This is an official record of knife losses.
■ The First One
● First Appearance: Wof, 13 Years Old (5)
● Victim:
The first knife I ever had.
It was cheap, but I'd sharpened it myself and used it as a stand-in kitchen knife.
● Cause of Death:
I got distracted and it snapped with a crack.
Part of the leather armor I'd been struggling to remove had metal in it.
The blade caught on it at a weird angle, popped, and that was that.
■ The Second One
● First Appearance: Ash Blossom (3) — Holy Edge.
● Victim:
The knife I bought after the first one broke.
It looked similar to the previous one.
● Cause of Death:
First, I pulled an egg container out of my pouch.
I cracked the contents onto the knife blade. The wet knife glinted and sparkled.
Result: it could no longer cut.
■Third one
●Debut: The Quiet One, Part 4
●Sacrifice:
The 20,000-oro knife I splurged on.
●Cause of death:
Vanished by my Banish Relic due to my own carelessness.
■Fourth one
●Debut: Crown of the Wonderland, Part 4
●Sacrifice:
A secondhand knife.
Simple construction, thick blade. A little heavy. Sturdy.
●Cause of death:
An attack from a monster's crown.
It lunged in a stabbing motion, but I calmly blocked it with my knife.
When the blade made contact—my knife's blade was severed.
"…!?"
No, that's not right. I can tell. It wasn't severed. It was erased.
■Fifth one
●Debut: The Junkyard Reopens, Part 3 — Marrow-Plucking, Brain-Eating, Shura-Gripping, Hunting Hand.
●Sacrifice:
A knife found in the Junkyard. A knife from some ethnic group.
A large, severely curved black single-edged blade. A round sword guard. It vaguely resembled the tsuba of a Japanese sword.
The handle was made of smooth white stone. The scabbard was hard wood.
●Cause of death:
But Entity A squirmed its left arm, turning it into a blade.
It swung down while charging, and I stepped forward to block with the knife.
The instant they met, the knife's blade melted.
■Sixth one
●Debut: Tassan of the Ring (2)
●Sacrifice:
One of the three I bought for 50,000 oro.
A simple knife. Actually, it was from the Standard Series.
●Cause of death
Piece raised its sword, and I blocked with the knife again — and released it in an instant.
With a sharp crunch, the knife that had caught the blade fell, and I leaped away.
I left the knife on the ground and forgot about it.
■Seventh one:
●Debut: Cat and Dog ⑥
●Sacrifice:
The second of the knives I bought for 50,000 oro. A weird single-edged knife with a blade curved upward.
Slightly heavy, but thick and powerful.
●Cause of death:
Only the hand holding the knife was frozen solid.
W-why!?
"Damn it, why only this hand?"
Irritated, I used [Banish]. I had to hurry or I'd get frostbite.
The ice on my hand and the knife's handle vanished.
The blade fell to the ground.
●Revival:
After that, Pakira found the blade and brought it to Wof.
It was reborn as a new double-edged knife.
■Number eight:
●First appearance: Tomb of Death 4 — Yomid's Saturnus. Tomb of Death 6 — Rest in Peace.
●Sacrifice:
The elixir knife.
●Cause of death:
I used Silent Move during the fight against Saturnus.
At some point during that battle, it snapped.
The elixir knife had broken. Let me repeat that. The elixir knife had broken.
The elixir knife I'd been gripping so hard had almost no blade left.
It wasn't a clean snap right through the middle.
It was broken at a steep angle from the base. A huge portion of the blade was simply gone.
● Revival:
The brother of a sibling pair of Kuun Hunt hires had combined it with a sword through Relic Synthesis.
It was reborn as a Holy Sword. Its sanctity had been downgraded, however.
■ Ninth Blade:
● First Appearance: Rank V Delver (1)
● Sacrifice:
Agaro's knife.
● Cause of Death:
The blade was flexing in a double deflection, and Riv charged forward.
She struck downward while simultaneously blocking with the knife.
The intense impact and pressure — at that moment she felt a strange heaviness in the knife.
A sense of danger welled up and she tried to pull back, but her body wouldn't move.
The blade's deflection came to an abrupt halt.
"Crash Edge."
The knife shattered.
A total of nine blades. May they rest in peace.
