Chapter 3 Black Dragon Tribe
"Can you... explain a little more clearly?" Lin Lei was completely bewildered.
They had just stepped out of that metal life-form when they encountered this silver-haired elder, who immediately demanded black stones from them. What exactly were these black stones? He hadn't figured it out yet. But he could sense that the stones contained some kind of special energy.
They clearly weren't ordinary items — how could he just hand them over casually?
"Haha..." The silver-haired elder beamed with a smile. "You three have just arrived in Hell, so there are probably many things you don't understand. Very well, let me explain more clearly!"
The silver-haired elder glanced around and said, "This Hell is one of the four supreme divine realms. As a realm created by the 'Supreme God of Destruction,' this place is filled with endless, cruel slaughter. Slaughter is the most common thing in Hell!" As he spoke, the silver-haired elder's eyes seemed to faintly redden.
Lin Lei and the other two were secretly alarmed.
The silver-haired elder swept his gaze over Lin Lei's group and said with absolute certainty, "You three may be god-level, but in Hell, you're complete strangers. I dare say that if you wander around blindly, you won't last even three days!"
"Won't last even three days?"
Lin Lei, Dilia, and Bei Bei were all slightly startled.
"Old man, are you trying to fool us?" Bei Bei glared.
Though Bei Bei was glaring, he looked adorable about it. The silver-haired elder wasn't offended and said, "You may have just arrived in Hell, but aboard that Wisteria Military metal ship, the honorable officers should have told you some things. It's a good thing you've reached god-level — if you were only at the Saint Realm, I wouldn't even bother with you, black stones or not."
A scene immediately surfaced in Lin Lei's mind.
Back inside the metal life-form, that thin youth in purple robes had said: "Hell, as one of the four supreme divine realms, is naturally teeming with the strong. Since you're new to Hell, it's best to find a tribe or clan to join!" At the time, Lin Lei hadn't paid much attention to those words.
But now he was starting to understand.
Join a tribe or clan!
"Lin Lei, Hell is that dangerous?" Dilia looked at Lin Lei, and he immediately comforted her through divine sense transmission: "No matter what, we've just arrived in Hell, so we should be cautious about everything. Let me ask him a few questions first."
Lin Lei looked at the silver-haired elder and smiled. "My name is Lin Lei. May I ask who you are?"
"Pafeite!" The silver-haired elder smiled.
Lin Lei nodded and said with a smile, "Mr. Pafeite, I'd like to ask — what exactly are these black stones? We just arrived in Hell and don't know the first thing about any of this."
"Haha..." The silver-haired elder laughed. "That's understandable. These black stones, to be precise, are the currency of Hell!"
"Currency?" Lin Lei, Bei Bei, and Dilia were all surprised.
Having lived on the Yulan Continent, Lin Lei and the others naturally understood what currency meant. The 'currency' of Hell turned out to be these unusual black stones.
"What makes these things currency?" Lin Lei asked, puzzled.
For something to serve as currency, it should at least have some value.
Pafeite shook his head. "I'm not entirely sure what's so special about the black stones themselves. But I do know one thing... Black stones can't be mined anywhere in Hell. Only the Seven Great Lords of Hell can produce them. Just that alone is enough for them to serve as currency, wouldn't you say?"
Lin Lei nodded slightly.
These black stones were actually created by the Seven Great Lords of Hell. But what special use did the stones themselves have? Were they just made for people to look at? Lin Lei felt there must be some special value to the stones themselves.
"What can currency buy?" Lin Lei pressed.
Pafeite chuckled. "Quite a lot, actually. Divine artifacts, divine sparks, divine crystals, and all sorts of peculiar items — like wisteria crystals, large-scale puppets, and more. Of course, there are even more wondrous things... In short, currency is incredibly useful. Even legendary highgod artifacts can be purchased with it, though the sum would be astronomically large."
Lin Lei grew even more aware of the black stones' usefulness.
"Can you tell me how much a lower god spark is worth?" Lin Lei asked.
"A lower god spark is worth one hundred black stones. A lower divine artifact is generally worth around ten black stones," Pafeite said helpfully. "In Hell, god-level powerhouses are everywhere, so lower god sparks aren't particularly expensive."
"But a mid god spark is worth ten thousand black stones, and an upper god spark is worth nearly ten million!" Pafeite sighed. "Ten million! If I had an upper god spark, I could become a prominent figure here in Hell."
Lin Lei, Bei Bei, and Dilia exchanged glances and all smiled.
"Boss, and here you were treating that black stone like a treasure," Bei Bei transmitted through divine sense.
"I just sensed that the black stone itself was somewhat special. I didn't realize that one black stone really isn't much of anything," Lin Lei replied. Naturally, they didn't care much about this single black stone. After all, Lin Lei already possessed quite a few lower and mid divine artifacts, and even had two unused upper divine artifacts.
He also had one upper god spark.
At this point, Lin Lei, Dilia, and Bei Bei were perfectly willing to join this Black Dragon Tribe — it was only one black stone per person, after all.
"If we join your tribe, what if we want to leave later?" Lin Lei asked.
