Chapter 1276: A New Journey

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 856 words

Bonoa Gustav... Klein's gaze drifted over the young man's face before him, coming to rest on the floating objects around and on the doll assembled from metal parts.

The doll had a very postmodern style... It seemed that some of the physical laws here had been altered to a certain extent... Klein nodded thoughtfully and said:

"I want to take that 'magic mirror'."

He stated his demand very frankly.

Bonoa's expression remained unchanged, as if he were merely a doll:

"Are you a blessed of the Night?"

"For now, I suppose so," Klein said with a smile.

Bonoa gave a slight nod:

"Then take it."

He thinks I'm collecting spoils for the ? Klein didn't explain, but only politely tipped his hat and slightly bowed:

"Thank you very much."

As he spoke, Klein's figure suddenly faded and disappeared from the spot.

He had arrived merely as an image from a historical rift.

Inside the carriage where Yikangse and that member of the "Mechanical Heart" were, nothing happened at all.

Of course, they were still in a historical scene; the real condition of the carriage had been unnoticeably concealed.

In a carriage more than a dozen kilometers from the steam train, a mirror suddenly appeared in Klein's hand.

It was entirely silver, with ancient and mysterious patterns on the back, and on the front, two eye-like decorations on each side.

"Don't speak," Klein simply ordered the mirror.

"Yes, great and almighty master," pale silver words emerged lightly from the depths of the mirror.

Klein then took out paper and pen, using the "magic mirror" as a support, and prepared to write a letter.

After a moment of thought, with a faint smile, he wrote:

"Dear Mr. Azik,

"It seems I haven't written to you for a long time, because I went to the Forsaken Land and took a wonderful journey.

"The beings there are only of two kinds: living intelligent creatures and monsters. And those intelligent races are either cursed or already showing obvious deformities, which is more miserable than I imagined.

"I tried to help them. It wasn't just for the ritual, for the anchor, to satisfy my pity; it has meaning in itself…

"Setting aside those sufferings, the entire Forsaken Land is completely different from the outside world, like a series of paintings with black as the main tone… Amazingly, the artificial Death God can influence the undead here to a limited extent. I was puzzled back then, but today I finally have a guess, suspecting it is related to the 'River of ', one of the Nine Great Sources…

"This reminded me of the Spirit World city of Calderon, and the golden undying bird ornament you once mentioned… It's said that the Primordial Phoenix and the 'Death God' of the Fourth Epoch could both utilize the 'River of Eternal Darkness' to a certain extent. Do you have any knowledge about this?

"The war that lasted more than a year has finally ended. The 'Goddess of the Night' achieved final victory, and the '' fell. I think, given your level and status, you should know what this means…

"Regardless, long-lost peace has arrived, and people are gradually returning to their normal lives. That is a scene I like, but some wounds may never heal…

"I don't know if the apocalypse will come on time, nor when you will wake up. I can only hope that everything develops in a good direction.

"Finally, one more trivial matter: I have advanced to Sequence 2 and become a 'Miracle Invoker'. This is both a curse and a hope.

"Best wishes, your eternal student, ."

After writing, Klein carefully checked the letter before folding it, then blew Azik's brass whistle to summon the bone messenger.

When this huge messenger emerged from the ground, all its bones trembled, as if it sensed the presence of the "Great Ruler Above the Spirit World".

Klein chuckled softly, handed the letter to this messenger of unknown number, watched it bow clumsily, then disintegrate into a fountain of bones and burrow into the ground.

Having done this, Klein turned his gaze to the "magic mirror" on his lap.

Feeling his look, the surface of the mirror rippled like water, and one after another, pale silver words emerged:

"Great master, where are we going next?"

Where? Klein repeated the question in his mind. He wanted to directly "teleport" to the main peak of the Hornacis Mountains, enter the ancient palace between reality and the Misty Town, and see if he could take that "Card of Blasphemy" most useful to him from beside the half "Fool" of the family.

With his current strength roughly equivalent to most of Sequence 1, this was not an impossible task—back when was at Sequence 2, he managed to obtain the main ingredients for "Scribe of the Mysteries" from the half "Fool".

Of course, all of this presupposes that the "Goddess of the Night" maintains suppression and sealing of the Antigonus family ancestor.

Thus the matter came full circle, back to the deal with the "Goddess of the Night".
