Klein pressed against the ashen wall, slowly sat up, and shook his head with a smile. "My brain refuses to work until I get some food in my stomach."
This was both a truth and a lie. Before becoming a proper Mythical Creature, Saints could still get hungry and thirsty, but a Sequence 3 Demigod could easily go ten days or half a month without food or water. As for a complete Mythical Creature, eating was just a pastime, not a necessity.
What Klein meant was that before he could officially begin his escape, he needed to bring his condition to its peak.
"The habit of a 'Magician',"
Klein glanced at the leather lantern on the ground, thought for a few seconds, then reached out with his right hand and snatched at the air.
A low coffee table appeared before him, an item from Dwayne Dantès's estate.
In the dim yellow light, Klein reached out again, performing a summoning, and pulled an exquisitely wrapped box from the Historical Void.
The box contained a full set of tableware, including knives, forks, plates, and cups.
Klein chose this particular item because he couldn't assemble a complete set by summoning individual pieces of cutlery separately. He could only maintain three images from the Historical Void at once.
Leisurely arranging the tableware, Klein politely tilted his head and nodded at Amon, who was wearing a pointed soft hat. Only then did he summon a medium-well steak smothered in black pepper sauce from the Historical Void.
It landed on the porcelain plate, steaming slightly, and when the steak knife cut through it, a side with residual myoglobin was exposed.
Klein speared a piece of the beef and stuffed it into his mouth. The texture was authentic, the taste wonderful—not fake at all—and it genuinely soothed the burning in his stomach.
"Within fifteen minutes, I won't just be full, I'll also gain supplementary 'Reality'," Klein explained to Amon with a smile after swallowing the piece of beef, like a hospitable host rather than a poor Beyonder who had been cruelly kidnapped.
Amon pushed up the lower edge of his crystal monocle and nodded with a grin. "I've tried it. Not bad." "You're adjusting your state pretty quickly. Sure you don't want to be my Blessed?"
Klein cut another piece of beef, speared it, and replied as if chatting with a friend. "Just kill me, then."
At that moment, frequent flashes of lightning and boundless, endless darkness alternately ruled this land. Where the light couldn't reach, countless pairs of eyes watched emotionlessly. Twisted wild grass with dark red tips swayed gently with the occasional breeze.
Inside the half-collapsed building, the dim yellow light cast a warm glow over the artistic coffee table and the exquisite tableware, and the smell of the pan-fried steak faintly filled the air—a stark contrast to the harsh external environment just moments away.
Klein, bearing the gaze of the terrible monsters deep in the darkness, gracefully and elegantly enjoyed his meal on this bleak, gray land that was brewing unimaginable terror.
After finishing the steak, he summoned a small glass of ice wine from the Mogo Estate and downed it in one gulp.
Next, cream soup, pan-fried cod, stewed lamb with peas, jacket potatoes, and various wines were summoned in turn and entered Klein's stomach.
During this process, the steak he had eaten first exceeded its maintenance time and vanished into thin air, but Klein's stomach and body, numbed by the subsequent food, didn't notice.
Of course, the coffee table and tableware had to be resummoned along the way, or they wouldn't have lasted until the end.
Reaching the end of the meal, Klein reached out again and took a bowl of vanilla ice cream from the void.
Klein then spooned the ice cream a scoop at a time, putting it into his mouth and savoring its melting sweetness.
After finishing one scoop, still unsatisfied, he summoned another from the Historical Void.
And so, Klein ate five scoops of ice cream, each a different flavor.
When Klein reached out for a sixth time, Amon, sitting to his side, suddenly laughed. "Your fate has undergone an abnormal change. It's quite lucky now." "Was this your preparation?"
Klein's outstretched right hand immediately froze in midair, and his pupils seemed to dilate.
Almost at the same time, in the profound darkness around him, where the lantern's light couldn't reach, all the grotesque creatures twitched simultaneously and instantly transformed into Klein's marionettes.
This time, Klein sent out a hundred "
Immediately after, the figure behind the coffee table, wearing a black woolen coat and no hat, was replaced by a hideous vampire covered in festering pus.
The artistic coffee table and exquisite tableware shattered like glass dropped on the floor, cracking into countless fractures and falling apart.
They quickly returned to the Historical Void so as not to affect Klein's subsequent summons.
The next second, those hundred marionettes, along with Klein's main body which was hidden who knows where, all reached out their hands into the void at the same time, relying on the sheer number of attempts to circumvent Amon's interference.
In that moment, they were all "Ancient Scholars."
This was an ability derived from "Faceless," the source of a "Seer's" qualitative change.
Of course, the summoning probability for each marionette was independent, with no influence on each other.
At this moment, Klein was summoning the projection of Miss Messenger
Amon remained seated leisurely in the same spot, a faint light glowing in his monocle as he watched one hundred and one Kleins simultaneously performing the summoning.
