Chapter 250: Assassination

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 742 words

Eileen clamped her mouth shut, looking at the thin-faced ambassador with his gentle smile, a mix of anger and fear in her eyes.

Beckland extended his right hand, which was covered in an orange-red flame that leaped quietly.

He took two steps forward, as if about to press that palm against Eileen's skin.

This reminded Eileen of descriptions in many novels, where cruel interrogators use red-hot irons to brand their targets, causing intense pain.

"No, I can't be so rough with a beautiful lady." Beckland suddenly stopped his right hand from advancing and chuckled.

He shook his hand violently, turning the orange-red flame into a crimson long whip.

This whip burned the air around it, with barbs growing along its length.

Crack!

Beckland swung the flame whip, striking Eileen's body, charring and tearing her clothes, leaving a deep black brand on her skin, twisting her face in a scream of agony.

"Who sent you?" Beckland asked again in a gentle tone.

Eileen's lips trembled a few times before finally parting:

"It's..."

Just as Beckland was subconsciously listening for the answer, a flash of blood-red suddenly appeared in his eyes.

Not good! Beckland jerked backward, rolling on the ground.

And where he had been standing, flames burst forth, forming a blazing wall.

Some of them pierced through the wall of flame, creating a sparse path of blood spots on the floor.

At the end of this path stood Beckland, the Intis ambassador, who had just gotten back up.

He saw Eileen's abdomen torn open, saw two arms wrapped in viscous liquid reaching out from inside.

The arms suddenly pushed apart, and a figure crawled out of the beautiful lady Eileen's belly. "It" was covered in blood-red liquid, about the size of an ordinary adult man.

It was hard to imagine that such a thing was hidden inside a normal woman like Eileen, with no bulge in her belly!

How could it fit!

Bang!

The part of Eileen's body below her head exploded completely, turning into pure flesh and blood, surging toward the humanoid thing, mixing with the constantly dripping liquid to form a strange red robe.

The figure revealed its true appearance, a face as beautiful and eerie as a woman's. And "its" blood-red robe, illuminated by the fire, looked like a blooming red flower.

"Rose Bishop!" As an experienced intelligence operative, Beckland immediately associated this with the corresponding sequence name.

The "Secret Supplicant" pathway's Sequence 6, "Rose Bishop".

Every "Rose Bishop" was an expert in blood and flesh magic!

Beyonders of this sequence could hide inside other people's bodies to evade all kinds of detection.

But when they emerged, the host would lose their life.

"For the Lord!" Eileen's remaining head whispered, and her eyes closed forever.

The "Rose Bishop" extended his right hand and touched his chest four times, in the order of down, up, right, left.

His eyes, reflecting blood and fire, then fixed on Beckland. He suddenly stepped forward with his right foot, passing through the fire wall without any burn damage, though dark red liquid kept dripping from him.

Beckland stepped back again and suddenly raised his voice:

"Someone!"

"Help!"

Although his most capable assistant, Rosago, and several intelligence officers had been sent out, the embassy still had Beyonders—the military attachés permitted by the Loen Kingdom, the protective force here!

One Sequence 5, one Sequence 6, three Sequences 7, and nearly ten Sequences 8 and 9 combined.

Beckland's voice echoed in the room but couldn't get out. The music outside remained unchanged, the party continued.

It seemed this place had become an isolated world!

"This..." Beckland sensibly stopped shouting, squinting as he surveyed his surroundings.

The "Rose Bishop" didn't rush to attack, chuckling softly:

"This was your own wish, the rules you set yourself."

"You told the guards earlier: don't disturb, don't come near, don't let anyone over."

"Hmm... I amplified your wishes and rules, twisting them a little. If you want to break this barrier, you must defeat yourself."

Beckland's expression flickered slightly. From this characteristic that seemed to follow rules but actually twisted them, constantly drawing power from order, he thought of another sequence name.

"Corrupted Baron!" Beckland growled.

This was Sequence 6 of the "Lawyer" pathway, also known as the "Black Emperor" pathway.

As he spoke, Beckland's face suddenly turned extremely dark, and he added:

"Shepherd! You're a Shepherd!"

"Who are you from the Aurora Order? Mr. A?"

"Why are you trying to assassinate me?"
