Chapter 1064: The Lord's Left Hand

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 847 words

In a rather remote part of Pesote City, there was a church built of rough stone, with a crude appearance that still needed finishing.

The most conspicuous and delicate thing inside was an altar, upon which stood a wooden cross and a tall figure carrying the cross on its back.

The ascetic monk, , sat in the front row, facing the statue, with his head bowed and eyes closed, praying intently.

He was a middle-aged man, not old but with some wrinkles, wearing a simple white robe that had been washed countless times, with short brown hair; his exposed arms, shoulders, calves, and feet were covered with all kinds of old scars.

At that moment, two men and a woman entered the church. The men were both dressed in black trench coats and matching trousers, completely different from the surroundings. One wore a vest, a half top hat, and a formal bow tie; the other was casually wearing a white shirt. The former had sharp features and a stern face; the latter had black hair and green eyes, quite good-looking, but with a poetically bohemian and lax aura.

The lady wore a fitted white dress with ruffled cuffs and a lace bow on the chest. She wore an exquisite silver-white mask on her face, revealing emerald-like eyes, a high-bridged nose, slightly glossed lips, and the lower part of her cheeks, making one involuntarily imagine how beautiful her complete face must be.

They were so conspicuous, from any angle, but the passersby, the few believers in the church, and the praying ascetic monk did not spare them a single glance, completely ignoring them.

This was a combination of "Illusion" and "Psychological Invisibility."

Justice Audrey, already in the active operation mode, no longer showed obvious curiosity. She swept her gaze and said in a gentle voice:

"The most important issue now is to make Mr. Snowman fall asleep; otherwise, we have to wait until night."

The night of this world.

"Take it easy, it's a trifle." Star Leonard responded with a smile.

Compared to Miss Justice, who had only experienced paranormal incidents a few times, as a Nighthawk he had seen too much and was very calm, even wanting to joke around with Klein.

Of course, he didn't know that Miss Justice had just "hypnotized" a demigod.

Klein glanced at his former teammate:

"Let's start then."

He was "carrying" the "Unshadowed Cross," and in less than three hours, he would regress to Sequence 5 and expel the Beyonder characteristic of the Faceless. Naturally, he didn't want to waste any time.

"Back to the crazy adventurer mode, huh..." Leonard didn't elaborate; he raised his hand to adjust his hair, and his green eyes suddenly became deep.

Silently, the ascetic monk Snowman, who had been praying with his eyes closed, fell into a deep sleep.

"This is the Beyonder power of 'Nightmare'..." Justice Audrey watched with sparkling eyes and silently muttered to herself in contemplation.

She had actually seen "Nightmare" before, when dealing with Viscount Ernest Boyle, but due to the hurried process, she hadn't fully experienced it; now she could observe it completely.

Then, she raised her hands, grabbed the arms of the two men, The World and The Star, and using the ability of "Dreamwalker," leaped into Snowman's dream.

"I could have done it myself..." Leonard muttered as he just entered the grayish world.

Klein and Audrey didn't listen to what he said; they quickly looked around and fully took in the scene of Snowman's dream:

This was also a church, an extremely magnificent church.

Classical stone pillars held up the high dome, but they didn't break the hall into fragments; it remained incredibly spacious.

The church's doors were so high and wide that even a giant would find them too big; on each side, candles placed in silver cups emitted warm light.

At the front, the altar was grand and splendid, with a pale cross and a statue carrying the cross above it.

The face of the statue was not very clear, but it seemed to have a feeling of compassion for the world.

Snowman also sat in the first row, facing the altar, head down, eyes closed, praying intently.

"This is very similar to the abandoned church in that little Sun showed us; it should be from the same era." Justice Audrey said softly as her gaze swept over the stone arches.

At the same time, she was trying to calm her inner curiosity, telling herself to be calm.

"Little Sun? What's little about him? He's clearly taller and more muscular than me... Abandoned church in Afternoon Town..." Star Leonard thought with half contempt and half confusion.

When he joined the , Sun Derrick had already returned to the , and though he occasionally mentioned exploring the "," he no longer materialized the corresponding scenes.

"Indeed." Klein withdrew his gaze, agreed with Miss Justice, and then said to her, "Try to guide Snowman's dream and get him to reveal important information from his subconscious, focusing on the Angel King-related parts."
