Over sixty people scattered and fled.
With only three demons supervising them, how many could they catch?
One of the golden-haired demons transmitted via divine sense, "Now, forget about those taking the trial clearing a path for us ahead. Let's go find the Black Clothed Guards!" The two demons immediately dashed forward, and though Crumpton was full of reluctance, he followed.
"Lin Lei, I hope I don't run into you again. Next time, I definitely won't let things go like this."
Crumpton regretted it—why hadn't he killed Lin Lei earlier?
Actually, it wasn't that Crumpton was soft-hearted; he simply couldn't kill Lin Lei at that time!
At the start, the thousand people taking the demonic trial had been divided into ten teams. If Crumpton had tried to kill Lin Lei back then, the other demons probably wouldn't have allowed it. After all, if Lin Lei were killed for no reason, it was likely all thousand trial participants would scatter and flee in panic.
Inside Moon Lake Castle, it was in complete chaos.
One place in chaos meant everywhere was in chaos!
One after another, all ten teams fled madly. Several hundred people spread across various areas of the castle's third floor. The Gold Clothed Guards who had been hiding in some of the rooms were utterly astonished to discover people suddenly rushing into their area! Their hiding spots were supposed to be secret.
But with hundreds of people running around wildly, collisions were inevitable.
The fighting started instantly!
"Boom!" "Boom!" Explosions of energy, furious shouts, and the sounds of brutal combat echoed continuously from every part of the castle.
In a hidden room.
Lin Lei, Dilia, and Bei Bei were there.
"It's really noisy outside." Bei Bei still had a grin on his face. He then looked at Lin Lei. "Boss, if we're hiding here and all the Gold Clothed Guards get killed, won't we miss out on getting the Moon Rings?"
"Don't rush!" Lin Lei frowned. "The Gold Clothed Guards aren't few in number, and the castle's strength is probably greater than we imagined."
Lin Lei still remembered that final arrow just now!
His 'Pulsating Armor,' formed by comprehending two profound mysteries, offered defense ten times stronger than that of an ordinary mid-stage god! Yet even that had been pierced through. Lin Lei believed the person who shot that arrow was very likely a high-stage god!
"The castle's strongest protectors, the Black Clothed Guards, wouldn't come for a sneak attack right away. It must be the Gold Clothed Guards first." Lin Lei understood this principle—those performing minor ambushes were inevitably the lower-ranked ones.
Lin Lei couldn't help but sigh. "Dilia, Bei Bei, you need to be careful of the Gold Clothed Guards. They aren't all mid-stage gods as we assumed!" He then shared his thoughts with Dilia and Bei Bei.
They had to be cautious!
If they underestimated the Gold Clothed Guards, they could very well be finished.
"Killing a mid-stage god Gold Clothed Guard or a high-stage god Gold Clothed Guard both earn the same Moon Ring," Bei Bei said, curling his lip. "Let's hope we're lucky."
Although the three of them were talking, they used their divine domains to isolate the sound, preventing it from leaking outside.
"Boom!" The wall shook violently.
"Someone's fighting out there!" Lin Lei, Dilia, and Bei Bei stood up instantly. Moving like lightning, all three reached the wall. If someone burst in from the doorway, they could easily join forces and dispatch them in an instant!
"Boom!" Another impact!
The sturdy wooden door shattered inward without resistance. A figure collapsed weakly from outside, crashing onto the floor.
The three of them didn't move.
"That's a corpse!" Lin Lei and the others immediately determined—the head of the corpse had been smashed to pulp. A divine core was still rolling on the floor.
Lin Lei, Dilia, and Bei Bei held their breath.
"Whoosh!"
A figure charged in at lightning speed!
"Kill!" All three of them moved.
Dilia instantly unleashed the 'Wind Space' profound mystery, entangling and binding the figure, drastically reducing its speed. Lin Lei's black jade heavy sword struck mercilessly downward with its strongest attack—
Void Sword Wave!
"Get out of here!" Bei Bei laughed loudly, kicking the figure's head.
"Bang!" The figure slammed hard into the adjacent wall before falling heavily to the ground. Magical runes on the wall's surface glowed briefly, completely undamaged.
The castle was equipped with defensive magic, but not every wall had it. Generally, load-bearing walls and some prison cells did. Other walls or doors lacked magical arrays.
"Huh?" All three of them changed expressions. "It's not dead?"
The figure was actually standing up.
Its head had been grotesquely deformed by Bei Bei's powerful kick, the skin split open to reveal the metallic skull beneath. The eyes were red gems, and it stared eerily at Lin Lei and the others, emitting a mechanical laugh: "Three mid-stage gods? Not bad!"
Divine power flowed across the metallic skull's surface, restoring it almost instantly.
"That's not a human, and it has no soul!" Lin Lei was also shocked—his 'Void Sword Wave' had failed to attack the soul.
In Lin Lei's perception, this creature—covered in human skin on the outside but metallic within—had no trace of a soul's aura.
"What is this?" Lin Lei, Dilia, and Bei Bei were all bewildered.
Even a metal lifeform possessed a soul. Regardless of the type of life, the soul was fundamental. Yet this monster before them had no soul! It was absolutely not a living being. But how could this monster still have consciousness and be able to speak?
"Is it a peculiar type of clone?" they speculated.
"Boss, this monster's body is incredibly tough. My full-power kick just now failed to burst its skull! Truly strange." Bei Bei was also confused. He knew very well how terrifying his own strength was. In terms of pure power, even Lin Lei was not his match.
This was a special ability granted after the Godeater Rat devoured divine cores.
"Hmph. Meeting me, all three of you can die." The monster's glowing red eyes locked onto Lin Lei and the others, and it moved in an instant.
