Chapter 1: Mirror Moon Cliff

January 17, 2020 · 6 min read · 1,105 words

One of the Four Supreme High Planes — Hell!

A sickle-shaped purple cold moon hung in the night sky, its eerie purple glow spreading across the boundless world below.

"Rumble~~" Dark waves crashed hysterically against a cliff that soared ten thousand meters high, yet for billions of years, no matter how the Astral Mist Sea hammered against it, the cliff stood as it always had — unchanged from eons ago.

This cliff rose straight up and dropped straight down, as if carved by a blade, its surface smooth as a mirror. In Hell, it was known as 'Mirror Moon Cliff.'

At the very summit of Mirror Moon Cliff stood an ancient castle constructed entirely of purple ore. The castle seemed to have existed since time immemorial, and from within its purple walls, a dreamlike radiance constantly shimmered outward.

At the center of the purple castle, the open ground was paved with earth-yellow ancient stone material, extraordinarily flat.

Upon this open ground sat two enormous magical arrays placed side by side, each a hundred meters in diameter. These arrays were incomparably more complex than the teleportation array on the Arctic Ice Plains. Standing beside these two colossal arrays were two burly men.

The two wore tight-fitting purple garments beneath purple robes embroidered with golden trim, and each bore a distinctive purple mark on his forehead.

"Third Brother really is diligent — never wastes a moment of time for cultivation," said the black-haired, purple-robed man with a laugh.

The silver-haired, purple-robed man beside him grinned as well. "At this rate, Third Brother will probably be appointed squad leader before long." As he spoke, both men glanced toward a bald, purple-robed young man sitting cross-legged on the ground not far away, dressed in the same attire.

"Buzz~~"

One of the enormous magical arrays on the open ground once again radiated a hazy glow, and three figures materialized in its distorted center. Only when the luminous mist faded did their forms become clear. Standing in the middle was a young man in a sky-blue robe, flanked by a golden-haired beauty and a delicate, mischievous-looking boy wearing a straw hat.

All three gazed around with open curiosity.

"Oh!" The black-haired, purple-robed man laughed heartily. "Well, well — this time, all three who've arrived in Hell have already reached god-level. Two of them appear to be mid-tier gods, too. At least they were smart enough not to come before reaching the Saint Realm. Ha ha..."

"Anyone who comes to Hell while still at the Saint Realm is an idiot," the silver-haired, purple-robed man scoffed.

Meanwhile, the bald, purple-robed young man who had been meditating rose to his feet. His cold, silver eyes swept over the newcomers as he walked over and said flatly: "Welcome, all of you, to the world of the strong — Hell!" His hoarse voice echoed across the open ground.

The three who had been teleported here were none other than Lin Lei, Dilia, and Bei Bei.

"So powerful!" Lin Lei's heart tightened with wariness upon seeing the three. All of them surpass me in strength — likely mid-tier gods, though they could also be high-grade gods.

Bei Bei, on the other hand, cried out in delight: "Wow! Handsome guys in purple — so this is Hell? Whoa, the elemental energy is incredibly dense, and there are so many strong people... Tsk tsk, look at those — that one with six horns. I've never seen anything like it!"

On the open ground, aside from the three purple-robed men, dozens of creatures of all manner lined the edge of the clearing. Nearly half were human in appearance, while the rest displayed all manner of exotic forms — many that Lin Lei and his companions had never encountered.

The bald, purple-robed man's cold, purple gaze locked onto Bei Bei. "Shut your mouth!"

Bei Bei was stunned into silence.

"I only say things once. Listen carefully, or if you end up dead, don't blame anyone else." The bald man's hoarse voice carried no inflection whatsoever.

Bei Bei's face clearly showed his indignation, but Lin Lei placed his right hand on Bei Bei's shoulder, pressing down gently to restrain him while communicating through their souls: "Bei Bei, this is Hell. We're strangers here in a foreign land — don't cause any more trouble. Lord Beirut is powerful, but even he can't reach into Hell."

Though resentment simmered in Bei Bei's heart, he obediently quieted down. "I got it, Boss."

"You three came from a material plane. What you're to do right now is stand over there!" The bald man pointed toward the edge of the open ground, where several dozen creatures stood in silent ranks. Lin Lei looked over.

Of those dozens, nearly half were human, but the rest belonged to other races.

"Among these dozens, only five have reached god-level — the rest are still at the Saint Realm," Lin Lei assessed at a glance.

The bald, purple-robed man continued in his cold tone: "Your task is to stand there quietly. No talking, no wandering around. You will follow our orders in everything. Disobey, and your lives end here."

The black-haired, purple-robed man laughed: "You'd better listen carefully to what my Third Brother says. Otherwise... ha ha."

The bald man shot the black-haired man a glance, and the latter could only chuckle sheepishly. The bald man then resumed his cold demeanor: "Whatever you need to know, we'll tell you. There's no need to ask questions. Come dawn tomorrow, we'll send you on your way!"

With that, the bald, purple-robed man returned to the corner, sat cross-legged, and closed his eyes once more.

The other two purple-robed men exchanged a smile.

A thought stirred in Lin Lei's mind: Send us away at dawn tomorrow? To where?

"Lin Lei, we've just arrived in Hell. We should figure out the situation first. For now, it's best to do as those three purple-robed men say," Dilia's voice sounded in his mind. She squeezed his hand, and Lin Lei turned to give her a smile before leading Bei Bei to the edge of the clearing.

Lin Lei and Dilia looked around at the other creatures with mild curiosity.

"These all came from material planes, but quite a few of these races don't even exist on the Yulan Continent," Dilia said to Lin Lei via divine sense, curiosity in her voice. Lin Lei nodded slightly. "Hmm? Dilia, look at the one at the very end."

Among the several dozen figures, one near the back had dragon scales covering his body and dragon horns protruding from his forehead — bearing an unmistakable resemblance to a Dragon Blood Warrior.
