When Gan Mengting had tried to forcibly take Olivia away, Lin Lei had refused, and so a great battle erupted between them. Back then, Lin Lei had relied on the "Blackstone Space" to slay Gan Mengting's strongest Wind System god clone. Who would have thought that Gan Mengting still had a Water System god clone hiding in concealment?
Naturally, Gan Mengting harbored a bone-deep hatred for Lin Lei.
Lin Lei still vividly remembered Gan Mengting's roar before his clone's death: "You can't kill me! If you kill me, the Commander will definitely kill you!" At the time, Gan Mengting had tried to threaten him with this so-called "Commander."
"He's looking for the Commander? And now he's come here — could it be that the Commander is right here?" Lin Lei's brow furrowed slightly.
This mysterious undersea castle, Hantiese Castle — the white-haired elder who had received them had once said, "Opening the secret chamber is a matter of great importance. We need to apply to the Castle Lord."
"Castle Lord?" Lin Lei pondered. The people Ulay had brought along already possessed the strength of roughly six-star demons. What about Ulay himself? And what about the Castle Lord of this castle?
The "Commander" that Gan Mengting had spoken of...
Castle Lord?
In that instant, Lin Lei arrived at a possibility.
The moment this possibility crossed his mind, Lin Lei felt a wave of horror surge straight into his brain. His whole body trembled involuntarily, and his face turned deathly pale in an instant. "Could it be..."
"Have I walked right into the tiger's mouth, come to throw away my life?" Lin Lei thought.
From the number of powerhouses on Nilu Island and the experts this undersea castle Hantiese had revealed, one could judge that the Castle Lord of Hantiese Castle was absolutely a supreme powerhouse possessing astonishing strength!
In Hell, whatever status one held demanded strength to match. Otherwise, no one would submit.
"Hmm?" Lomio, walking alongside Lin Lei, was himself a supreme powerhouse and naturally noticed that something was off with Lin Lei's current state. He glanced at Lin Lei with puzzlement — what could have caused Lin Lei to lose composure like this?
Fortunately, the guide walking ahead hadn't turned around and was unaware.
"My lords, we're almost at the guest quarters," the black-armored, red-cloaked warrior said with a smile. This remark snapped Lin Lei out of his deep thoughts. He immediately adjusted his mindset.
After all, things hadn't reached the worst point yet. Setting aside whether this Castle Lord was the "Commander" — even if he was, the other party had never seen him before.
"I'll take it one step at a time," Lin Lei told himself.
This undersea Hantiese Castle was like a small city, with crisscrossing interior passages divided into many zones. Guests generally stayed in the same area, where rows of two-story buildings of similar design stood in neat formation.
These buildings were all constructed from a cream-colored stone, which brought a pleasant sense of relief within the dark castle.
"Lomio, your quarters are in Building 26. Lin Lei, yours are in Building 27," the black-armored, red-cloaked guard said respectfully. "Someone will bring meals shortly. As for when you'll enter the secret chamber, there's no need to rush — you'll be notified in due time."
Lomio's brow creased. "Are you just going to make us wait here idle?"
Lin Lei also felt a twinge of discomfort.
"My lords, rest assured. According to standard procedure, you'll typically be summoned within half a day at the earliest. At the latest, it will be no more than three days," the guard replied with a smile.
"Mm." Lomio gave an indifferent nod.
At most three days — Lomio didn't mind. But Lin Lei did!
"You may go," Lin Lei dismissed the guard, though his mind was troubled. The longer he stayed in Hantiese Castle, the more dangerous it became, since Gan Mengting was somewhere within its walls.
"Lomio, I'll head back to my room first. If anything comes up, you know where to find me," Lomio said. Without waiting for a response, he turned and entered his quarters.
Lomio was an aloof man by nature. It was only because he had witnessed Lin Lei in action that he wanted to spar with him, which was why he had been so cordial. Otherwise, he wouldn't have deigned to say so much to Lin Lei.
Lin Lei's thoughts were consumed by Gan Mengting, leaving him no energy to deal with anything else. He too turned and headed back to his room.
Sitting cross-legged on the stone bed, he could see out through the window.
"I'd thought this trip would be about watching the floating projections of experts fighting. Who could have guessed I'd run into Gan Mengting," Lin Lei sighed inwardly. At that moment, footsteps sounded outside the door, followed by a knock.
"Come in," Lin Lei said flatly.
The door opened. Soon, two blonde women in bright yellow dresses entered Lin Lei's room, each carrying a large serving tray.
"Just put them on the table," Lin Lei said coolly.
"Yes, my lord," the two attendants said reverently, carefully setting down the sumptuous dishes. Lin Lei suddenly looked up at them. "The people who came with me — has their inspection been completed?"
One of the attendants replied respectfully, "Yes, my lord, the inspection is finished. Two of the six lords have already returned to Nilu Island. The other four are now staying here as well, not far from your quarters."
"Oh." Lin Lei understood.
Two of the six had been turned away like Di Lin — denied entry to the secret chamber.
"That will be all," Lin Lei dismissed them.
The two attendants bowed and withdrew. As for the dishes spread out before him, Lin Lei didn't touch a single bite. He had absolutely no appetite for fine food right now.
"If it's a blessing, it won't be a curse; if it's a curse, there's no dodging it!" Lin Lei then closed his eyes and sat quietly cross-legged.
Hantiese Castle. At that moment, the white-haired, white-bearded elder in red armor and a red cloak — Ulay — was walking along a heavily guarded corridor within the castle.
The door, inscribed with mystical magic runes, swung open to reveal a narrow passage.
Ulay continued forward.
The two guards at the entrance promptly closed the door behind him. Along the walls of this corridor were various carvings — armies clashing by the thousands, or two figures dueling mid-air...
At the end of the passage lay a vast, empty hall.
On one side of the hall was a large fireplace. Ulay walked to the edge of the hearth and pressed a hidden mechanism. Immediately, a broad passageway built entirely of blood-red mineral ore was revealed. The entire blood-red corridor radiated an aura of deathly silence that made one's heart tremble.
Ulay drew a deep breath before stepping into the wide secret passage.
