Chapter 235: Full Moon Night

It was also a dream divination, but this time Klein saw more scenes.

The first scene was still that small, dark, dirty room and Ian Wright sleeping on the top bunk.

The second scene was the sewer they had both been to. Ian was crouching in front of Zeriel's mutilated corpse, reaching out to rub the two rows of stark white teeth, and took one of them out.

The third scene was a bustling and noisy street. The pedestrians were all simply dressed, even shabby or ragged.

There was a garden and lawn in the middle of the street, surrounding a short chimney spurting mist. Ian, wearing an old coat and a bowler hat, looked around warily and entered a telegraph office not far from the street center. Diagonally across was a steam metro entrance that looked like a department store.

The scene rapidly faded until it was transparent. Klein opened his eyes, tapped the edge of the long bronze table slowly with his index finger, and made an initial judgment:

"From that tooth and the telegraph, Zeriel and Ian are not a detective duo who accidentally got involved in a dangerous incident. There is an organization behind them!"

"I should be able to determine where the third scene corresponds to..."

Klein wasn't in a hurry to analyze in depth, because he didn't want to stay on the gray fog for too long.

Leaving the high-back chair belonging to "The Fool," he went to the corner on the side and fished out Meursault's Beyonder characteristic from the paper bag he had sent in here before.

Holding the jelly-like dark red item, Klein sat down again and wrote a new divination sentence:

"The corresponding potion name."

As he recited silently, he held the clump of Beyonder characteristic in one hand and the paper with the divination sentence in the other, entering a slumber through meditation.

In the gray, psychedelic dream, the ambassador, who was dressed flamboyantly to the point of being gaudy, his face thin with stubble, appeared before Klein's eyes again.

He was holding a bottle of dark red liquid and said to Meursault:

"Drink it. Drink this bottle of 'Hunter' potion, and you will be able to dominate the Zmanigang Party. Of course, money is also indispensable. Emperor Roselle once said, 'In one hand a club, in the other a carrot.'"

"Hunter? Backlund is a big city..." Meursault frowned slightly, questioning in confusion.

In his illiterate mind, hunters belonged to the wilderness, to animals.

The middle-aged ambassador chuckled and said,

"The biggest city is also the biggest dark jungle."

"Here, everyone has two identities. One is the prey, the other is the hunter."

"Even the weakest hunter is still a hunter, and he might hurt even a powerful prey."

"Go on. Join this grand hunt."

...

The scene shattered into countless lights and shadows. Klein looked down at the dark red Beyonder characteristic in his hand and muttered silently,

"So it's the 'Hunter' potion. No wonder Meursault was so tough and used poisoned blow darts."

"No wonder he could track me here..."

"However, he didn't seem to truly understand the essence of a hunter. He didn't set up traps, didn't use weapons, didn't utilize his corresponding strengths... On the one hand, this is because he didn't know I was also a Beyonder, and a Sequence 8 Beyonder at that, leading him to underestimate me. On the other hand, it shows he hasn't consumed the potion for long..."

"The 'Hunter' pathway is controlled by the ancient Intis royal family, the Sauron family, and the rulers of the Feynapotter Empire, the Einhorn family, as well as the secret organization 'Iron Blood Cross Order' which only appeared in the last two or three hundred years. Adding in the style of his clothes, the ambassador's identity is almost certain... A senior diplomat of the Intis Republic, the ambassador to the Loen Kingdom..."

"I wonder what that important item he wanted to get is..."

Amidst his tumbling thoughts, Klein wrapped himself with spirituality and plummeted downwards.

As soon as he returned to his room, he immediately surveyed his surroundings warily and found no unusual changes.

Phew. Klein let out a silent breath, gaining a bit more confidence in convening the Tarot Club members on time tomorrow afternoon.

He fished out the map of Backlund he had bought on the steam train, searching for telegraph offices along the metro line, a telegraph office not far from the street center.

There were currently only a few metro lines in Backlund. Klein quickly identified three targets: one in the West Borough, one in the St. George District, and one at the intersection of the East Borough and the Backlund Bridge area.

He recalled the clothing and class positioning of most pedestrians in the dream and arrived at the final answer:

The third one!

The intersection of the East Borough and the Backlund Bridge area!

Sometimes, interpreting revelations requires rich practical knowledge and corresponding reasoning skills... Klein mocked himself, walked to the desk, and added a sentence to the previously written statement, making the content on the paper more complete:

"I don't know Ian Wright's whereabouts. I haven't seen him since I found Zeriel's corpse. However, I learned through my own channels that Ian Wright once appeared at the telegraph office on White Rum Street."

After writing it, Klein didn't fold up the paper or burn it with his spirituality. Instead, he let it lie open on the desk, freely displaying its contents.

Taking a deep look at it, Klein returned to the bedside, took off his clothes, and went to sleep.

Outside the tightly drawn curtains, the crimson moon emerged from the layered clouds, its light bright and clear, full and flawless.
