Chapter 1075: The Answer to the Question (Thanks to White Silver Alliance Mr. Wang Wearing a Diving Suit)

December 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 823 words

"Justice" Audrey and "The Star" Leonard left the area above the Fog, but Klein didn't immediately return to the real world.

He still sat in the high-backed chair belonging to "The World," remaining silent for a full ten-plus seconds.

Then he waved his hand and summoned an item.

It was a "heart" the size of a child's fist, covered in gray-white wrinkles.

The Marionettist Beyonder characteristic!

Holding this Beyonder characteristic, Klein stood up and walked outside the majestic palace, all the way into the depths of the mysterious space above the Gray Fog, until he reached the radiant staircase that led to a heavenly realm.

He ascended the stairs to the gray-white clouds floating in midair, stopping in front of the strange, luminous gate and the transparent "cocoons" hanging down from it. Klein raised his right hand and brought the heart-like, brain-like Marionettist Beyonder characteristic up to the level of his chest, extending his spirituality in an attempt to drive it.

He wanted to see if the people trapped inside the "cocoons" still had hidden consciousness, if they had precipitated and merged into a miniature collective subconscious ocean.

If so, he planned to use the Marionettist Beyonder characteristic left by Heven Lambis to enter the realm of consciousness, inspect the spiritual imprints, and figure out what those people suspended by the gate had encountered before their "transmigration," and whether they had sensed anything during the long "slumber."

That was the inspiration today's exploration gave him.

Of course, the Beyonder characteristic left by Heven Lambis might not necessarily help Klein accomplish what he wanted, since it hadn't been made into a magic item yet and was difficult to utilize effectively.

An instant later, the "heart" in Klein's hand, covered in gray-white wrinkles, began to beat slowly, making a thump-thump sound.

Then Klein heard synchronized heartbeats from inside each transparent "cocoon": Thump-thump, thump-thump...

It meant that everyone inside was still alive, just in some kind of dormant state.

In Klein's vision, their forms gradually transformed into islands with clear tops and blurry bottoms.

That represented their realms of consciousness.

But these "mental islands" were also bound inside the transparent "cocoons," isolated from outside detection.

Similarly, they couldn't precipitate and merge with each other to form a collective subconscious ocean.

"If I don't destroy the 'cocoons,' I can't bypass them and enter the corresponding mental world..." Klein muttered to himself silently, lowering his hand holding the Marionettist Beyonder characteristic.

After a few seconds, he let out a long sigh, turned around, and left the place.

In the Queen's District, inside the luxurious villa of the Hall family.

Audrey, covered with a silk quilt and sleeping with her eyes closed, suddenly opened her eyes.

She immediately flipped over, sat up, moved to the edge of the bed, and devoutly prayed to "Mr. Fool," asking Him to witness her vow of secrecy.

After that, she grabbed a cushion, propped it behind her back, and reminisced about the experiences from this exploration that hadn't yet been "forgotten."

"The history of ancient times is interesting yet inexplicably terrifying... Mr. 'Star's' behavior matches what I usually observe of him: he's quite scatterbrained, casual, his thoughts easily drift and are hard to control, but sometimes he shows experience, keenness, and reliability... That's not contradictory; many people are such a 'combination'..."

"Mr. 'World' is essentially a gentle person; his face barely shows expression, but he's always mumbling inwardly; the mental dialogue between him and Mr. 'Star' could be made into a play..."

"They say he's a crazy adventurer who, when he sees a target, doesn't consider danger or environment, just draws his gun and fires... Hmm, at the last moment, I thought he'd try to approach the bronze door, but he... he fled, no, disengaged very decisively!" Audrey thought, and the corners of her mouth lifted slightly.

Then she made a summary: "As it turns out, in the mystical world, unless they've completely lost their mind or given up thinking, there are no truly reckless Beyonders; caution, carefulness, 'don't look at what you shouldn't,' 'don't listen to what you shouldn't,' that's the main theme here.

"Audrey, remember this!"

At 7 Pinster Street, Leonard returned to his body.

He quickly thought through how he should communicate with Pallez Soroast, then, acting as if nothing had happened, said in a low voice: "Old man, there's something I want to ask you."

In his mind, Pallez's slightly aged voice chuckled: "You have to remember: the more you ask, the more I might guess what you did tonight."

"It's not something that needs special secrecy..." Leonard replied habitually before getting to the point. "Old man, what do you know about the brothers?"

"That depends on what aspect you want to know." Pallez Soroast threw the question back at Leonard.

Leonard thought for a moment and said: "After that brother of Amon obtained '0–08,' was he only one ritual away from becoming a god?"
