drain. Klein easily passed this hurdle, unable to hide his joy as he looked at the object in his palm.

On the bookmark, a clear light slowly rose, and the image of the Emperor Roselle on the outside was completely renewed.

He sat on an ancient stone throne, wearing a black crown inlaid with various gems on his head, clad in black armor, draped in a cape of the same color, holding a scepter in his hand, his eyes looking forward coldly.

At the top left corner of the bookmark, brilliant starlight condensed into a line of text: "Sequence 0: The Black Emperor!"

Sequence 0! So it really hides the secrets of the gods! Black Emperor is actually Sequence 0... Klein smiled, half-sighing and half-marveling.

Then, the bookmark became three-dimensional, like a miniature book.

The book fluttered open without wind, revealing an image of Roselle wearing a white hood, alongside a corresponding description in Ancient Fey: "Sequence 9, Lawyer."

"Adept at discovering and exploiting loopholes in rules and the weaknesses of opponents, possessing excellent eloquence and logic..."

"Potion formula..."

Klein glanced at the formula ingredients, didn't look closely, and reached out to touch it. The book turned the page.

"Sequence 8: Barbarian."
