Chapter 1352: Seize the Opportunity

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 908 words

When relaying information to the "Punishers," Alger had already quickly formulated a plan for what to do next in his mind:

He would hurry to pray to the "Lord of Storms," hoping to receive the Lord's blessing or help, and then immediately head underground, using his own Beyonder powers to forcibly suppress the three Grade 1 sealed artefacts including the "Azure Gate."

During this process, if the "Lord of Storms" answered the prayer or the anomaly of the seal failure ended in time, then naturally there would be no need to consider other responses. But if neither happened, and he began to feel pressed, he would seek help from "Mr. Fool."

For Alger, once he had to do this, no matter what method he used or how he later covered it up, it would be difficult to escape suspicion. After all, suppressing three Grade 1 sealed artefacts by oneself was truly inconceivable.

At that point, his only choice would be, once the anomaly ended and the seal took effect again, to immediately abandon his post and flee, letting all those years of hard work and effort go to waste, and throwing away the hard-won position of Cardinal.

However, compared to his own life, these were all acceptable costs and sacrifices.

As for consequences like the probability of obtaining the "Book of Calamity" plummeting, Alger didn't care much for now; he was still far from the level where he needed to consider such issues. Of course, as a demigod and Cardinal of the Church of the Lord of Storms, he believed he was certainly under the watch of the "Lord of Storms." If he fled, he would need the protection of other existences to survive, otherwise the outcome would be unimaginable.

And in this matter, he could only rely on "Mr. Fool."

Taking a deep breath, Alger quickly intoned,

"King who rules the sky, Emperor who dominates the sea, great Storm God, I pray for your attention, I pray for your blessing."

After finishing the prayer, Alger grabbed with his hand, raising a hurricane that carried him toward the underground.

About a dozen seconds later, outside the Wave Church, the waves crashing against the shore surged up with a roar, reaching halfway to the sky.

These azure waters then poured down, enveloping the church like a thick barrier.

Inside the barrier, silver-white lightning flashed one after another, drilling into the ground.

............

Boom!

Lightning like a rainstorm struck down, illuminating the entire Utopia and most of the Raging Sea.

At this moment, a huge church, black in ground and inlaid with numerous skulls, abruptly appeared in midair.

It was located above the area where Zaratul was, and attracted all the surrounding lightning, causing twisted electric snakes to jump among countless pale skulls, and making the stained glass windows reflect bright light.

Boom!

In the places not covered by Adam's bone church, Zaratul's puppet, the historical projection of "Divine Pestilence" Snea, and Klein's puppet were instantly shattered in the violent thunder, then either disappeared directly or shrank and charred into traces.

Even the historical projection of Roselle Gustav, turned into an information stream, could not escape; a strong electromagnetic storm raged through the city, destroying all information structures.

Taking advantage of the "Visionary" blocking the "Tyrant," Zaratul took that step forward and entered the void ahead.

And this void, using the Beyonder power of "Mystery Steward," He connected to another island in the Raging Sea that He had positioned in advance, shortening the distance between them to zero.

Zaratul's figure in a black robe and hood quickly disappeared into the lightning-lit void, but the next second, He appeared not on the distant island, but above the "Iris" hotel in Utopia.

Just then, when Zaratul was stunned by the power of the storm for an instant, Klein in the "Sefirah Castle" seized the opportunity, using the "Curtain" draped over him to mobilize the power of the Origin Substance, forcibly "grafting" the void in front of the target to the "Iris" hotel, silently altering Zaratul's key arrangement.

This was the suppression of a Sequence 1 Angel by a King of Angels of this pathway.

Boom!

Unceasing thunder fell, enveloping Zaratul, whose face had long and dense white beard.

Zaratul's pitch-black, lusterless eyes showed no change in emotion, his body quickly faded, disappearing amidst the lightning.

He had only come as an image from a historical gap.

His true body was hiding in a fragment in the historical mist.

Klein, sitting on the seat of "The Fool," immediately turned his gaze to the grayish-white mist below, to the countless specks of light within the mist.

He couldn't find Zaratul for now, because the other party must be in possession of hidden history known only to Him or very few existences. But not being able to find him didn't mean Klein could only wait, patiently waiting for the opponent to reach their limit and no longer be able to stay in the historical mist. As the owner of the "Sefirah Castle," an existence whose rank reached a King of Angels, Klein could accomplish many things even with only a preliminary use of this Origin Substance.

The next second, Klein opened the box, summoned the "Fool" card, and incorporated it into his body.

In an instant, he turned into "The Fool" in colorful clothes and ornate headpiece, with a deep, terrifying yet slightly clownish and absurd aura, and the entire "Sefirah Castle" gently shook.

Thump!
