A brief rest during the march.
Together with Isis, I ended up hunting a monster that happened to be near the road... a Giant Buffalo.
As the name suggests, a Giant Buffalo is literally a large water buffalo.
A short distance away, a buffalo the size of an elephant was lazily grazing on grass.
(With such a huge cow eating grass, it seems like it could wipe out all the plants in the country... but that's just how another world is, I guess.)
In this world, the soil and plants contain mana and are rich in nutrients.
Even if the Giant Buffalo were to eat all the grass in the area, it would likely recover within a few days.
(Giant Buffalo are monsters hunted for food. I hear they can't be domesticated because they're too big, but the meat is delicious.)
I didn't find it troublesome.
Rather, I was tired of the oppressive atmosphere of war. It would make for a good change of pace.
"The Giant Buffalo's strength is its massive body, as you can see. Be careful, because even amateur adventurers have been crushed when trying to hunt them."
"Yes, I understand. Miss Isis."
Rest nodded at Isis's advice.
He had fought Giant Buffalo before. There were about twenty in the herd, but even if they all charged, he could probably take them down.
That's why this should be a good leisure activity during the march.
"Alright, it's a competition. I'll start."
"Hey, let me join in too."
Just as Rest and Isis were about to hunt the Giant Buffalo, Wilhelm Lubeth, also known as the 'Sword Saint Who Hates Women,' called out to them.
Behind Lubeth were several knights and magicians.
"Oh? You're all doing it too?"

As Isis raised her hand in a friendly greeting, Lubeth leaped backward with a "Zuzazazza!"
It was a backstep of incredible speed, leaving large footprints in the ground.
"Stay away from me, women! Don't touch me! Don't look at me!"
"Uh..."
"He's going through puberty. Just leave him be."
Rest shrugged at the bewildered Isis.
"It's fine, isn't it? Even if they join us?"
"Ah, of course. The more competition, the more exciting it'll be."
Everyone readied themselves. The knights and swordsmen gripped their weapons, and the magicians began to refine their mana.
There was no reward for winning, but since they were going to do it anyway, they didn't want to lose.
"Then, start!"
At Isis's signal, everyone moved at once.
As expected, Lubeth was the first to dash forward.
Despite his uselessness when it came to dealing with women, his physical abilities were exceptional. He ran at an incredible speed.
"Just as I thought. Fast...!"
However, Rest soon caught up and ran alongside him.
He activated the Super Acceleration spell and caught up with Lubeth, who had gone ahead.
"Huh... not bad, huh?"
"That's my line... You're a monster to keep up with magic speed using just your body."
"Hmph... It's because you rely on magic that your physique doesn't develop!"
As he said that, Lubeth swung his sword.
Though they were still some distance from the Giant Buffalo, a mana slash flew from his sword, cleaving the head of a nearby one.
"BMOOOOOOOOOOH!"
"I see, it's hard!"
The Giant Buffalo's skull is thick and hard.
Even Lubeth couldn't kill it with a blow from that distance.
But he quickly closed in on the Giant Buffalo's massive body and this time slashed at its neck.
"Hmph!"
The large head separated from the body and rolled to the ground.
"One down."
"I see... Then me too!"
Rest, too, had already closed in on a Giant Buffalo.
"["
"Ice Cannon"
"]"
"BMOOO!?"
The intense ice struck another giant buffalo, reaping its life.
The giant buffalo, completely encased in ice, collapsed to the ground.
"I got one too!"
"BMOOOOOOOO!"
Just as Rest and Lubeth each took one down, the giant buffalos panicked.
They charged at the pair, or tried to flee the scene.
"[Wind Blade]!"
"Chaaarge!"
But at that point, Isis and the rest of the group arrived.
They fired off spells, swung their weapons, and brought down the giant buffalos one after another.
The advance team of the foreign tribes subjugation force successfully secured several thousand kilograms of meat, amassing a massive supply of provisions.
While Rest took down the most in terms of numbers, the one who hunted the largest specimen was Lubeth.
The hunting match concluded as a draw between Rest and Lubeth.
