Chapter 26 You Can't Kill Me

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,035 words

The battle at Moon Lake Castle had reached its final moments. The castle's master had transformed into his true form—a black dragon hundreds of meters long, its back bristling with vicious, jagged spikes. Even in his true form, the castle master had no confidence that he could stand against the demons!

Inside a hidden room beside that vast hall.

Lin Lei and the other three were quietly peering through the gap in the door at what was happening outside. In truth, the demons could have detected them, but when they sensed the group's auras—merely mid-tier gods—they couldn't be bothered to care.

"That Loiusius—he says the black dragon is the castle master?" Lin Lei looked bewildered.

Dilia explained beside him: "Lin Lei, you suddenly went into a deep meditative state to comprehend something earlier, and we didn't dare disturb you. At that point, the castle master was being chased into this great hall. He probably saw the six demons around him and lost his confidence."

Lin Lei nodded slightly.

"Hm?" Something caught his attention.

"Now that Moon Lake Castle has fallen to this state, those golden-robed guards—even if they're still alive—have probably all fled the castle," Lin Lei thought. Regardless of whether the golden-robed guards had all perished, it was very unlikely he would run into any of them now.

After all, several hundred golden-robed guards weren't idiots. If even the castle master had been reduced to this, those who were still alive would certainly flee for their lives.

"Bei Bei, check it out." Lin Lei tossed a spatial ring to Bei Bei. "See if there's a Moon Ring inside."

"Got it." Bei Bei immediately dripped blood on it to claim ownership.

Lin Lei examined another spatial ring himself.

Back when Lin Lei's group had been ambushed by four others who were also participating in the demon trial, the ambush had failed, and two of the four had been killed by Lin Lei's group instead. Naturally, those two had left behind these two spatial rings.

"We've only gotten two Moon Rings so far. We still need one more." A trace of worry surfaced in Lin Lei's heart.

Dilia was watching Lin Lei and Bei Bei as well.

"Boss, this spatial ring has some inkstone and azurestone inside, but no Moon Ring," Bei Bei said helplessly.

Both Dilia and Bei Bei turned their eyes to Lin Lei. Now everything depended on whether Lin Lei's ring contained a Moon Ring.

"It does! There really is a Moon Ring!" The moment Lin Lei probed the ring, a look of pleasant surprise appeared on his face. The owner of this spatial ring was the leader of that four-man group, "Feidisi." It made perfect sense that the leader would be the one to put a Moon Ring into his own ring.

"Haha, we've got all the Moon Rings!" Bei Bei was thrilled.

Ruina stared at Lin Lei: "Lin Lei, only one?"

"Just one." Lin Lei gave an apologetic smile. He knew Ruina very much wanted a Moon Ring too. But the three of them only had three in total, with none left over to give Ruina. There was nothing he could do about it.

Disappointment flickered in Ruina's heart, but she still forced a smile onto her face. "It's fine. Once we head out, we'll see if there's another chance."

Suddenly, a furious roar echoed from the great hall—

"Don't push too far! I can give you enormous wealth, even hand over this entire castle. I can even... find a way to make you six-star demons. Isn't completing this task what gets you to six-star demon status anyway?" The great dragon roared.

The black dragon, hundreds of meters long, coiled within the vast hall. Loiusius and his companion stood hovering in the air. The difference in their size was staggering.

Yet it was the black dragon who was begging.

"Hmph, make us six-star demons? Becoming a higher-level demon requires completing a mission. There's no other way." Loiusius gazed at the pale-green curved blade in his hand, speaking slowly. "Stop struggling. Prepare to die!"

"Big Brother, let me handle it!" The blue-haired man said eagerly. "Let me avenge Second Sister."

"No."

Loiusius glanced at the black dragon. "He may have already used his soul attack twice, and his soul power is probably nearly depleted. Still, we can't take any chances. I'll do it!" Loiusius was already gathering his power. He had absolute confidence.

"I am Urnisson!" the black dragon roared. "You can't kill me! You can't kill me!!!"

"Urnisson?"

Loiusius let out a mocking laugh. "Who the hell is Urnisson? If you're going to brag before you die, at least pick an impressive name. Say you're a Purple Blood Demon. Or even say you're some great Highgod. Ha! I don't care who you are—die!"

As he spoke, Loiusius brought his curved blade down.

Light and effortless—the fabric of space didn't stir at all, not even the faintest breath of wind. It was as though the blade didn't truly exist.

The black dragon roared.

"You can't kill me!" Though consumed with fury, when that effortless strike descended, the black dragon went completely berserk, desperately unleashing his innate divine ability at the cost of his very life. The massive black dragon let out a deep, guttural roar—

"Whoosh~~~" The space trembled.

"Phut!"

Loiusius's blade came down. A pale-green blade shadow sliced through the air and landed on the black dragon's skull. What was strange was that the black dragon's scales and flesh withered and split apart instantly, and the blade continued straight into the brain, striking the divine core within.

"You'll regret this!!!"

The black dragon's final roar echoed through the great hall.

"BOOM!"

The enormous black dragon corpse crashed to the ground. Loiusius, his face pale, sheathed his curved blade and glanced at the massive corpse lying below with a scoff. "Hmph. That innate ability is certainly powerful. But you think I'll regret it? In the entire Yeemu Prefecture, the people who could make me afraid are few in number—and I know every one of them. What gives a dead man like you the right to make me regret anything?"

"Big Brother!" The blue-haired man looked at Loiusius with concern. "Are you alright?"
