Through the Eye of Mysticism, Bernadette saw that the interior of the dark red shrine was completely empty. There was nothing at all besides the usual veil of shadow that shrouded reality.
She couldn't prophesy anything from it and had to withdraw her gaze. Following her intuition, she had the Invisible Servant walk towards the other end of the open area, which was also a primeval forest filled with towering trees.
At the same time, because the Invisible Servant couldn't stray too far from her, Bernadette, wearing the Hat of Invisibility, quietly followed behind, passing through the area that had previously gathered all the creatures of the entire island at a moderate pace.
Here, the sky always seemed a bit gloomy, permeated by a faint darkness.
As time flew by, the Invisible Servant entered the depths of the forest where branches crisscrossed and blocked the sky. The scene before it suddenly darkened.
Immediately after, that almost transparent, cold, and hard-to-detect Eye of Mysticism pierced through the dim environment, noticing pale corpses laid one after another between the trees, and skulls, rotting corpses, and other things hanging from many branches.
Some belonged to giant dragons, some to bird-like creatures, some had eight legs, and some were themselves strange giant trees, completely filling the gaps in this forest.
At a single glance, Bernadette felt as if she had entered a graveyard, and a scene naturally appeared in her mind: Those supernatural creatures gave birth to offspring before dying, passing their Beyonder characteristics to them, while they themselves struggled from all directions to this area of the primeval forest, finding an unoccupied spot, facing a certain direction, quietly dying, gradually rotting, and turning into white bones.
What meaning did this place have for them? As a Master of Prophecy, Bernadette fully believed that the images appearing in her mind were actual events that had happened, but she was puzzled by what kind of power made the creatures on this primeval island choose this place as their cemetery.
Moreover, Green, William, Pelly, and the others who had long since died seemed to still be alive in some form, always staying on this island. There was no reason for the more heavily contaminated supernatural and mutated creatures to completely die off.
This made Bernadette frown slightly. She urged the Invisible Servant to continue forward towards the depths of the Creature Graveyard.
And so, the Invisible Servant traveled through this forest filled with white bones and rotting corpses for nearly a quarter of an hour.
Finally, it saw a fourth kind of thing besides trees, weeds, and corpses.
It was a black stone pillar, about five or six arm spans thick and thirty to forty meters high. Its surface bore ring-like weathering marks, as if it wore one ill-fitting ring after another.
Bernadette let the Eye of Mysticism gaze at the stone pillar for several seconds, but found nothing mystical about it. It seemed like a casually erected symbol.
The Invisible Servant looked around and found that the corpses in the area surrounding this pillar were not heavily decayed, and were still covered with fairly intact flesh and skin.
A superpower that doesn't exist, a strange effect unlike any other place… Unless the newly dead were passively gathered near the pillar, such a uniform trend was impossible…
Bernadette began to suspect that it wasn't that there was no mystery here, but that it only manifested at specific times.
She didn't use her own Prophecy ability to find the reason, because the essence of Prophecy was peering into the River of Fate. The more serious the issue, the higher the rank and level involved, the greater the backlash damage it would bring her. The current inexplicable situation forced Bernadette to be cautious, afraid of being related to an unknown, terrifying existence.
Furthermore, it hadn't caused her any harm yet, so there was no need for her to risk making a Prophecy.
After the Invisible Servant searched and found no clues, it continued forward, trying to cross this graveyard and head to other areas of the primeval forest.
Just then, Bernadette heard a rustling sound.
It was the sound of a breeze passing through the branches and leaves, a tide rising in the void.
Since setting foot on this strange island, Bernadette felt wind for the first time.
Instinctively, she made the Invisible Servant turn its head and look towards the black stone pillar.
Through the Eye of Mysticism, the rotting parts of the corpses around the pillar fell off piece by piece. New flesh seemed to grow out with its own spirituality, and inch by inch, skin gradually covered this horrifying scene.
This change only lasted less than ten seconds before stopping. A small number of the corpses no longer showed any signs of decay, looking as if they had just died.
The next second, a mutated curly-haired baboon and an eight-legged demonic wolf staggered to their feet.
Their fur was slightly whitish, their skin a bit shriveled, their eyes wooden and indifferent.
Then, the two creatures that had originally died each found their bearings and left the graveyard in different directions.
Bernadette's gaze froze, her eyebrows slightly raised. She finally understood why the creatures on this island struggled to come to this area before dying, why they had to die here: Here, the end point of death was not eternal sleep, but a new beginning!
Moreover, this was not the kind of resurrection where a Necromancer raises zombies and skeletons, but a new life with some will and vitality.
Was the bottom-layer rule of the world twisted and chaotic here? Furthermore, it also seemed to carry a hint of the Black Emperor's resurrection mystery… However, the states of those newly born dead weren't quite right. They were more like zombies… Such a resurrection has big problems…
