Chapter 125: A Bold Idea

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 861 words

Faced with an "inexplicable sense of familiarity," other Sequence 9 Beyonders might try to recall it, or they might ignore and forget it, but the Seer was different. Klein directly ended the ritual, dispelled the Spirit Wall, found some paper, and wrote down a divination statement:

"The source of that recent familiarity."

Then, sitting on the edge of the bed in his bedroom, he held the paper and silently recited the sentence.

After seven times, his eyes deepened, and through meditation, he entered a trance to "converse" with his own spirituality.

In a blurry, distorted world, Klein saw a carriage and a young lady wearing a grey-white dress.

The girl had smooth black hair, a rather round face, a gentle and sweet temperament, and her body was trembling abnormally.

The scene flickered, and Klein saw this young, beautiful girl again. She was in an underground trading market, squatting rudely while talking to someone.

The dream quickly faded. Klein woke up and understood why he had found the image reflected in the mirror familiar.

He had seen her in reality!

"The first time I encountered her was on Narcissus Street, which is near Iron Cross Street. That evening, Captain and the others were pursuing the 'Instigator' Triss along Lower Iron Cross Street… There does seem to be a connection between the two…" Klein thought for a few dozen seconds, then arranged a ritual, prayed to the Goddess, and sketched the image of the enemy from his memory.

Dunn and the others had been waiting quietly, not interrupting, until now. They gathered around to examine the portrait.

"Have you seen her before?" Dunn asked.

Klein nodded slightly and replied concisely:

"Yes. On the night you were pursuing the 'Instigator,' I met her at the public carriage stop on Narcissus Street. It's near Iron Cross Street."

"Then she is most likely the enemy from earlier, an accomplice of the Instigator." Dunn nodded as if in thought.

Just then, Leonard gave a start and said:

"Don't you guys find the portrait familiar? She looks a lot like the 'Instigator' Triss!"

Klein was taken aback and immediately looked back at the paper to reexamine the portrait of the young lady.

"Yeah, they really are quite similar: round face, narrow eyes, gentle temperament…" The more he looked, the more he felt Leonard's words held truth, except that the "Instigator" Triss's features combined to make him look ordinary, while the young lady was fairly beautiful.

Klein raised his head and glanced at Leonard, noticing he gave him a suggestive eyebrow raise.

What does that mean? He was puzzled and confused.

thought and speculated:

"Perhaps she is the 'Instigator's' sister, who also joined the Spiritualist Society or the Witch Sect."

Seeing that Klein was not on the same wavelength as him, Leonard sighed inwardly and said seriously:

"I have a bold idea."

"What idea?" Dunn asked.

Leonard stated very directly:

"I suspect that this person is the 'Instigator' Triss!"

"What?" Frey blurted out in surprise.

Dunn frowned and said:

"You mean, the 'Instigator' Triss is actually a woman? Or the person earlier was a man disguised as a woman? No, from the contact in the dream, I confirm she is a woman."

Klein, having seen many wild ideas and incredible plots, looked at the portrait again and immediately had another guess:

"Could it be that the 'Instigator' Triss has become a woman?"

If so, many details could be explained. For example, why Triss's trail suddenly went cold, and even divination could find no trace—because the target had fundamentally changed! The only problem was: how could he turn into a woman so easily? And the transformed "cross-dressing overlord" actually looked pretty good—no, to be honest, she looked quite decent… Klein's thoughts wandered.

Leonard nodded approvingly and said, "Yes, that's my idea. It perfectly explains the 'Instigator' Triss's sudden disappearance, and it fits the characteristic of the Witch Sect's upper ranks being all women."

"..." Dunn and Frey were momentarily speechless.

Even though they had seen many monsters and many miraculous things, it was their first time encountering such a transformation!

"You mean that many of the high-ranking ladies in the Witch Sect were once men?" Dunn asked rhetorically, then without waiting for an answer, he added, "It is indeed possible… This might be a characteristic of their Sequence potion."

Klein felt a chill below his waist when he heard that. He thought the Witch Sequence's potion was simply atrocious!

"I hope the 'Seer' Sequence doesn't have such a terrible potion… No, it definitely doesn't. One is the Witch pathway; you can tell just from the name… But I don't know what the corresponding Sequence 1 of the Seer is…" He subconsciously began to pray to the Goddess.

"A potion can do this?" Frey still asked in disbelief.

Leonard shrugged and laughed:

"Even mid- and low-sequence potions can cause miraculous changes, after all, they all originated from the Creator."

At that moment, Dunn turned to Klein and said, "Try to divine the target's current location."

"Alright." Klein walked over to the pile of dresses scattered about and, with mixed feelings, picked one up and laid it on the carpet.
