"Ugh, I'm so bored~ All the talented students have already graduated. Won't some promising student just drop in from somewhere~?"
Agata, an instructor at Gloria Academy, was killing time with nothing to do.
She specialized in teaching magic circle studies — a subject that was actually essential for becoming a court magician.
But the difficulty was absurdly high, and since it was completely useless for casual players, hardly anyone even knew the subject existed.
The students she'd been teaching until recently had already been sent off.
It would still be a while before the next batch came in.
Should she research better teaching methods, or redo basic training to raise her own magic power?
While she was mulling over this, the classroom door opened for the first time in a while.
"Is this the magic circle studies classroom?"
A boy walked in.
She recognized him — he was the commoner student Lord Geese had gotten in through the recommendation quota.
Commoners who made it in were typically children of major merchants, and most of them built connections with nobles before eventually dropping out anyway.
So, what kind of kid was this one?
He'd been recommended by Lord Geese, so… should she go easy on him?
There were no other students around right now, anyway.

The classroom that Class had directed him to had a female instructor with short purple hair and an intellectual face, lounging about looking bored.
She looked like she might actually give a proper lecture.
Also, she had big breasts.
"I heard from Klaas that I could audit as many lectures as I want."
"Oh, that show-off. I don't know how he put it, but my lectures are tough. Don't think you can become a court magician for free."
"I'm not here to become a court magician, but..."
"Then what are you here for? What's your goal?"
"To get as strong as I can, so I don't die."
"Hm, well... is that vague goal really enough?"
"I'm actually quite serious."
I stared into the instructor's eyes.
She was sizing me up in return.
"...Well, fine. I've got nothing better to do anyway. Shall we get started right away?"
"Please."
"Oh, before that, can you show me some magic?"
"Some magic" — yet another vague instruction.
"Sure. 'Hell Blaze.'"
Dark, crimson-black flames erupted from my palm.
It was a rank above the magic Katze had used.
"Wait, hold on — how can you use that? And without an incantation, no less! That's not Katze's magic, and he was trash but a genius! No... it's even stronger than that."
"I just tried it and it worked. I think it's because I can use [Scorching Magic] and [Dark Magic]."
"Hey, what exactly did you come here to learn?"
"I came to learn things I don't know. I figured it's always better to know than not to know."
"Why are you only sensible about that one thing…?"
"I do have the qualifications to receive your teachings, so please take care of me. Um…"
"My name is Agata, Alan-kun. When Geese-san recommended you, I figured I'd better go easy, but it seems that won't be necessary."
"Yes. I think Geese-san would actually get angry if you held back."
"He'd get angry just because I went easy? How unreasonable. Well then, let's finally get started."
"Instructor Agata, I look forward to working with you."
Just as they were about to begin, the classroom door opened again.
"Wait a moment!"
It was Merity-san who walked in.
"Please let me sit in on that lecture too!"
"Sure, why not, I was going to let you tag along anyway. But if you can't keep up, I'm kicking you out. I don't tolerate people who are just here for fun, you know."
