Above the South Sea of the Yulan Continent, Beirut and his party of four sliced through the sky in an instant.
"Become a Chief God?" Lin Lei looked at Beirut ahead of him.
Everything that had happened in just a single day—shock after shock—had left Lin Lei somewhat numb. First Beirut had revealed his Chief God-level power, then Greenfire had demonstrated the might of a Chief God as well, and just moments ago, he had met the Life Chief God. Lin Lei felt as though he were dreaming.
And now, the hidden meaning behind Beirut's words seemed to suggest that he wanted Lin Lei to become a Chief God too.
Lin Lei forced himself to stay calm before speaking. "Lord Beirut, why would you choose me for this precious opportunity to become a Chief God? Harry and the others, and Bei Bei… you should be choosing them." He said it bluntly—in terms of relationship, Harry and his brothers were Beirut's own children.
"Them?" Beirut glanced back at Lin Lei and smiled. "I gave them the chance, but they couldn't seize it."
"Grandpa, what do you mean they couldn't seize it?" Bei Bei asked quickly.
Beside them, Greenfire raised his crimson eyebrows and gazed out at the surging seas ahead with a smile. "Alright, we've arrived."
"What is this?" Lin Lei sensed their location. "Below us, there should be a spatial gate. Leading to the Divine Tombs!" He and the others had ventured into the Divine Tombs before, back when Lin Lei was only at the Saint Realm. He had endured countless hardships and ultimately obtained a divine spark, but even then, he had only made it to the eleventh level.
"Come." Beirut smiled and immediately flew downward.
"Whoosh~~" The once-calm seas instantly churned, and the water parted like curtains on either side, revealing a passage that plunged into fathomless depths.
Lin Lei and Bei Bei followed close behind Beirut and Greenfire as they flew toward the bottom of the ocean.
The deep sea was silent and devoid of light. Massive abyssal creatures drifted slowly through the darkness. The four of them plunged into the seabed in an instant, moving so fast that many of the deep-sea magical beasts didn't even notice them.
The ocean floor was covered with tangled undersea vegetation and underwater mountain ridges.
The reef formations rose in layers, some nearly a thousand meters high, while others suddenly dipped into black, bottomless chasms.
Lin Lei and the others stood on the seabed, walking along. Beirut, leading the way, suddenly turned and dove into a deep chasm among the reef clusters. The three of them had no choice but to follow. The seemingly endless chasm was like the gullet of some colossal beast—cold, dark, and unfathomably deep.
"Grandpa, aren't we going to the Divine Tombs? The spatial gate leading to the Divine Tombs' plane is still ahead. Why are we going this way?" Bei Bei pressed as he hurried to keep up.
"I need to retrieve something," Beirut said with a smile.
Lin Lei's mind was full of questions, but he kept his silence and continued to follow as they descended. After plunging roughly ten thousand meters, they finally reached the bottom. The deepest point of the chasm was an open space several hundred meters across. Strangely, even the seawater was kept at bay.
"Grandpa, what exactly are we retrieving?" Bei Bei asked curiously.
Greenfire beside him sighed. "Beirut, you made all these preparations back then. It seems they won't be needed after all."
Beirut extended his hand, and a powerful burst of green radiance shot from his palm. In an instant, it split into ten thousand slender threads of green light that sank into the stone walls at the bottom of the chasm. The walls greedily absorbed the green glow, and slowly, a vast array of magical runes began to surface across the stone.
"Is this a magic array?" Lin Lei frowned.
"It's a rather unique grand sealing formation," Greenfire said with a smile. "Beirut obtained it from the Infernal Realm somehow. After he modified it, opening this seal requires the power of a Chief God. Otherwise, it's impossible to break."
"Lord Beirut?" Lin Lei was puzzled. "This sealing formation is set up in the Yulan Plane. But no other Chief God can enter the Yulan Plane. Why go to such extremes?"
"Just as a precaution." Beirut sighed. "In case one day I'm killed by the Radiant Sovereign, and this treasure is taken from me. That's why I never carry it with me—I left it here in the Yulan Plane. I worried the Radiant Sovereign might send a Highgod to seize it, so this sealing formation requires at minimum Chief God-level power to break."
"If I should die one day, this treasure will be entrusted to Greenfire for safekeeping." As he spoke, the glow from the stone walls at the bottom of the chasm grew increasingly brilliant, almost blinding.
Suddenly—
"Boom!"
The surrounding walls and the ground trembled violently, then crumbled entirely into fine dust that cascaded downward.
"The sealing formation?" Lin Lei understood immediately. Beirut had used the formation to seal the bottom layer of the chasm—a solid half-meter of stone wall. With Beirut's power backing the seal, anyone who wanted to break it would need at least his level of strength.
But setting up such a formation could not have been easy.
"Lord Beirut, if this sealing formation still exists, why did you break it yourself today?" Lin Lei asked, confused.
"It no longer serves a purpose, so I might as well break it." Beirut smiled, then waved his hand. A gust of wind swept downward, blowing the dust and sand aside to reveal a small black box, no larger than a palm. Beirut's eyes lit up as he reached out and grasped it.
Greenfire saw this and smiled as well.
"Grandpa, what's inside?" Bei Bei asked, puzzled.
"Guess?" Beirut said with a hearty chuckle.
