Chapter 46: The Unfinished Battle

In the wilderness, three figures stood side by side.

"Mr. Magnus, it's here," Uman said.

Magnus looked around and nodded slightly. "Lei Sijing and his three pursuers split up to chase you two here. We'll use this spot as the center and search outward in concentric rings." Magnus was certain that Lei Sijing and his group wouldn't have gone far; they were probably resting somewhere nearby.

"Sorry to trouble you, Mr. Magnus," Chegewin said with a smile.

"Think of it as a stroll," Magnus replied with a faint smile. "But to search like this, you two had better be prepared—it could take a very, very long time."

It might only take a day or two if they were lucky, but if Lei Sijing's group was resting tens of thousands of miles away, it could take over a hundred years of searching.

"If Mr. Magnus has the patience to search, how could we two accompanying him be in any hurry?" Chegewin and Uman immediately began to search meticulously alongside Magnus. Typically, a ruler-level god's divine sense range was limited, but for those with soul mutations, great perfection, or who used a Chief God's power, the search range was vastly larger.

After all, a great perfection expert's soul had undergone a transformation.

The three of them began searching outward from that point, expanding in concentric rings. The days of searching were monotonous. Yet Magnus remained utterly unhurried, leisurely following his plan as if he were touring the Planar Battlefield.

Time passed silently, and three months flew by in the blink of an eye.

During their search, whenever Magnus, Uman, and Chegewin encountered large mountains or hills, they would thoroughly investigate them. Today, they came across Sheep Horn Mountain!

"Sheep Horn Mountain is a bit larger, I'll need some time to search it carefully," Magnus instructed the two men. Then he approached the mountain, starting his detailed search along the base. However, after only a moment, a voice resonated directly in Uman and Chegewin's minds, "Haha, you two come over here, I've found them."

Even Magnus was delighted to have found his targets after searching for three months.

"Found them?"

Uman and Chegewin's faces lit up with joy as they immediately flew over.

"Don't make a sound," Magnus transmitted telepathically.

As a great perfection expert, his soul had undergone a secondary transformation. Unless a great perfection High God deliberately revealed the aura of his soul power, an ordinary ruler-level god wouldn't detect it if he was careful. This was the same method Byer had used when searching for Lin Lei and the others back then.

By the time Byer had deliberately revealed his soul power aura and Lin Lei's group detected it, Byer had already entered the corridor.

"The four of them are gathered together talking right now. This Lei Sijing and his crew certainly know how to enjoy themselves; they've even built a rather nice mansion inside that mountain," Magnus transmitted with a laugh. After a moment, he suddenly realized, "Oh, so the God-Eater Mouse is called 'Bei Bei,' and the other two are named Lin Lei and Lei Hong."

Clearly, he had learned their names by listening to the conversation between the four.

"Bei Bei, Lin Lei, Lei Hong?" Chegewin and Uman committed the names to memory; they hadn't known the names of Lei Sijing's group before.

"Let's get ready to make our move," Magnus said calmly. "Do as I say..." He then transmitted instructions to Uman and Chegewen, assigning them their tasks.

Inside the cave dwelling on Sheep Horn Mountain.

After their previous decisive victory, Lin Lei and his companions had returned to their cave dwelling here on Sheep Horn Mountain. The four of them were all quite happy here. Lin Lei's other divine clones were busy cultivating, while his main body occasionally chatted with Bei Bei and Lei Sijing.

"Come, let's toast!" Lei Sijing said with a grin, raising his cup.

Lin Lei, Bei Bei, and Lei Hong all smiled and raised their cups in return, drinking them down in one gulp.

"Bei Bei, as your big brother, I have to give you some advice," Lei Sijing said, patting Bei Bei's shoulder with a laugh. "Look at me—over these three months, I've at least been training seriously most of the time, with just a bit of fun now and then. But you? You trained for a day or two and lost patience. How are you ever going to achieve a fusion breakthrough at this rate?"

"Fuse?" Bei Bei touched his nose and chuckled. "Forget it, I'll just eat more divine cores and strengthen my body to its limit first. According to my grandfather, I'm still a long way off. Right now, I'm even having some difficulty refining divine core artifacts." As he spoke, Bei Bei picked up a Highgod divine core and popped it directly into his mouth.

Bei Bei had gotten plenty of Highgod divine cores from Beirut. Normally, Highgod divine cores were nothing to Beirut. Under normal circumstances, divine cores were indestructible. Only the God-Eater Mouse had a way to destroy them; no one else could. That was why the number of divine cores in places like the Infernal Realm and the Netherworld kept increasing.

Of course, the Chief Gods were also collecting divine cores to reduce their quantity across the various planes. Otherwise, an oversupply would make divine cores worthless. The Chief Gods' task was to confiscate a large number of divine cores, which were periodically collected by the High Gods.

But when Beirut wanted divine cores, he could easily obtain large quantities from the Chief Gods, so naturally, he gave them to Bei Bei to eat.

"Eating divine cores—now that's a cool ability," Lei Sijing praised. "I wish I could do that, but I can't."

Bei Bei paused, then looked down at the divine core in his hand. A grin spread across his face. "Lei Sijing, I didn't realize it until you said something, but now that you mention it... eating divine cores really is my unique special skill. Uh, well, my grandfather can do it too." Saying that, Bei Bei playfully tossed the core into the air, and it fell right back into his mouth.

After swallowing it, Bei Bei proudly raised an eyebrow at Lin Lei and Lei Sijing.

Seeing this, Lin Lei couldn't help but smile.

In the past, Lin Lei had always carried a heavy burden, but now he felt completely at ease. After all, he had already obtained all four ruler medals. "Now, all I need to do is wait slowly until the Great Battle ends." Lin Lei had no intention of participating in the final battle.

With the ruler medals in hand, he would simply watch the Great Battle unfold. He certainly didn't believe he could gather another ten ruler medals to trade for a Chief God artifact.

Just then—

"Huh? Divine sense?" All four of them—Lin Lei, Bei Lei, Lei Sijing, and Lei Hong—were shocked and leapt to their feet as they sensed a powerful divine sense enveloping them. What they didn't know was that this was Magnus, who, after observing them for a long time and being ready to attack, had finally dropped his concealment and openly revealed his soul power.
