Chapter 46: Plans Change

In the courtyard.

“Boss, when I shot out from underground just now, I saw five men following that light-blue one away outside,” Bei Bei said, his eyes glowing with anger. “That bad woman definitely had ill intentions.”

Lin Lei smiled faintly. “No need to overthink it. That woman is most likely someone sent by the Church of Light to kill me. If I had chased after her just now, I probably wouldn’t have made it out the door before the ambush outside swarmed and killed me. If they weren’t planning to kill me all along, why would they have people lying in wait outside? Besides, I couldn’t even sense them.”

Five people hiding outside, and he hadn’t detected them. These five were definitely experts, not much weaker than himself.

“Master, what do we do now?” Black Lu asked via soul transmission.

Lin Lei’s will shifted, and the Blacksteel Heavy Sword appeared in his hand. “What do we do? No need to pay them much mind. Once Jenner arrives, we’ll take her and leave immediately. If those people still chase us, we’ll just kill them.”

As long as he wasn’t ambushed, once he assumed his Dragon Blood Warrior form and wielded the Blacksteel Heavy Sword, Lin Lei felt confident facing even a Saint Realm powerhouse.

Before long.

“Big Brother Lei,” a familiar voice called out.

“Come in,” Lin Lei said, standing up with a smile. As the courtyard gate opened, Jenner and Keeney walked in.

Keeney saw Lin Lei and sighed, “Big Brother Lei, my sister was almost bullied this time. Luckily, I was on guard and sent people to protect her room.”

“Bullied?” Lin Lei looked at Jenner.

Jenner shook her head and smiled. “It was nothing. Albert, the clan’s first heir, tried to sneak into my room at night. Fortunately, Keeney was prepared, and Albert was afraid of causing a big scene, since the castle is so crowded.”

“That Albert has always had bad intentions toward you. I couldn’t afford to be careless. It doesn’t matter if he becomes the city lord or not—under no circumstances can you be bullied by that scoundrel,” Keeney said solemnly.

Jenner looked at her brother, somewhat touched.

Lin Lei also looked at Keeney with approval.

“Sister, when you’re out with Big Brother Lei, you’ll have to take care of yourself,” Keeney said, his eyes reddening slightly. “But knowing you’re with Big Brother Lei, I’m very relieved.”

Lan Dan stood not far from the hotel. Just a moment ago, Jenner and Keeney’s group had entered.

“Let’s sit and rest for a bit nearby,” Lan Dan said, pointing toward the ground floor of the hotel’s main building. “But keep watch while we rest. The moment Jenner, Keeney, and the others come out, follow them immediately.”

The other five nodded, and Lan Dan’s group entered the hotel’s main building.

However, about a minute or two later, Albert arrived outside the hotel with over a dozen people.

“Is this it?” Albert asked the subordinate beside him.

“Yes, Young Master, Miss Jenner and the others went into this hotel.” Hearing the answer, Albert nodded. “Go find out exactly who the bastard is that Jenner fancies.”

As he spoke, Albert touched the wound on his face.

That night had been truly humiliating.

He knew Jenner was a third-level mage, but he was a fourth-level warrior. Sneaking in while she was asleep and having his way with her shouldn’t have been difficult. In the dead of night, he had crept into Jenner’s room.

Who would have thought that Jenner wasn’t alone in her room? There was also a female guard.

Furthermore, there were others secretly guarding outside the room.

He, the dignified first heir of the Jarx family, had been beaten up thoroughly by that female guard. Fortunately, Jenner and that guard knew his identity and didn’t dare kill him. Jenner had even told him to give up his pursuit, because she was going to leave with the one she loved, traveling far away.

“Is she leaving with that mysterious ninth-level warrior?” Albert fumed inwardly.

“Let’s go inside, sit down, have something to eat, and wait slowly,” Albert ordered.

Then, Albert also led his group into the main building of the Nell Hotel. Filled with anger, Albert had just stepped into the hotel when he glanced around and his eyes lit up.

Albert stared fixedly at Lan Dan.

“What an angelic beauty!” Albert marveled inwardly.

Albert had very high standards for women; he was mostly immune to ordinary beauties. But Lan Dan was truly stunning—not only were her features exquisite, but more importantly, she possessed that cold, holy aura.

Without the act, Lan Dan had fully recovered her natural temperament.

The more holy she seemed, the more Albert desired her. For Albert, subjugating a holy woman was immensely satisfying.

“Beautiful lady, my name is Albert Jarx. It is a pleasure to meet you here,” Albert said, approaching with a humble smile.

Lan Dan glanced at him, ignoring him completely.

“Scram,” one of the five men beside Lan Dan, a blond, barked.

“Courting death,” Albert’s guards immediately drew their weapons, glaring coldly at the blond man. This time, Albert had been very careful in following Jenner.

Knowing that the man Jenner fancied was a ninth-level warrior, Albert had brought experts with him, including one who was his great-grandfather’s apprentice—a ninth-level powerhouse himself.

“Jarx?” Lan Dan suddenly looked up at him, just noticing the surname of this dandy.

“Yes,” Albert said with a proud smile.

Albert’s servant declared haughtily beside him, “My young master is the first heir of the Jarx family! How dare you show disrespect to him?”

The Northwest Province was the Jarx family’s domain. As the first heir, Albert indeed had the license to act arrogantly.

“Albert,” a middle-aged man standing behind Albert said softly, “those six people, including that woman, are not weak. They are likely eighth-level warriors, possibly even ninth-level.”

Albert was startled.
