Chapter 1008: Aftermath

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 853 words

160 Berkland Street. After watching Leonard fly out of that "concealed" world with a single hand gripping the "Ocean's Whisper" cane, Klein turned his attention back to his surroundings.

He first examined the "Winner" Enyuni. He had thought that the puppet that had been "parasitized" by could no longer be used, but to his surprise, he found that he could once again manipulate its "Spirit Body Threads"!

This... Klein was momentarily stunned, but quickly understood why:

The "Restart" of the Snake of Destiny, , had made Amon regress while also causing His "parasitized" subjects to undergo the same change. Thus, the "Winner" Enyuni had once again become a puppet!

As expected of one of the strongest abilities in Sequence 1 of the "Monster" pathway... Klein sighed in relief. His figure quickly turned transparent, and he faded away.

He "teleported" back to the master bedroom, leaving a bunch of puppets in various places to guard against any mishaps.

Next, Klein entered the bathroom, went above the Fog, and, once again using the prayer glint of the "Winner" Enyuni, he held the "" and checked the entire neighborhood.

Unsurprisingly, he focused on his own residence and the house at number 39. He noticed that the butler , the housekeeper Taneja, Senator Macht, Lady Liana, and several male and female servants all had residual traces of "parasitism" and appeared somewhat wooden.

As for Heizer, she was nearly broken, with her hands on the floor, retreating to the corner, pressed against the wall, huddled up and trembling.

Senator Macht and the others noticed something was wrong with her and gathered around, concerned, trying to find the reason.

But whenever they tried to approach, Heizer let out a high-pitched scream and violently resisted, forcing them to keep a distance of several meters. They were anxious and confused, not knowing what to do.

In the process, they would push up their glasses or rub their eyes, which only made Heizer even more terrified. It seemed that it wouldn't be long before she lost control.

Seeing this scene from above the Gray Fog, Klein felt a strange chill, imagining a picture:

Father Amon, Mother Amon, maid Amon, footman Amon were all circling Heizer, trying to comfort her but unable to find a way. They had the same appearance, the same monocle, and different clothes.

Even if Heizer held on and didn't lose control, she would likely be traumatized, at least half-crazed... Emergency intervention is needed... As these thoughts raced through Klein's mind, he put down the "Sea God Scepter" and returned to the real world.

Berkland Street and the surrounding area were still enveloped in a dim darkness, giving a sense of peace, stillness, and profundity.

It was a world that had become a "secret."

Klein took off his top hat, put it on his head, and "teleported" to an office of the Loen Charity Bursary Fund at 22 Pinsfield Street.

Audrey had already changed into a light green dress and was holding a fountain pen, daydreaming and replaying every detail of the punitive action at noon, while her large golden dog had finished her task and gone out for a walk.

Suddenly, the noble girl sensed something and raised her head.

In her clear green eyes, a figure quickly reflected: black hair, brown eyes, a thin face, and sharp features.

He was wearing a white shirt, a black vest, black trousers, and black boots. His expression was cold, his hand pressing down on his hat, his body slightly hunched.

Audrey was first startled, then instantly remembered who it was.

Gehrman Sparrow!

Although she had never directly encountered him before, she had seen some newspapers with highly realistic portrait sketches of him on wanted posters.

Judging from "Justice"’s reaction, Klein realized he hadn't changed back to Dwayne Dantès. But he wasn't too bothered about it. He released his hand that was pressing on his hat, straightened up, and nodded.

"There's something I need your help with."

His disguise had also been stolen by Amon, but after the other party's "Restart," it had been returned. He simply hadn't had the time to change back to Dwayne Dantès.

"Mr. 'World,' already a demigod, needs my help? Is his mind acting up again and he needs treatment? No, he doesn't look like it..." Audrey bit her lip, curious and somewhat expectant, put down her pen, stood up, and replied seriously.

"No problem."

Without any further ado, Klein walked over and grabbed "Justice"'s arm. Then their figures gradually faded away, disappearing.

A moment later, they appeared outside the living room door of the house at 39 Berkland Street.

"Is this 'teleportation'?" Audrey's green eyes darted, and she wanted to ask, but she sensed the heavy atmosphere and heard a sudden scream, so her face turned serious.

"Is the patient inside?" she asked, showing understanding.

"It's easy to communicate with a 'Spectator'; there's no need for much explanation..." Klein grunted. "Yes, she encountered a supernatural event and was severely frightened. She's on the verge of losing control.

"Do you have a way to be unseen by the others inside?"
