So I'm a Spider, So What? · Chapter 459

SS: Halloween

April 4, 2017 · 2 min read · 405 words

A little side story that has nothing to do with the main story.

"Trick or treat!"

"What's this? You're barging in out of nowhere."

On Halloween day, I had stormed over to D's place.

Don't you know about this!?

When you say Halloween, it's one of the two great holidays where you get to demand candy from people!

The other one is Valentine's Day, for the record.

Technically I'm female in terms of biological classification, so I can participate. In this case, it'd be friendship chocolate.

Which I don't have any friends for, though!

Anyway, it's Halloween.

A wonderful little festival where children go around demanding candy from adults.

So naturally, I'd come to demand candy from D.

I'd gone all out and even made a witch-girl cosplay outfit just for this day.

Witch-girl Spider, complete and ready!

Now, hand over the candy!

"Here."

What D held out was a single bag of cheap snack crackers you could buy for ten yen.

That's not right!

Sure, they're actually tasty for what they are, but still!

For an event like this, you're supposed to have something better prepared!

"Be that as it may, this is all I have on hand right now."

Ugh, grrr...

"Well, since you're already dressed up, why don't we go out and buy some candy?"

"Huh? No way."

Going out in this outfit would attract way too much attention.

Why should I have to subject myself to that kind of humiliation?

"Then why did you come here dressed like that?"

"Vibes."

D's expressionless face was somehow especially terrifying at that moment.

I can never tell what she's thinking.

I consider myself to have a pretty solid poker face when dealing with the public, but I don't think I'm on D's level.

After pondering for a moment, D slowly stood up.

When she'd been sitting, her outfit looked like perfectly ordinary casual wear, but the instant she stood, she'd already changed into a witch-girl costume matching mine.

Even with these seaweed-something eyes of mine, I couldn't catch the moment the outfit changed.

"Well then, shall we go?"

"Where are we going?"

"Outside, obviously."

"Why?"

"Because it sounds more fun that way."

Resistance was futile, and I got dragged off to a cosplay festival venue.

I'll just say that the twin witch-girls were the life of the party.

Exhausting...

Today's lesson.

Don't try to rope D into events. Nothing good ever comes of it.
